Since my post last week, I really started getting more active in my pigeon pose
(and it’s funny because a teacher cued it this way later in the week in class)
It’s so easy to come into pigeon and just let it all sink in, hanging out in all joints;
but when we choose to be more active in the pose, or at least move into the pose more actively than usual,
we begin to build more strength, endurance, and knowledge of the way our body works.
I’m not just squeezing my legs so hard that I lift here, I’m focusing on drawing my back hip forward, and my front hip back.
This helps bring the hips into better alignment, and is a strategy to keep you from dumping into your joints when actively working in the passive forward folding version of the pose.
One thing to keep in mind is that if your low back isn’t vibing with the shoulders stacking over hips and hands off the floor, then you can always keep your hands on the floor in front of you, or think of being active in the passive version.
I just don’t know how to use Instagram videos and couldn’t make a longer video to show you that version 🤷🏼♀️
But you are strong, independent yogis, that can listen to your own bodies, and work into poses in the way that feels best for you in that moment - right? 🙌
Once again, if this lovely accent wall and lighting is your j a m,
