  • I was asked to provide a photo with neutral background. All my selfies normally have funnels, gantrycranes, sunsets or ships in the background! So, one with neutral background had to be produced.. #neutraldecor #mugshotmonday

  • @maggieboydceramics put every single one of our cone 6 glazes on this mug, yep, all 22 of them. We think they look cute together.

  • Here's a little video showing how I do the rough clean up of my wall tiles! Each one then gets sponged and signed before its bisque fire🔥

  • Just a family of happy little trees enjoying this bitter cold. Don’t they look like they were made for this kind of weather? I was not. Anyone else feel like it’s a little too cold for mid-November? 🥶 🌲 ❄️ Come warm up with this squad at the @bostonwomensmarket this Sunday at @warehouse_xi from 11-4. There will be lots of handmade treats to get you through the cold!

  • “The more wishes you make, the more magnificent Fantasia will become,” the coffee version ☕️ in honor of throwbacks this week (we all know you’ve been binging Disney+), I wanted my (very late) #mugshotmonday to be one of my prized throwbacks. Neverending Story has been and will always be a favorite of mine. Let yourself feel that nostalgia sometimes and bring out the kid in you! ✌🏻 Lindsey #selflovecoffee #selflove #neverendingstory #mentalhealth #mentalfitness

  • Decided to make a big ass mug for your hot choc-y. (Or for whatever you want.) This bad boy will accommodate loads of your beverage plus all the marshmallows you want (personal opinion: ew) and a mound of whipped cream on your bevvie (personal opinion: gimme a 1:1 hot choc:whipped cream ratio pls.). Also never taking off this apron from Erika @portlandaproncompany.

  • I'm in production mode! Making as many pots as I can for the last shop update of the year. I'm enjoying taking little detours from my usual offerings to make one offs like this mug, just to keep things interesting. Believe it or not, a potter can get a little bored making too many of the same design! I can only speak for myself, but my creative energy wants to keep moving, shifting and exploring new terrain. So...after the holidays I want to indulge in playing with a bunch of ideas that have been waiting patiently for me to try them out🙂

  • A very handsome trio fresh out the kiln this morning.. These guys will be first available @hepworthwakefield Christmas market weekend, from Friday 22nd of November and then from the GSC webshop from Monday 25th.

I decided a while ago I definitely make too many things and I could/should maybe cut down on a few bits, but then they go and look like this and I'm right back to weighing out a million different balls of clay 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️🖤

Didn't I tell you I'm now on Etsy? 😜 I know it's been a long time coming but I wanted to make sure I was happy with my designs before pressing the button. I think I'm ready. There are a couple of mug designs on there now.⠀

⠀
Thank you for your ongoing support and purchases. It means I can pursue my dream. 🙏⠀I'll be sorting orders out this week. In the meantime I'm off to the studio. #calmlycreate

  • It’s not until you hold a pot by another maker that you can truly get a grasp of it, pictures alone can only show so much. I’m always asked by others, “Isn't it strange that people buy your work without even holding it or seeing it in the flesh first?”. To my surprise it hasn’t yet seemed to hinder peoples eagerness. Selling online is still a relatively new phenomenon, especially in such a way many makers are nowadays, without gallery or shop representing them. It’s all happened very fast and the market is still adjusting as things go on. Of course we’re mostly small fry in the grand scheme of things but I’ve seen numerous folk go from posting their work online to starting giant businesses and exhibiting in world renown galleries simply through their own effort in putting themselves out there.

I’ve been posting everyday on Instagram since April 2014 without missing a day, (my post count doesn’t match that as I long ago deleted many of my early posts taken with my trusty phone). There’s a lot of effort that goes into it, it’s a second job for sure when I’m in the full swing of pottery production, you’ve got to put in the effort to grow an account but I’m not sure how long I can see myself doing this, especially with this sort of output. Social media platforms have ceased to exist in the past and perhaps one of the most worrying things as a maker whose risen on this platform, alongside thousands of others in numerous crafts and professions, is longevity, what happens if it stops being effective or the platform dies. I hope I’ve made enough of an impact to last without it and hopefully the resurging interest in crafts and handmade is enough to propel a generation of makers forward without having to rely on posting online everyday, and yet, I suppose it’s responsible for the success of so many, myself included, whom without it may have never gained the exposure we did. I don’t see myself posting until the day I die, or when I decide to stop making pottery, but I’m endlessly thankful as it has given me the means to setup my own studio, kilns and all, which is mainly all down to you, my followers, and the ones who’ve bought something along the way, so thank you.
