  • If I told you about a #painting that depicted three pairings of #men and women called “Sailors and Floosies” and was painted in 1938, you’d likely expect to see a rather unnerving image of oversexed men, clamouring for or clambering on equally libidinous young ladies. There’d be a lot of booze involved. Perhaps a little nudity. But the thrust of the work would undoubtedly be male to female. Those floosies’ tails, whilst easy pieces of change, still need to be caught by those red-blooded roosters. Now take a look at this work. Closely. No dicks. No slits. But a lot of booze has been imbibed. Yet no-one is fucking. All three women in this painting dominate their male counterparts. Two of the #sailors are asleep - anaesthetised by liquor - with the only cognisant one looking like he’s just been told Donald Trump has won a second term. Even though he’s in the arms of a busty red-head. The ladies in the painting aren’t exactly beauties. They’re #caricatures, with the blond in the red blouse looking a little like the clown from “It”. Our boys, however, slumped as they are in intoxicated dormancy, are a different matter altogether. Wide shoulders, rippling muscles, heaving chests are all accentuated by tightly-fitting sailor’s outfits. Hello? Do you smell what I smell? Yup, that’s right, this scene has been spritzed by the cologne of the homophile. And we are LIVING for it. Paul Cadmus’ fantastic painting, now in the #whitneymuseum, is set in #newyork’s #riversidepark. #graffiti from the Sailors and Soldiers Memorial there has been transcribed on to the painting’s #frame by Cadmus; the scratches of the memorial’s graffiti becomes the sailor’s cries for liberation from these banshees. In #cadmus’ world straight simply doesn’t work. Boys don’t like girls. They like other boys. It’s not their drunken carousing that has deflated their mood and todgers. It’s their #sexuality. And Cadmus, that brave and brilliant soul, served it up on a silver platter with zero fucks to give as to what the authorities thought. They couldn’t get past the drunkenness. You see, gay slips in, one more time. I love. #paulcadmus died #otd in 1999 aged 94. #mcwrip #art

  • #OTD (12th December) in 1911. The Delhi Durbar of King George V and Queen Mary.
The date was announced on 22nd March 1911 by a royal proclamation to commemorate the coronation in Britain a few months earlier and to allow their proclamation as Emperor and Empress of India. Practically, every Prince and nobleman in India, plus thousands of landed gentry and other notable persons. The official ceremonies lasted from 7th December to 16th December.
The royal couple arrived at Coronation Park in Delhi in their coronation robes, the King-Emperor wearing the Imperial Crown of India and The Empress Consort wore the new Delhi Durbar Tiara, the diamonds were taken from Queen Mary’s Boucheron Loop Tiara which she had dismantled to make her new tiara.
The Emperor and Empress received homage from all the native Indian princes, including one woman the Begum of Bhopal in a ceremonial tent.
Afterwards, the royal couple ascended to a domed royal pavilion and it was announced that the Indian capital would be moved from Calcutta to Delhi and the annulment if the Partition of Bengal was also announced during the ceremony. King George V and Queen Mary were the only Emperor and Empress of India to attend their own Durbar.

  • Remembering your WHY. With 2 days left until graduation day, I want to reflect on my journey of becoming an occupational therapist. This boy along with the rest of my family and friends helped me persevere throughout school. I believe having a strong supportive system is crucial. 💕My family and friends were the ones that helped me push through, lean on when I am struggling, and provide words of affirmation that I WILL accomplish my goals. 😊 If you need support in any way, you guys can always reach out to me as you all have reached out to me, which I incredibly appreciate. 💗

  • Thank you to everyone who takes time out of their busy days to follow my account. I love doing it, I love your comments, and I cannot believe I’ve crossed 50k, phenomenal! Thanks again!
Today, December 12, 1965 in The Beatles History, The Beatles performed live at the Capitol Cinema, Cardiff.

The Beatles’ final UK tour ended with two concerts at the Capitol Cinema in Cardiff, Wales. The Beatles had previously performed at the venue on 27 May 1963 and 7 November 1964.

The support acts were, in order of appearance, The Paramounts, Beryl Marsden with Steve Aldo, The Moody Blues, The Koobas and The Marionettes, and the master of ceremonies was Jerry Stevens.

