  • Are you moving well? Could you be moving better?
The second question may be difficult to answer really. Our bodies change movement patterns subtly over time to accommodate for injury or simply become a habit.
When we have changed so quietly over time, it may be difficult to notice habits which are creating strain. Our way of moving feels ‘normal’.

  • There's plenty of activities that you can do outside of just training in the gym that will contribute to your overall health and fitness.

Daily activities such as, going for a long walk with the dog (which is one of my favourite), playing social sports or having a kick with the kids, all add to your total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) and non exercise activity thermogenesis (N.E.A.T).
• • •
Some of these might seem really simple, but making the effort to increase your daily acitivty will go a long way to creating a sustainable and long-lasting relationship with your overall health.

  • I was just doing a workout and found my mind wandering back to many years ago. ⁣
⁣
I all of a sudden was feeling frustrated and sad because I started remembering the way I trained around 15 years ago. ⁣
⁣
I lifted heavy weights and trained like a machine back then. There is no way I could lift what I did back then and do the same types of workouts.⁣
⁣
I had to really focus on getting my thoughts back to now and how good it feels just to be doing a workout and moving.⁣
⁣
In reality my workouts today are more varied and I focus on doing what feels right for me and my body right now. ⁣
⁣
I am lucky that I can workout and enjoy that feeling of accomplishing my workout. ⁣
⁣
If we focus on what we used to be able to do or how we looked way back yonder, all it will do is send us down that rabbit hole of getting older. ⁣
⁣
Celebrate who you are and what you can do now and just get out and enjoy moving and being your very best you xx

Our body is so much more than a vessel, it is our guidance system, our inner wisdom, our facilitator of life and it holds or releases pain, joy and pleasure within it. The more we connect to it, the more we connect to ourselves and the more we connect to it, the better we can express whatever is going on within out into the world. We store pain and past traumas or hurt in the body on a physiological level, only by learning to have awareness around it and then expressing it out can we shift things from our lives and our bodies. Dance is such an incredible channel for expressive work and something I am passionate about using with my clients and on my retreats. We so often live in our minds and are so disconnected from our bodies. We get so caught up worrying what other people will think, about how we will look that we do often forget how to express and connect to ourselves.

When we REALLY connect to our incredible bodies we connect to ourselves and our intuition on a much greater level, we can shift out what no longer serves us, experience pleasure on a much greater level, we can connect to a wild, primal part of ourselves and we are way more in tune with what we really want! There is so much power in fully letting go and getting to the point when you don’t really care what anyone thinks about how you move and how you express anymore! I mean look at the fierce as fuck expressive face I am pulling 😂💃 thankyou to @taylor.victoriaa for capturing my expressive self on the completely sober daytime dance in Bali 🦁 write YES if you would like some of this in your life! 👇🏼

  • I've started to increase my activity in little ways.

When we stop at the gas station or grocery store, we RACE in the parking lot.  We look for cars, of course.  It's not much, but he loves it and it gets me moving.  Great thing that since losing almost 65lbs...I CAN DO IT!

You don’t have to be a member of a fancy schmantzy gym or high end spa or even The Inquisitorial Squad to have a good workout.
-
You don’t have to lift so heavy the vein in your forehead bursts through your skin.
-
You don’t have to sweat so much your butt cheeks feel like a big stinky swamp.
-
And don’t let anyone fool into thinking you don’t know what to do or you don’t know where to start or you can’t do anything worthwhile.
-
You can.
-
You can always walk.
-
You can always drink more water.
-
You can always eat more fruits & vegetables.
-
You can always stretch.
-
You can always do something.
-
Because something is always better than nothing.
-
And as long as you do something and do that something consistently...no matter how simple it may seem...you will improve.

You will make progress.
-
You will get better.
-
It’s not a matter of “if.”
-
Simply a matter of time.

And fortunately for you and me...that’s exactly what we’ve got.

After listening to @sportspodiatryinfo lecture at the International Running Conference last week, I learned so much about the usage of orthotics and what we thought we knew, and what we think we know now

(Which btw if you have not listened to his lecture on orthotics, you need to…I gave all of you the code for the course, I hope you used it;) .
In his lecture he cited, 3 articles (Bruckner 1987, Nester 2009, Castro et al) noting the variation in the human foot.  And guess what…there’s a lot.  Bruckner noted the tons of anatomical differences in the subtalar joint (where we all thought  pronation comes from). Nester found that some people have more Triplanar motion through the talonavicular joint than the subtalar joint.  And Castro found tons of variation in the TMTJ joints.

The foot has TONS of beautiful variations to it
2️⃣
Not everyone’s foot should look the same
3️⃣
Most people actually stand in a mild to moderate foot pronated position (IT’S OKAY!!!)
4️⃣
Thoroughly evaluate your patients or if you are a patient and are concerned because you have been told you have flat feet, or an ‘over pronator’ (I hesitate to write that word 😉) seek professional advice to put the myths of pronation to rest

Also Mood: one of my favorite little lady patients called me her “PT Nurse” when she introduced me to her grandson😭😂 _____________________________________________________________
Nevertheless, I think it’s true to say that PTOT is in a forever complicated relationship... but honestly without the other we would not thrive. Hashtag I will gently correct people til I’m retired (and probs still after) to let them know that we are different and not synonymous, but if I had to choose another profession to be confused with on the daily, I would choose PT! OT loves PT!! PS I didn’t create this design! Therefore I kept it as is without edits- found on a fb therapy group!! Tag yo PT or OT bestie and give them a holler⭐️⭐️ @jaygieseke.dpt

  • Josh and Michelle broke the barrier of a new trick just before GGBY! From the line, to shoulders, back to the line. Tandem slacklining is one of the many ways the boundaries of slacklining are being pushed. People are walking together on both highlines and ground lines. At GGBY, @slacklinejosh and @chelleslacks will teach TWO workshops on basic standing, walking, spins, and even “lifts”, as well as the trust, communication, and technique involved in such an intimate partner activity. The workshops will be on Monday and Thursday, so definitely make it to one! #tandemslackline #slackdance #slacklinedance
