- Traveling with this crew and NEVER stressing about food/workouts is the best thing ever.
This is the first time I’ve traveled internationally and not once worried about how I would maintain my weight. This last year I learned how to actually LIVE, travel, eat out and lose weight at the same time. I really never thought it was possible.
It blows my mind how much more I can enjoy our travels now. I’m positive I’ll come home and be in my range by just following some simple rules I’ve learned.
I’ve gotten some messages about jumping in after Easter so Im thinking about opening up a few spots in my bootcamp. Want deets? Message me or comment below! I’ll teach you the simple things that helped me lose 26 lbs in 2.5 months and keep it off!

- Final countdown towards @londonmarathon ! It’ll be my 8th marathon. Flashback. Marathon 1 out of 7. My debut @leidenmarathon , May 2012.
It all started as a joke actually, a bet. After years of inactivity on the track, due to lack of motivation and increasing study-time (and beer-time 🍺) I thought it was time for a challenge. “Let’s run a marathon”, I said! “Let’s run it in sub 2h30”, I said. Some months later, as a bolt from the blue, my mom died. Just like that. She was the marathon runner of the family, PB of 3h09’ as a master. She knew I was going to make my debut, so I’d better give it my all. Train. Run. It was my way to mourn. In the hard K’s of the marathon I still think of her. My buddy Stein Van Es paced me till halfway in 1h11’07”, from there on it was just me against the strong winds in Leiden. I struggled, thinking I could never finish it. At 41k I was still thinking I would never finish. At 41,4k I suddenly saw an African runner in front of me, suffering even harder! I forced myself into something that I thought that looked like sprinting. YES! Finish in 2h25’32”, 2nd! My only podium on a marathon so far, by the way. It was sub 2h30, it was epic, it was emotional. It got me, and from that day on I became Dennis Laerte, the marathon runner.
