  • T minus three months until my big move to San Diego ☀️. While I’ve known it’s coming for about 10 months, shit’s getting real. 🥴 This weekend marks the beginning of Gretchen’s farewell tour... Friday night at the theater, one of my very favorite parts of living in Chicago. 🎭 You can’t throw a rock without hitting live theater. Then today’s romp through a museum that’s been on my ‘I wanna get there’ list. But what’s most important is getting to spend these precious last days in this city I love so much with the amazing women who have become my family. I’m committed to feeling all of the feelings. The excitement of starting my life with Tim on the left coast ❤️. The grief I feel leaving this place and leaving these people💔. It’s taking a lot of energy to stay in the ping pong game where my heart is the ball (which may be why I crawled into bed at 5:00 on Saturday night 😴). I want to honor the years I’ve spent here. I want to do this the right way for my heart. I want to enter this next chapter of my life with grace. 🙏 This is my prayer ~g

  • Yesterday I walked through the house on video chat 🥰 It looks so so good! We added more electrical plugs (bc you can never have enough) and moved a few light switches. Now we’re waiting on the electrical inspection and next up is drywall. They say our close date is end of March or early April 💗 This is a view standing inside our garage. The window on the left is one of our master windows, in the middle is our slider and to the right you can see our fireplace. Can’t wait to see it all with drywall!!! 🖤

  • So I’m off.
On another adventure.
Well not just yet and there’s a twist.
Since my first visit to Edinburgh in 2017, and after experiencing the sense of home I felt within a city I’d been too only twice... I’ve wanted to plonk me self out of my comfort zone and try and find work/ live there.
For the past 3 years I’ve promised myself that THIS YEAR I will move... to Brighton, to Edinburgh to Brugge... just somewhere, anywhere that’s going to provide me with new lessons, new memories and a new daily routine.
So THIS IS IT.
Well it will be on the 13th of January.
I’m bloody petrified lads. Leaving my besties, my home town... because I know that this is going to feel FAR more daunting than jetting off to a sun filled country, and there’s potential that it could not work out at all and I’ll be back home within two weeks, jobless, living back at my grandparents and a little bit gutted.
But ya know what... I’m done with the whats if, the worries, the I’ll do this when...
I’m young, I’ve got no commitments, I’ve got wonderful grandparents that let me store all my possessions at their gaff and bloody beautiful pals that keep telling me they will be there for me regardless.
I feel supported...Like I’ve got my own little cheerleading team cheering me on.
And most importantly I’ve got belief in myself that if I want to make this new venture work I CAN... and if it goes tits up... I know I can pull my shit together and crack on with plan B.
Life goes on.
Sometimes plans work and sometimes they break.
Sometimes we break with them and then have to piece ourselves back together again, a little differently each time.
A few months ago my life was controlled by the sense of terror I felt when spontaneity showed itself. I honestly couldn’t bare the thought of not knowing what was going to happen EVERY WAKING MINUTE OF THE DAY.
But now?
I trust myself and my ability to bounce back, because I’ve done it so many time’s previously.
Life ain’t that serious and fuck ups are inevitable. But don’t stop yourself from bracing the unknow, it might be bloody good fun.

  • When we moved to Pagosa Springs in July, I knew it was going to be a lifestyle change (we moved from the city life in Nashville, and I’m originally from the beaches in New Jersey), but this holiday season has exceeded my expectations. In the past month, our little town has turned into a scene from a Christmas movie. Downtown covered in lights, blue skies backdropped with snow-covered mountains, conversations had with the person next to you at the coffee shop (who you’ll most likely run into again at some point), smiles all around from people just coming back from either skiing the slopes or soaking in the hot springs, wishes of a Merry Christmas everywhere you go. I’ll be honest and say that the transition wasn’t the easiest for me when we first moved here (elevation change, starting pretty much everything from scratch, no Target 🙃), but I am really starting to feel settled, and I’m very fortunate that it’s in sweet Pagosa. Don’t be afraid to give scary and uncomfortable things a chance, my friends. You’ll know what’s right.
•
From our mountain-nestled, Colorado home to your warm home, wishing you lots of love and a very Merry Christmas. ♥️♥️♥️
•
Ps. For a further glimpse in Pagosa Springs during this time of year, take a look at the “Holidays” highlight in my profile. 🌲

  • I got to travel with the family to the east coast due to an interview 👩‍⚕️. Got accepted to a wonderful fellowship and I can't believe I'm going to live there in a couple months. 🤯🤯 Living as a eastern city mouse is wild to me, but so thankful for my family and friends who supported me with this decision and encouraged me throughout this whole process 😍. #hellobaltimore #movingacrossthecountry #workworkwork #missinghomealready

  • It’s crazy how your life can drastically change in one year... This photo marks one year ago!
.
One year ago today, Matt and I were hiking in Arizona with some friends that we went to visit. The thought of us moving to Arizona wasn’t even on our radar. It hadn’t ever even crossed our minds!
.
Now, on this same day one year later, we LIVE in Arizona 🤯
.
It’s crazy how your life path can change so quickly. I’m thankful for allowing myself to keep my heart and mind open to whatever possibilities life might throw your way. Moving here was a huge leap of faith for us, but we couldn’t be happier!
.
My point is, don’t limit yourself to what you think you’re expected to do in this life of yours. There is an unlimited amount of things you can become or do. Allow yourself to explore a little bit ❤️

  • It’s official. ⠀
.⠀
We no longer own our Ohio City house. I can’t believe how long, yet how fast the process has been. ⠀
.⠀
We’ve been working long and hard for a year now to get our house ready to sell, and here we are. ⠀
.⠀
I had NO IDEA how stressful this process was going to be. I’m surprised I didn’t break out in shingles lol Thanks to everyone for all your help getting this into action and moving forward.⠀
. ⠀
If anyone has any tips with moving across the country with a toddler and dogs, PLEASE reach out. ⠀
. ⠀
Have you sold/bought a house before? How was your expierence? ⠀

  • Winter is here in Santa Fe, New Mexico and I could not be more excited about it. This season I’m excited to get back to painting. Between buying a house, moving in, unpacking, adopting a cat and finally settling into my new home,
painting has been something I’ve thought a lot about but not something I’ve had the chance to actively do daily, like I love to.
Now I finally am finding the time to do something I love, and it feels really good. Not only am I really inspired by all the time I’ve been spending in the mountains surrounding my new home, but I also feel more grounded then I have in a long time.

I’m not really the kind of person who “settles in” to a new place/ job/ activity right away, in fact, it takes me a really, really long time to feel settled and calm in a new situation. I often try and “fake it till I make it” in these new situations and then just crash and feel drained by trying so hard to be relaxed when I’m just not. That’s kinda how this move has been for me. I was honestly “faking it till I make it” in New Mexico for months and months.
And I don’t know if it’s from finally settling down and buying a home, or the beauty of the wild mountains behind that home, or me slowing simply slowing down due to the colder weather, but I finally feel like I’m in love with New Mexico. And I’m finally feeling grounded here.

I don’t have to pretend to love anything, I don’t have to run around exploring every new place or hike for hours and hours to find a “perfect spot”. I’m just really happy and thankful that I get to live in such a beautiful place. And I honestly hope that where ever you live, you are happy just exploring in your own backyard or cuddling up on your couch! I’m finally feeling happy/ blessed/ thankful to live here. I finally realize that the grass is really greener where you water it, or snow looks prettier, whichever. .
