  • | I’m really using this time to go all in for my consultancy work @sundastudio // There’s whole lotta bad going on at the moment but there’s also a whole lotta good and bags of innovation. I’m diving in, to work with some of the companies who need support in adapting to what will probably be a very different economy when we manage to come out the other side. If you want to keep up with the work I’m doing, I’d love it if you could join me over there // @sundastudio // Apple-Leather Wallet made by the brilliant @olivercompanylondon and the ever wonderful @ethos_mag. Already read this edition multiple times but it does well as a daily reminder and decorative item on my coffee table 👌🏻

  • DAY 4 of #RenataKateChallenge is “DANCING”… when I started thinking about it, a quote came to my mind which I thought is very relevant to the current worldwide situation. 💫 “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning to dance in the rain.” .

As the big news are hitting us daily with the number of people affected by the pandemic, I reflect on the relevance of the quote to our situation during the challenging time we’re all experiencing.

The quote is about living our lives, not simply waiting around for a good time to start or everything return to normal. Too many people wait for the right moment before starting to live their life. . ➡️Take a moment to consider where in your life you might have paused and never gotten back to it immersed in the day-to-day pressures of working life. Is it perhaps your family, a passion or something important like health that you put on hold until you have more time (never). .

The quote starts by saying what life is not. It is not about waiting. It is not about avoiding the storm. And it is most definitely not about waiting for the storm to pass. What gets done while you wait? Nothing. So 10 years later, you find yourself in the exactly same situation you were before. How does that make you feel? Disappointed with yourself? .
➡️Take a moment to consider what, where, and how severe are your storms at this moment: in your personal life, family life, social life, at work, with your customers?

So the question is, what will you do about that? It’s easy to put everything on hold but nothing will change unless you do something. Are you going to learn to dance in the rain and enjoy the extra challenge? .

The quote concludes by saying that life is about learning to dance in the rain. It’s about learning to live with, and even enjoy the inevitable storms of life. .

We all will face storms in our lives and it is up to us to determine how we will respond to these disruptions. Will we hide inside, waiting for it to pass, or will we continue with our lives, enjoying even the roughest of weather? It is our choice. Which will you choose…waiting, or dancing in the rain? .

  • “IF YOUR DREAMS DON’T SCARE YOU, THEY ARE TOO SMALL.”⁣⁣
Quarantine has given us all a lot of time to think about where we are right now and where we want to go. It’s given me a lot of time to be grateful for all the amazing people I have close to me and thankful for all of the things that have fallen into place recently. ⁣
⁣
The next steps for me over the next few months or the next year are unknown right now.⁣ I have a lot of question marks and a lot of uncertainty during this time, but I’m trying my best to sit with that and be okay. Sometimes it’s okay to not have a clue what you’re doing or to be scared about where you’re going next. ⁣⁣
⁣
Reflecting on yourself and where you’re at in your life can be uncomfortable, confusing and stressful but definitely a healthy process in the end ❤️

  • KUDOS TO ALL OF YOU PARENTS HOMESCHOOLING OR ENTERTAINING YOUR LITTLE ONES
How did you find the last 2 weeks running your life homebound? Have you ever dreamed of homeschooling your children?
It is quite a challenge and a commitment, don’t you think. A lot of us are getting the taste of it now. As a fellow homeschooling parent, my heart goes out to all of you who continue to faithfully teach their children and perhaps even work at the same time from home. You are not alone in your efforts. I, along with thousands of other parents around the world cheer you on each day.
At times, homeschooling can be tiring and seem like a thankless job as you face hurdles of opposition, and realise it’s not easy teaching your own kids. But those of us who are doing it despite anything know what we’re doing is important, temporary and we’ll get through it just fine.

TAG or SHARE this with other parents who are doing a great job with their kids at home

  • I think at the beginning of your business you can get a bit too bogged down with what things looks like, rather than understanding how you’re wanting to make people feel. Of course how things look is so important, and having things feel & look ‘together’...but I don’t think the energy you put into choosing a font should be higher than the energy you invest in understanding how you want your work to make people feel. Branding isn’t just your logo. ⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
Kayte Ferris ( @simpleandseason ) really helped me understand more about getting below the surface of my branding when I did one of her courses a little while ago; I spent some time whittling down the recurring themes within my work, and found the words I kept coming back to were: gentle, honest and connection. Appreciating that I’m drawn to certain ways of shooting and working has helped me feel more confident about what my work stands for. ⁣⁣⁣

At the beginning of my business, when I’d done zero work on any of that stuff and didn’t have much experience to reflect upon, I asked @pcillustration to create me a logo. I knew I wanted nature to be a theme, so he created me a delicate wreath which I’ve used ever since. I love the fact that even though I hadn’t made sense of my business fully at that point, the logo Pete created feels relevant to the themes I’ve come back to and feels like it ties everything together. ⁣⁣
