I’ve touched on this in a previous post, mentioning an podcast that @ddlovato did with @ashleygraham. Within this episode, Demi expresses that she realized she didn’t have to always LOVE who she was as long as she ACCEPTED who she was.
*
This really changed my perspective of myself. Like most of you, I struggle to love the things I hate about me. With love being such a strong, meaningful word — how could I just decide that my imperfections were lovable? It’s okay to start small. It’s okay to just accept these things about myself until I reach that destination of love.
*
While it may be tough to get there, it is possible to fall in love with yourself and all you have to offer the world. It may not be today or tomorrow, but I hope this day is in the very near future for all of us 💜

  • "But he (or she) is SO "NICE"...." *RED FLAG!* 🚩

We often EXCUSE the moments in which an abuser behaves abusively, because we believe that DEEP down, they are the "nice" person we THOUGHT we got to know, while they were still grooming, or when they are hoovering us again... 😕

That’s why it is SO IMPORTANT to understand that "niceness" is NOT a character trait!
Do NOT ignore the #RedFlags just because someone is "nice" sometimes, or even MOST of the time.
Learning the difference between “niceness” and TRUE KINDNESS was one of the BIGGEST STEPS I took in my personal recovery from narcissistic abuse! 🔥🔥💪🏼🦄🔥🔥 "NICENESS" and "CHARM" are two of the TOP RED FLAGS that you might be dealing with a SOCIOPATH, PSYCHOPATH, or NARCISSIST! 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 The “NICEST” people I EVER knew turned out to be the MOST ABUSIVE.
REMEMBER THIS ALWAYS whenever a manipulator turns on the charm again:
Abusers ARE the "EVIL TWIN". They are NOT their GROOMING BEHAVIOR.

  • Over-helpers are sneaky because they believe that helping is ALWAYS good. They go above and beyond to see how they can assist you. The problem is if you grew up with a parental figure as an over helper they crush your self-worth because they don’t listen to you and allow you to do something different from what they want. ⁣
⁣⁣
⁣Deep down they are not comfortable with others not being ok, so they need to fix the situation. For example a client recently told me her mother saw her crying and felt bad for her. The client asked her mother to stop and not email the person to remedy the situation, she was going to do it. Her mother emailed the person anyway and got everything under control. The mother didn’t ask my client if it was ok or if she wanted her to contact the person. The mother did it anyway. They can’t stop helping and don’t listen when you say no. ⁣
⁣⁣
⁣If you tell them you didn’t want their help it’s easy to get chastised. How could someone not want help? Helping is considered such a wonderful thing. However, there is such a thing as too much and it’s often at the expense of the child if the parent or parental figure was an over-helper. ⁣
⁣⁣
⁣If you had a parental figure who was invasive the way out of it is to set boundaries. That will stop the relationship from continuing to be invasive. ⁣
⁣⁣
⁣If you want a better relationship with an over-helper please join my FB group Unquantifiable Trauma. It’s an interactive community for those who want to develop their wounding which is difficult to see and describe. We would love to have you!⁣

  • I believe in the Law of Attraction but not when it comes to abuse. Based on the principle, what you think abut comes about - what you desire is what you attract into your reality.

There are many spiritual groups which believe that we attract every experience and malady into our lives, and this spiritually bypasses and shames victims for the abuse they endured at the hands of another.

We do not attract the narcissist - we gravitate toward them based on our belief systems and conditioning. We gravitate toward what is familiar.

If you grew up in a toxic family system you will believe that chaos is love. If your needs were ignored and dismissed, you will believe that self sacrifice and people pleasing is love. If you were physically or sexually abused as a child, you may mistake promiscuity for love.

You didn’t desire any of those things when you were a child, you were conditioned by your environment too accept this as normal. So when it comes to the Law off Attraction, this is misaligned.

When you do the work to heal the trauma with the proper therapy and tools, you can use the Law of Attraction principle to reprogram belief systems and change your inner feelings to approach life with a renewed attitude.

You did not attract this. Suggesting otherwise would be shaming you to believe that the abuse was your fault. It is not. Don’t fall into the trap of spiritual bypassing.

All the Honey,

Trish 🖤🐝🍯

  • TRUTH! 💯
Once I understood the difference between “niceness” and TRUE KINDNESS, I FINALLY understood that abusers are NOT nice people at ALL!
An abuser’s nice moments are JUST GROOMING behavior, and their mean (abusive) moments are the ONLY moments when they show their TRUE SELVES.
Niceness is NOT a character trait. “We must learn and then teach our children that niceness does not equal goodness. Niceness is a decision, a strategy of social interaction; it is not a character trait. People seeking to control others almost always present the image of a nice person in the beginning.” - Gavin de Becker

Be VERY wary of anyone who stresses that they are a “nice person”. Watch for the RED FLAGS!

⁣
I know it is hard to believe that there is good in the future when you have only had trauma in your past. ⁣
⁣
But once you are aware of "why" the trauma happened you will know the path to take in the future that will keep you from it. ⁣

You will find happiness again

  • Now is the time where people's true feelings about you will be revealed.

Even the narcissist will probably try you 🤷🏾‍♀️ - The difference is that they're testing, not investing in you. It just serves as a reminder of what NOT to go back to.

  • There's a difference between tired and trauma-tired. You may be facing off with both right now, managing the global crisis and its impacts on your routines, and the deep historic fatigue of surviving trauma.

The tired can hide in sleeplessness and anxiety. It can hide in agitation and irritability. It can hide in fear. It can hide in fidgets and busyness.

Listen to your body. Do what your body and mind need today, even if it's in snippets between the extra work you now have, or in the long boredom or anxiety of less.
You are not alone. I'm walking this with you.

  • We think they come back because they love us and can't live without us. That they have suddenly realized the error of their ways and how badly they've treated us. They show up with flowers, an "I'm sorry" - maybe even a few tears, and some empty promises to change. They might even agree to go to that couples counseling you always talked about.
These are tools of emotional manipulation that work almost every time, until we are able to see them for what they are. Abusive partners and narcissists all use the same tactics to keep us trapped in the relationship so they can continue to use us as #supply in order to meet their needs for sex, food, status, money, somewhere to sleep, dinner, the use of your car, a babysitter for their kids, free cook and housekeeper etc.
This is called #hoovering and #lovebombing and is part of the #cycleofabuse
The intermittent nature of their inconsistent behaviour, appearance in and out of your life, periods of disappearing, silent treatment, ghosting etc followed by periods of treating you well for a short period of time is called #intermittentreinforcement and is what keeps hope going, and leads to the addictive nature of these types of relationships. This is what creates the unhealthy attachment to our abuser known as a #traumabond or #stockholmsyndrome
Addiction to a narcissist is real.
Please click on the hashtags and read about these specific words to learn more about why you can't let go.
