  • When was the last time you allowed yourself to do nothing, to purposefully use time doing whatever you want, being open to whatever you encounter, without an end goal in mind?⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
More and more research is demonstrating the benefits of idleness ⁣- essentially, when the mind is left to search for its own stimulation, it literally makes us more creative and better at problem-solving. For that to happen though, total idleness, real disengagement from work or whatever you think you should be doing, is required. Being removed from something, like all the obligations and concerns of modern life, allows you to get perspective on the thing you’ve removed yourself from. It’s hard to have broader, more critical thoughts about a situation when you’re caught in the middle of it, whereas doing nothing gives you enough time to let these these higher-level thoughts & feelings, which usually reside down in your subconscious, rise up and eventually turn into conscious decisions about what’s actually meaningful to you.⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
I love a digital detox, but one thing I often notice around them is this narrative that all you need to do is clear your head and then you’ll be able to work more efficiently. But your ideas about the work and why you’re working haven’t really changed. In contrast, getting into flow states that have nothing to do with intentional productivity gives you time to wonder if you’re even at the right job anymore - maybe you’re not actually sure.⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
The triggers for these flow states are as diverse as each of us, but as humans natural environments are a reliable cue to our subconscious to start perceiving higher. Perception is way more distributed throughout the body than we typically realize, and Nature offers us a richness of information that meets all of our senses and ways of knowing, far beyond just visual information playing out on a screen.⁣
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁣
Anyway, here's to your me-time today!🖤 ⁣#nourishyourmind #morningmeditation #TimoutTuesday #antaralife 📷@salir.life⁣

  • When you wake up at 4:45am and can’t even blame your kid, rbe only upside...it’s never too early for second breakfast!! These TEFF FLOUR BUNS topped with a runny fried egg are the perfect energy booster. If you’re living the #glutenfreelife and you don’t know about teff flour...let me just tell you, I recently discovered it from @bimberibon and I’m O B S E S S E D! It’s this amazing super grain that comes from Ethiopia and it makes the ultimate gf flour for baking bread. The flavor is on point and it’s more moist than many of the other GF flour options out there. It’s also said to have a ton of health benefits including... “naturally balance hormone levels, boost immunity, stimulate digestion, strengthen bones, promote cardiovascular health and even aid weight loss.” Recipe for these buns is on the blog! • Smiling because of how MUCH I love moving my body (and how obsessed I am with resistance bands! Hahaha)! 😁.
.
I could go ON a rant with studies showing the efficacy of exercise in the prevention of neurodegenerative disease, depression, insulin resistance, metabolic syndrome, CVD, cancer, osteoporosis and MORE, but instead I’m going to tell you how incredibly HAPPY and EMPOWERED it makes me FEEL! 👊🏻💥💫🙌🏻.
.
I MOVE daily because it’s a BIG part of how I love and take care of myself along with my nutrition, sleep and daily mini meditations! 💖 How do YOU practice loving yourself? x P

There are many benefits of yoga after you have had a baby.⠀
• Restores hormonal balance⠀
• Eases pressure on the nervous system⠀
• Helps build up strength in the spine⠀
• Minimises the effects of holding and feeding a baby⠀
• Provides rest and instant relaxation⠀
• Helps reduce anxiety and depression⠀
• Restores the body towards full core strength.⠀
.⠀
It’s also a great way to socialise with other new mums. We even provide the tea and biscuits afterwards!⠀
.⠀
Class can be booked online through our website, by using the "MINDBODY" app or by calling reception on 0141 332 8800.

  • Self care feels like such a huge effort right now. I keep procrastinating, talking myself out of it, justifying why other stuff is more important, basically self sabotaging in any way I possibly can.⠀
.⠀
The more I avoid it, the harder it is to prioritise it. And then I start to spiral...⠀
- wine⠀
- sugar⠀
- stodgy food full of gluten, dairy and meat⠀
- too much TV⠀
- lazing around⠀
- late nights⠀
- sleeping in etc etc⠀
.⠀
All of the above affects me even more and become snappy, lethargic, grumpy, judgmental, negative and self-loathing.⠀
.⠀
I can blame it on a bunch of things...⠀
- the moon⠀
- winter⠀
- hormones⠀
- outside influences⠀
- stress⠀
- everyone else⠀
.⠀
But the reality is that I’m the one who’s responsible. I allowed myself to get to this point and I’m the only one who can pull myself out. There’s great power in that.⠀
.⠀
This is the time I need to prioritise self care more than ever, when it feels the hardest and least manageable.⠀
.⠀
Who else is ready to get out of their slump?

  • Sometimes Tuesday can be just as rough as Monday — but I try to wake with gratitude in my heart, and a positive mantra for my day. Even if I have a hard day ahead, setting a positive intention for it often sets the tone for me. #usikumantra

  • Want to know how I lost weight, have been the healthiest I have every been & for once in my life I can not remember the last time I weighed myself or even thought about restricting what I ate?⠀
⠀
I upgraded my nutrition.⠀
⠀
I learnt how to cook, eat & share with my family real food. No more restrictions. No more being a food prisoner, thinking about your next meal. No more ‘I’ll start the diet on Monday’ thinking either. ⠀
⠀
And this is what I LOVE sharing with Mums, trying to help as many as I can so you too don’t have to overthink everything when it comes to food. ⠀
⠀
My Be Lighter {Body & Mind} 28 Day Challenge is not a diet plan. Its a Group Program with me as your Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, that teaches you easy & healthy habits that will benefit your long term health of not only yourself but also your family. ⠀
⠀
To grab your spot for the Challenge starting Monday 3rd June, pop on over to the link in my bio @theintegrativemum 💛⠀
⠀
And, as always, if you have any questions at all about the Challenge be sure to send me a DM. I’d love to hear from you.

