Safe to say if you’re now working from home, your life just got tip turned upside down. With very little notice, you were forced to adjust and adapt to a new way of operating. Which is stressful enough, even without a global pandemic going on at the same time.⁣⁣⁣⁣

And if you’re a parent, now you’re managing multiple schedules and trying to homeschool your kids all while trying to stay productive.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
So whether you’re dealing with stress, anxiety, overwhelm, or even boredom, your might very well find yourself eating when you aren’t physically hungry to deal with the discomfort.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
But if hunger isn’t the problem, food isn’t the answer. It’s, at best, a temporary solution.⁣⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣⁣
That’s not to say you shouldn’t give yourself some grace if you do end up emotionally eating. It is bound to happen at some point with all that’s going on, and that’s ok. Acknowledge it and move on to making the next best choice.⁣⁣⁣⁣

1️⃣ Stick to a consistent meal structure. Your body thrives off consistency.  By feeding it at similar times, your body’s hunger cues will be more predictable.⁣⁣⁣⁣

2️⃣ Eat well balanced meals of protein, carbs, fiber, and healthy fats. This helps fill you up and keeps your blood sugar balanced so you can go long enough in between meals without needing to snack.⁣⁣⁣⁣

3️⃣ Prep some food ahead of time and pre plan your meals into your day so you aren’t at the mercy having to resort to snack like foods that won’t leave you satisfied.⁣⁣⁣⁣

4️⃣ Have a designated work space away from the kitchen. And eat meals sitting down at a table, away from your t.v., computer, or phone. Also avoid eating straight from containers.⁣⁣⁣⁣

  • 🔬Science Class 👩‍🏫 OMEGA-3's

One of Nature's power-boosters, which have loads of published papers to support their health claims. 
Today I am only looking at how Omega-3's can impact Metabolic Disease today, this topic is really relevant at the moment as many of the #Covid19 deaths are being linked to existing #metabolic conditions (High BP, Diabetes II, Obesity) amongst other factors such as age and smoking. 
Omega-3's have a huge positive impact on helping to improve 4 major factors (there are more!) of metabolic disease: - reduce inflammation (positive impact on overall health!)
- reduce trigylcerides
- reduce blood pressure
- improve insulin resistance

The benefits of this, combined with good nutrition and lifestyle changes can really make a positive change to metabolic health. 
Omega-3's: best from wild caught fish or krill sources though there are some vegetarian sources available. I do prefer the animal sourced options as they have higher absorption rates. Flax is also widely used - please ensure it doesn't go rancid as it's shelf life is short.

I like to take around 1-2g of omega 3 a day, though my needs may be higher due to my inflammatory genetic profile.

  • Você já ouviu falar em pão Carnívoro ? Se a resposta é não faça essa deliciosa receita.

Ingredientes 
1/2 kg de frango desfiado temperado 
3 ovos (eu usei 4) e não coloquei água
1 colher de fermento químico 
Água do próprio cozimento do frango 
Bater todos os ingredientes no liquidificador (se optar por usar a água coloque aos poucos) fica parecendo uma massa de bolo de cenoura.

Levar para assar em forno pré aquecido 180C ou 350F - por aproximadamente 40 minutos

➡️START SMALL➡️Know that any movement is good movement.➡️Commit to doing 10 minutes of an exercise OR even 1 set of this Full Body Circuit.➡️This will help you establish behaviors and create the habit you want to have in place, that you can actually stick to!

Today’s Workout is a Full body workout routine with only dumbbells for beginners. In this workout you are targeting your cardiovascular system, the endurance of your muscles as well as your coordination.
❗️This routine requires zero jumping and only equipment are dumbbells❗️Use your phone as a timer. ❗️You will be performing each exercise for 30 seconds and resting for 15 seconds between exercises. Perform two rounds as shown, or up to 4 rounds.

Metabolic syndrome continues to rise affecting 1 in 4 people in the U.S.  In order to prevent it we must know what it is and how to assess ourselves.  There is a big difference between what is considered “normal” and “healthy”. Also realize that just because a lab value falls within the reference range does not mean you are healthy or safe. ⁣

Metabolic syndrome is characterized as a cluster of risk factors rather than specific “symptoms” as one generally does not know they have it until it’s too late.  This syndrome places an individual at much higher risk of future cardiac and vascular events as well as multiple other health problems including Diabesity, depression, autoimmune disease, etc. ⁣
⁣
A diagnosis is made when 3 of the following 5 markers are met: ⁣
⁣
❗️Excess visceral fat or abdominal fat. > 35” waist in women & > 40” waist in men. This location is much more deadly as fat surrounds vital organs within the abdominal cavity.  Over-fat must be differentiated from simply over weight.  One can be “over weight” yet primarily composed of muscle.  Over-fat = > 32% body weight from fat in women > 25% body weight from fat in men.⁣

❗️Elevated fasting glucose/insulin. ⁣
The standard cut off for fasting glucose is 99 but optimal levels fall below 90. We are not built to have sustained elevated glucose/insulin levels. This especially becomes a problem if elevated after a fast.  This is why many diabetics suffer amputation, loss of vision, nerve damage, kidney/liver disease, among many other problems. ⁣

  • Metabolic syndrome continues to rise affecting 1 in 4 people in the U.S. In order to prevent it we must know what it is and how to assess ourselves. There is a big difference between what is considered “normal” and “healthy”. Also realize that just because a lab value falls within the reference range does not mean you are healthy or safe. ⁣

    Metabolic syndrome is characterized as a cluster of risk factors rather than specific “symptoms” as one generally does not know they have it until it’s too late. This syndrome places an individual at much higher risk of future cardiac and vascular events as well as multiple other health problems including Diabesity, depression, autoimmune disease, etc. ⁣

    A diagnosis is made when 3 of the following 5 markers are met: ⁣

    ❗️Excess visceral fat or abdominal fat. > 35” waist in women & > 40” waist in men. This location is much more deadly as fat surrounds vital organs within the abdominal cavity. Over-fat must be differentiated from simply over weight. One can be “over weight” yet primarily composed of muscle. Over-fat = > 32% body weight from fat in women > 25% body weight from fat in men.⁣

    ❗️Elevated fasting glucose/insulin. ⁣
    The standard cut off for fasting glucose is 99 but optimal levels fall below 90. We are not built to have sustained elevated glucose/insulin levels. This especially becomes a problem if elevated after a fast. This is why many diabetics suffer amputation, loss of vision, nerve damage, kidney/liver disease, among many other problems. ⁣

I mention metabolic finishers frequently here on the 'gram. Here are some examples you use in your own workouts. What is a metabolic finisher? Explained below⁣

Trying to build muscle and burn fat efficiently can be a tough endeavor. While creating a caloric deficit through diet should be your first priority, using metabolic finishers can be a great addition to your arsenal to get the job done quickly.⁣
⁣
A metabolic finisher is a short combination of strength and conditioning exercises with little to no rest between them meant to add volume to your training session while simultaneously improving conditioning and increasing calories burned.⁣
⁣
You will typically need no longer than 10-12 minutes to reap the benefits of a finisher - sometimes shorter!⁣
⁣
You should do a finisher at the end of your strength workout. I recommend keeping your total training time to under 1 hour, so strive to finish your strength training in about 45 minutes.⁣
⁣
The best aspect of a finisher is you can customize it to your goals, and mix it up with any combination you choose. The only limits are your imagination.⁣
⁣
