  • My 5th visit in the mangroves turned out to be one of the experiences of a lifetime. A completely rain soaked sundarbans, continuous downpour made it difficult to bird however the journey had been incredible. Although in the low light it was tough to get photographs we wished to click still there were some impeccable moments when I thanked Zeus for the storm which gave us the opportunity to experience the biosphere reserve in a totally different way.
While our boat was going through a small creek we came across this hyper carnivorous apex predator, Saltwater crocodile.
Salt crocodiles are extreme dangerous, along with the Nile crocs Saltwater crocodiles are the two most infamous crocodiles as both have strongest tendencies to treat humans as prey.

These beasts can grow enormous in size even more than 20ft, a crocodile shot in the Bay of Bengal in 1840 was reported at 10.1 m (33 ft 2 in). Furthermore, this specimen was claimed to have a belly girth of 4.17 m (13 ft 8 in) and a body mass estimated 3,000 kg (6,600 lb). Also according to Wondjina, the mythology of Indigenous Australians, the saltwater crocodile was banished from the fresh water for becoming full of bad spirits and growing too large, unlike the freshwater crocodile, which was somewhat revered.

However this one in the frame was more likely 10 to 12ft long.
