  • another example of nature forming in relation to my creative input and perspective... I wish I’d gotten the contact info for this mother and daughter (I’m guessing) when we spoke. Maybe if they see this they can contact me. but I also love the anonymity of the human presence. . .

Also I’ve come up with a kind of binary formula to describe an arrangement’s connection points, each of which is a meeting of two surfaces which combine to share 3 vertices of contact. Each surface can be described by a 0 (concave), or 1 (convex). And always starting from the top point down. This one with 3 balance points (9 contact vertices Total), would be 01-01-10. Meaning the bottom edge of the top rock is a very tiny concave notch (0), adjusted over the rounded convex surface (1), of the middle round rock. Then the bottom of the round one has a concave notch (0), resting over a convex surface (1), of the one below. And the bottom point is a convex surface resting in a concave notch of the rooted base. It’s possible to have a 00 connection, but not a 11 connection within the ‘tripod’ framework of static balance.

The leaf was a result of waking up that morning to my first real sense of Fall, as a rainstorm cleared throughout the morning hours.. .
