  • My favourite sunset this year to date! So excited for the week ahead, major work milestones, time with the fambam and of course getting to marry my love @morriemcquillan this Saturday, couldn’t be more grateful for life right now!

  • This beautiful trail is located in Diamond Head NSW and leads strait towards the sunset.

When I shot this photo I wasn't overly excited or happy with it. But after playing around with some luminosity masks in LR and bringing the details out in the forground trail. I really really like this image now.
What do you think? Let me know below 👇
Head over to my story too see the before and after of this photo, the full landscape shot is also up.

  • Here in New Zealand, and especially in the South Island, we frequently get a windy weather condition which we refer to as a “nor’wester”. It starts when moist air from the Tasman Sea rises over the Southern Alps then quickly cools and condenses. On the West Coast this results in rain. A LOT of rain (the Cropp River catchment has a 365 day record of 18.4m / 60.4 ft!!). But just 200 km away on the East Coast, the energy released from the condensation process combined with the drop in altitude releases a dry, hot and at times ferocious wind. Amazing cloud formations, including lenticulars and helm clouds, also result.
For the landscape photographer, sunrises during nor’westerly conditions can often be spectacular as there are usually no clouds on the eastern horizon blocking the rising sun, which allows all that nor’west cloud to light and colour up. Amazing sunsets are a little harder to come by due to the likelihood of clouds on the western horizon, but when they do happen they’re equally as spectacular. This shot was taken at sunset just down the road from home.

  • ‘Country Sunsets’ 🌅
We went to this location near the scenic rim for Astro a few weeks back, but the cloud had other ideas, so we settled for the reverse sunset colour 👌💗
