  • The view from one of our eco-cabanas. Waking up to this never gets old, colours change throughout the day and with the full moon at the moment - the star scattered sky and reflection in the calm ocean is like something out of a fairy tale... We will try and capture this view at night... TBC... #beautifulviews #holidayheaven #deckviews #bestbeach

  • So... Hello 1st post in 5 months. Anyways... we've made it through our first winter off the grid on Fort Yokom! (My hubby came up with it ok) 😁 I'm proud to say. Of course there were challenges along the way... OF COURSE. But we've come out stronger and smarter and excited for next winter. It's now the RUN OFF season. My favorite time of the year💚 everything about 🌻spring🌻awakens my soul from winter slumber. Playing in the DIRT 🐌 soaking up the SUN🌞 and all things PLANTS.🌱🥀🌳🌾🌿 Getting a garden going and a humble start to my future food forest is what I'm most excited about🌳🍎🍆🍅🌶🌽 of course there are too many projects to talk about, still being on year 1 means there's a lot of work to be done, not that we're complaining 😁 if you look closely in the first picture you can see my humble abode ❤ many more spring posts to follow 💚 & have a beautiful day, beautiful people 💖

  • Do you appreciate what you already have?
OR
Are you thinking if it was 'just' another way, I'd appreciate it more? Or I'd feel more joyful about it?
Yeah, it dawned on me this morning (again!?!) that I had been saying 'No, I can't enjoy THAT because it's not exactly how I want it to be!' Easy example, I haven't had a bath in our place for over 12-months because the bath was not like the gigantic new bath we installed in our previous home. Note the word, previous, I'm not going to be able to have a bath in this tub again. But for some reason I was judging all other baths as not good enough for me to have a bath in.
Well, I was pushing a bit on the weekend, in my head, thinking THINKING can find me the answers. And I just let out this whinge 'I want a bath!!!!' Hubs is like, um go have one!
Like, der Kel.
And of course the bath was MAGICAL and words flowed after my bath.
HARDER example (see I'm still judging my examples - all good I have awareness of it - Step 1, right??!) I'm currently working a day job that is within an industry I find difficult to manage/deal with at times. It's also not somewhere I see myself long-term. BUT I need to stay for a bit longer yet. I LOVE the science, I LOVE teaching and mentoring junior scientists. BUT I had this thought last night, how am I going to cope?
After this morning's realisation - Acceptance, non-judgement and gratefulness - that I CAN enjoy where I am right now.
And yes it can be that simple.
If you'd like to spend 30 minutes with me, to unravel a story you've been telling yourself to see the bigger picture please book here https://kellieguenther.as.me/

  • * * 🏕 OFF GRID ADVENTURES 🏕 * *
For the last few days this ☝️has been home @alma__mundi, an off grid eco retreat in Tortosa, Spain. I came for their Active Retreat; 48hrs of hiking, kayaking, biking, yoga & meditation + some proper time out - read no electricity, wifi, phone signal, plus compost toilet, outdoor shower & yoga pod (swipe ⬅️ for the amazing handiwork of the owners, Siggy & Etienne)
•
Not only did I meet incredibly inspiring people, I was forced outside of my comfort zone, with back to basics (shock horror no straightener, mirrors, hot water, or make up) & no phone to fall back on during moments of solitude or quiet. Here’s what I‘m taking home & what I want to remember
•
1️⃣ I know it & you know it, but NOTHING bad happens when you turn off your📱phone. In fact, good stuff happens. You pay more attention, you put in more effort to connect with people & you get moments where your brain can wander & be in solitude - this is where the magic 💫 happens. Phones steal attention, removing the focus from what is important & this is something I need to learn to manage better
•
2️⃣ I am, a lot of the time, living in my comfort zone, esp. recently. It is comfortable there, but stepping outside, as challenging as it is, is rewarding & reminds me that big life happens THERE, outside of the comfort zone. Doing something you think you can’t, be it solo travel, jumping in a lake or kayaking down a river makes you realise there is a big world of opportunity & you can. And, even if you don’t get it right, you learn
•
3️⃣ In our hyper connected world, it’s helpful to step away & ask, how do I want to spend my life? We are bombarded with white noise 24-7 & it’s easy to get caught up with the unimportant, forgetting what we really want to spend time on. If nothing else, take time to book 1 thing now, today, that you want to do this year for you. You will not regret it
•
And so we have it - an off grid adventure. Big thanks to Siggy, Etienne, Cris & my long time adventure partner Abby for a brilliant weekend💫 we will be back 💫