2,500 fans saw each concert, which lasted around 30 minutes. The Beatles performed 11 songs: I Feel Fine, She’s A Woman, If I Needed Someone, Act Naturally, Nowhere Man, Baby’s In Black, Help!, We Can Work It Out, Yesterday, Day Tripper and I’m Down.

Between their two sets The Beatles ate sausages and mashed potato in their dressing room backstage, and watched a Western on television.

During the second show a male fan appeared on stage and attempted to grab Paul and George. He was quickly bundled away by security staff and thrown out of the venue.

After the concert The Beatles piled into their black limousine to drive back to London to attend a Christmas party at the Scotch Of St James nightclub.

Con esta agrupación grabaría tres discos: Union, Live in the Galaxy y The Blue Room.

  • "What is occupational therapy?" "Do you help people find jobs?" ... No, not necessarily, but I can. The problem, as an OT faces, is explaining over and over again what we do. We shouldn't get discouraged by it, but be happy to educate others on how awesome our profession is!
Here's my elevator speech: "Occupations are meaningful activities that a person does in their everyday life. Occupational therapy is a health profession that guides and empowers the individuals to engage in occupations to the best of their abilities, despite of injury, disease, or disability."

  • #OTD, December 10th 1976 - #ADayAtTheRaces released in #UK &
#SomebodyToLove / #WhiteMan released in #USA .
👑
The group thought #MikeStone's expertise in recording vocals indispensable, and he would certainly earn his fee on "Somebody To Love." A yearning, masterfully arranged vocal extravaganza that Mercury had penned in a gospel style, the song was the big-hitter , a bona fide classic. Sessions for Queen's 5th album ran from July to November 1976. No expense was spared, the group running up a then-profligate £40,000 on production costs. "White Man," Brian May's sledgehammer-heavy song is about the plight of the #NativeAmerican #Indians.Once again, it's Freddie Mercury's imagination that runs riot, his melodic flair formidable and his songs packing arrangements that are constantly in flux. Debut albums by UK #punk acts #TheClash & #TheDamned were just months away as Queen unveiled ADATR . #British music weekly Sounds called the album "the most definitive justification of punk ever recorded," but the public voted with their wallets, still finding Queen's pomp and the #regal toff that Mercury played tongue-in-cheek far more absorbing than punk's squalid, no-frills riff age. Ultimately it mattered not a jot. #ADayAtTheRaces was another thoroughbred, and punk's attempts to depose Queen would prove fruitless. ©✒ James McNair .
.
Of course the public knew better then the stupid press the quality of Queen albums and the band & the absorbing aura of Queen`s one of a kind frontman. Queen were far better then all, because they didn`t need to act according to trends, they created the trends or followed a special genre in their own particular way. Somebody to Love is just a very fine example to that. Just like the other wonderful songs this amazing album has. Let`s celebrate this amazing album & this perfect Freddie composition. I`ll leave you with a soulful performance of the song at #RioDeJaneiro , #Brazil in 1985. Freddie`s spine tingling interpretation & his improvisation with the audience makes this song even more spectacular ❤🌟(🎥 © Queen via Chinwonder2) .

In late 1975, Queen recorded and released #ANightattheOpera, which was at the time, the most expensive album ever produced. The album was a massive success & featured the hit single “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which was No 1 in the UK charts for 9 weeks and is the third-best-selling single of all time in the UK. This propelled Queen to megastar status, their late 1975 tour sold out in record time & they were No 1 in the charts at the time of the concerts. For some crazy reason I didn’t get tickets for the City Hall gig .Demand had been huge & no-one was selling any tickets. While waiting desperately ,I climbed to a tiny window managed to squeeze through, finding myself above a sink in the upstairs ladies loo. I quickly sneaked out & found myself in the circle, just as Queen took to the stage, exploding into Bohemian Rhapsody. Queen were amazing that night. The crowd went crazy for Queen; they had now actually become stars; it seemed to me that they always knew they could &would. ©✒VintageRock

1991 - Queen were awarded Gold & Platinum for #BohemianRhapsody/'#TheseAreTheDaysOfOurLives, 3x Platinum and 4x Platinum 'Greatest Hits II', 10x Platinum 'Greatest Hits' UK sales & in 2018, #UniversalMusicGroup announced Bohemian Rhapsody is officially the most-streamed track from the 20th century, achieving more than 1.6 billion global streams. That qualification also makes it the most-streamed classic rock song of all time. ©✒ Billboard .
