  • JOHN COUGAR - Nothin’ Matters and What If It Did? (1980, Riva)
5/12/9. Mellencamp gets slighted as just a Springsteen wannabe, but he’s always been far more nihilistic. They both spent the early part of their careers trying to rewrite “Dark End of the Street” but where The Boss’s star-crossed lovers are optimistic against all odds, Mellencamp strips away the facade of false hope. Jack and Diane are who you find when you reach the end of Thunder Road. Where nothing matters, and what if it did? Anyhow, “Ain’t Even Done With The Night” is the best pop song either of them ever wrote.

  • Tips on balancing a full-time nursing job, grad school, and travel:⁣⁣
- iPad = game changer. Traveling while going to school is manageable when all my e-textbooks are on my iPad! Also, lets be real... writing a paper isn’t THAT bad when you’re enjoying tacos on the beach + getting your tan on 🌮 ⁣⁣
- The triple P... 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. Book travel accommodations before prices are hiked up. Prioritize self-care time to refill your cup.⁣⁣
- STRATEGIC POINTS! I seriously can’t remember the last time I bought a plane ticket full price. I put all of my expenses on my credit card (ily AmEx) and rack up points- that way my everyday expenses pay for my vacay travel expenses! BUT, you gotta pay off your credit card bill at the end of the month.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Where are you traveling next? 🧳

  • HEY EVERYONE! It's Saturday, but here is a #throwback I need to get back to this feeling! 😁 I've been so consumed lately with advancing my career and trying not to make those who have helped me along the way feel as if I don't appreciate them. Honestly, I've been over working myself to the point where I just feel like a ROBOT 🤖 going through the motions. I'm not enjoying life like I used to. I LITERALLY ONLY SLEEP AND WORK 🤯🥴I want to walk in with THIS SMILE, ENERGY and GRACE. Today I reflect on the person I have been and the woman I want to be. I have determined that I DO NOT WANT TO BE A WORK-A-HOLIC. It's important to take time for ourselves and rest. (One of the PERKS of being a nurse is only have to work 3 days a week. I clearly bumped my head when I decided to do more than that🙃🙃.) When we feel burned out, stressed or just need to have a moment..... WE should TAKE the TIME to get OUR MINDS TOGETHER. #careforyourself so that you can #careforothers #nurselife #rn #bsn #adn #np #nurse #scrublife #scrubs #weekendvibes #nursing #nursingschool #nursingstudent #studentlife #school #studentnurse #futurenurse #futureRN #passion #miami #PICU #picuRN

  • ⭐️ Study Tips for PA school ⭐️⁣
⁣
In light of back to school season, I wanted to make a post on some of my study tips. ⁣
⁣
Studying in PA school or Graduate school is very different than studying in undergrad. I had to change up how I studied, to adapt to learning a LOT more material in a shorter amount of time. ⁣
⁣
We typically had 10 classes per semester which equaled around 25 credits, doubling the amount I took in undergrad.⁣
⁣
So how did I study and what are my tips?⁣
⁣
1️⃣ Syllabus week, make a calendar and put in every exam, quiz, and assignment you have. The key to success is being organized and planning ahead. This way I knew what weeks I had to really buckle down, and which weeks were a little more laid back. ⁣
2️⃣ Try your best not to procrastinate. It will be impossible to read every textbook page the professor assigns, or even every lecture note, but at least aim to study a little everyday. With so much information, it is impossible to cram. The more times you can review the information, the easier you will recall it.⁣
3️⃣ Before each lecture, I liked to copy the powerpoint slides into a word document so I could type my notes directly into it and print it out after class. That saved me time, so I didn’t have to go home and transfer all my notes from notability to a word document. It was easier for me to study that way than to read 100 slides. If you like studying slides, I recommend notability for typing up your notes there during lecture and studying off those slides after. ⁣
4️⃣ Active learning is key to remembering all the information. I typically would read the notes once and highlight information and write on it. The first read is for me to understand the topic. The next few times, I would read mostly my highlights and things I wrote down to try to memorize the smaller details. ⁣
5️⃣ Practice questions! Smarty Pance is great for didactic year, as the questions are a little easier and more straightforward. In clinical year I recommend Rosh Review!⁣
⁣
These are just some of my tips! I hope it helps you ❤️ Good luck with school, I am excited for all of your journeys! ⁣