  • **A little about me** My name is Jessika Stringer, My love for the Natural health industry started back in 2012 when i my mother fell ill for the second time with small cell carcinoma of the lungs. As i watched the progression of this horrible disease, my inquisitive nature led to countless hours of researching and studying, not only about the the human body and how it worked, but what cancer is, the pathophysiology behind the different types and then onto contributing factors and treatments that are effective in supporting someone with such an illness. This formed the foundation of my passion for health care, in particular, Naturopathic, integrative and preventative medicine.
I started studying a Bachelor of Health Science In Nutritional edicine for 12 months and then decided that my end goal and passion was to qualify as a Naturopath, so i transitioned across into the Naturopathic Medicine degree to broaden my skill set, knowledge and tool box of treatments for people.
A Bachelor of Health Science degree in Naturopathic Medicine involves 4 years of full time study over 300 hours of on campus tuition, which includes over 40 subjects ranging from chemistry, pathology, biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, psychology, herbal medicine and phytochemistry, nutrition and practical clinical subjects just to name a few.

After years of dedication, hard work, breakdowns and tears, i have finally completed my theory subjects and reached the last few clinic placements of my degree.
Once qualified, i would like to focus on my 3 main areas of interest which are Gastro-intesintal health, endocrine health- in particular thyroid disorders and also mental health.

I truly believe health begins in the mind and the gut, therefore, our environment, the quality of the food we consume and our lifestyle all shape the foundations of our overall health and wellbeing. **CONTINUED IN COMMENTS**

  • When you have the same breakfast every morning and feel like you’re boring the shit out of everyone with your feed. But it’s true! I go through these stages where i literally have the same thing over and over and I love it. Right now it’s my oatmeal protein bowl - it’s a mix between a smoothie bowl and oatmeal because of how creamy it is. I cook 1/4 cup of rolled oats with egg whites until creamy as hell then mix @anchornewzealand unsweetened protein yoghurt to make it really stupidly creamy and good and then mix the same yoghurt with protein powder for on top - add crushed frozen raspberries and a toasted nut/seed of some kind and whalah around 30g of protein 💪🏼 sorry I’ll try mix it up sometime - but for the meantime here it goes again

I have a small network of friends here in Melbourne and any spare time I have available I enjoy spending with those people creating bigger better bonds. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • I work really hard to be my best self, but if I start to feel run down or exhausted, I know I need a little extra self-care & time to recharge. The following foods/ things are how I like to prevent burnout and keep me feeling well 😊⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
BONE BROTH⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
your gut bugs are responsible for your daily mood, energy, ability to learn and also how you deal with stress. The collagen and healing nutrients in broth help to reduce inflammation and heal and seal the gut lining - giving you an abundance of energy because you’ll be able to absorb more nutrients from your food!⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
MAGNESIUM⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
when your body doesn’t have enough magnesium, systemic inflammation can occur. This can result in fatigue, headaches, migraines, aches, pains, poor sleep and cramps. I make sure to have an epsom salt bath and eat magnesium rich foods such as; cacao, leafy greens, sesame seeds, brazil nuts and fermented dates and figs to top my magnesium levels back up.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
LIVER⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
gram for gram liver contains more nutrients than any other food + it also contains anti-fatigue factors. This is a non-negotiable for me as it helps me to feel energised and stay on top of my game. I have the yummiest chicken liver pate recipe on my website if you’re in need of a recipe.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
REDUCE SUGAR⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
sugar causes inflammation, decreases immunity and increases brain fog, so I try my best to avoid it. A great way to curb sugar cravings is by consuming more healthy fats. I have a whole blog post on this topic, visit my website if you’d like to read it.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
ELIMINATE TOXINS⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
if your body is constantly trying to filter out toxins, that uses energy and leaves you feeling depleted! Years ago I switched to all natural/ organic diet, cleaning products and skin care products. I also regularly take binding agents like activated coconut charcoal. This has made a massive difference in my energy, skin, gut and hormone health.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
ADAPTOGENS⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣
if my stress levels get out of hand, I turn to adaptogenic herbs as they enhance your body’s ability to cope with stress, anxiety and fight fatigue. Turmeric, ashwagandha, rhodiola and mucuna pruriens are some of my favourites.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣

  • This morning was the first time on my mat in over week because I hadn't been feeling too well. The first thing I did was light my sun rising energising candle because this is my favourite blend for a morning practice. Even if your practice is in the middle of your living room floor surrounded by whatever else is going on in your life, I think it's important to acknowledge and intentionally dedicate the time you are spending for yourself and for me the little ritual of lighting this candle signifies that. The second thing I did was grab some props, I wanted a slow and supported practice this morning with space to let me listen to what I needed.
Classes return as usual tomorrow night where we'll be working on listening to our bodies and exploring ranges of motion and what works best for ourselves.
Place. @scale_liverpool
Time. 6.30-7.30pm
Cost £8.00 book online or DM to save your space & mat and pay on the door.

  • @herspotsalon invited me to come over for a one hour full body massage and a nails treatment.

This salon is really one of the best I've ever been.. And no it's not because they invited me! It's because the massage was amazing, my nails were perfect and the girls were very sweet. So whenever you are looking for a nice salon to get spoiled, go here! It's based in Uluwatu.

Thank you so much for having me 🙏🏼
