  • (Voiced with thick Brooklyn accents.) “No, no, listen. Charlie. I’m not getting back in that thing unless the door closes right, see? It’s a long way down from the satellite over here.” “.... What’s that there, Buzz? You don’t like the satellite? Hey Guys! This clown has a problem with our nice satellites all of a sudden. Like that flight suit makes you special while the rest of us do the real woik.” “Fughettaboutit, sheesh ...” #pulpscifi #flightcrew #brooklyn #spacecapsule #satellite #technicians #astronaut #satire #spaceart #narrativeart #marxtoys #vintagespace #plasticscrew #nasa #fughettaboutit Third in the “Charlie” series about misfit astronauts from Brooklyn led by a character named Charlie (or “Chawley) influened by my love of pulp science fiction artworks from 1925 - 1965.

  • Happy to finally own one of these Archie doll's by Marx from 1975. He's helping Josie and the gang with their photo shoot! I hope someone makes a 12" version of him one day in his classic style. #archiecomics #marxtoys #toycollecter #dollcollector

  • MACHINE, the 2nd of my ‘ready made’ works, this one bronze. I always had a affinity for this childhood riding toy, maybe because I never had one. Maybe it was the cost or possibly how dangerous it was, but what I knew was I was in envy of the kids who had one. I didn’t realize until I became an adult of what the toys symbolized for kids; freedom, the ability to go from point A, down to Jimmy or Jeff’s under your own power. I also didn’t until several years ago realize how sculptural it was. This lead to the task of finding one of these rare artifacts (1978), this took about 6 years and I was able to acquire one, unriden in the box from a museum in WV, I then made this piece bronze. This is the culmination of my own early childhood dreams being realized.

  • Growing up 45 minutes outside of Philly not only gave me access to the city, but also a relatively short drive to a town called Adamstown. Located just off 222 on the way to Lancaster, Adamstown marked the start of a 20 miles stretch of road littered with flea markets and antique malls. If you grew up on the East coast, north of the Mason Dixon you may have heard of it. People came from hundreds of miles each weekend with u-hauls to fill with furniture, art and collectibles. It’s where I spent most of my weekends with my friends on the hunt for our varied interests. While collecting Archie and MLJ comics was always my top priority, I never missed a chance to pick up anything and everything Archie related. Cars, lunch boxes, glasses, watches, pinback buttons, dolls, records, candy, beanies, thermoses, and more... I bought it all. The bulk of this paraphernalia is neatly packed in short boxes and stored with the rest of my collection and I don’t think I’ve cracked them open in 15 years. But then last month when I started posting to IG I got a chance to see what @archiecomicscollector has assembled and I was super impressed. So I’ve decided I’ll sprinkle it into the mix from here on out. And following your post today, Samantha, I’m starting with these. I was wrong... my jalopy is missing the blue piece on the back. Don’t think I knew that until today. Bummer. Now I’ll have to find one. That said, I do think you’ll see something you’ll like! #archiecomics #archiecomicscollection #marxtoys
