  • I set out to run sub 3:05 (7:03 pace) to get my first BQ yesterday, but it just wasn’t meant to be yesterday.  My strategy was to start out a little slower at a 7:10-7:15 pace for the first 2-3 miles and then settle into a 6:55-7:00 pace.  I wanted to hit the half marathon at around 1:32/1:33 and do a very slight negative split in the second half. .
.
Mentally, I break marathons into three sections, 10/10/10.  The first 10 miles, second 10 miles, and then the last 10k. Find your rhythm in the first 10, hold the next 10 steady, and then fight with everything you’ve got left in the tank for the final 10k to hit your goal.
.
.
I was comfortable and going strong through mile 21, averaging about a 6:55 pace up which just under where I wanted to be. I was on track for a sub 3:05. Then, it seemed the wheels started to fall off. I started doing the math and there just wasn’t enough time left to BQ, but I knew I still had a shot at a PR, so I gave it all I had left. I was mentally drained and wanted to slow down or walk so bad, especially when I saw others walking. It looked less painful. But I told myself that wasn’t an option today. And when I was done, I was happy I pushed through, because that why we’re all out here; for the fight! -Stephen

  • Running Tip #1 - Just Get Started.💯
.
.
Opening a New Pair of Shoes Reminded me of when I First Started Running. .
.
My sister is actually the person who got me started. She made me run a Half marathon with her 😂😭 13.1 long miles 🤪
.
.
I knew nothing about running long distance. I ran track in middle school. But nothing more. .
.
I knew nothing at all about running shoes but now I learned that every shoe fits a certain foot differently.
.
.
Some might need more or less support depending on your foot type and how you land while running. 👣 .
.
I started running in Asics but after years of running I fell in love with the @Nike Running Line. They fit my running style perfectly. No aches or pain. Just a perfect fit to MY Running Form.
.
.
And I constantly get asked by beginner runners how to get started in running.🤓
.
.
My answer is, Do you want to run a race and challenge yourself🤕? or Just get healthier? 🤒 😁
.
.
And My answer to either is, Just go for a simple walk first and see how your shoes and body feel afterwards. Shoes are one of the most important step. 👟👍
.
.
Do that for a for weeks and let me know how your shoes feel.
.
.
Also see if you can stay consistent on just going outside or to the gym for a walk/run workout. 2-4 times a week.😓 That itself is a weekly challenge. 🗓️. Trust me but just make time for yourself.
.
.
So to anyone who is struggling. Just know it all starts with taking that one step forward to becoming a better runner and a healthier person overall.💪 #Justdoit .
.
And a Great Place to Check out New Shoes is at Your Nearest @finishline retail store or link in my bio. .
.
Keep up the Great work and Don't Let Set backs, Set You Back.💯 #moveforward #mondaymotivation #Finishline

  • Afternoon 5 miler with the Murph. We did not see any evidence of the bear that’s around (thank goodness).

  • 3 miles on my last day of maternity leave 😩 I love working and don’t think I’d ever give it up but I do wish mamas got a year off to be with their baby, at least! They’re still so little at 12 weeks that it just feels so unnatural to leave them which only makes it harder. I soaked up every second I could this time knowing it’s likely my last, not that I didn’t with the boys but I worked part time from home by last 6 weeks with them so it was a little different 🤷🏻‍♀️ crossing my fingers I don’t cry too much tomorrow 🤞🏻 #workingmom #postpartumrunning #justrun #halfmarathontraining

  • Hanging on by a thread. It seems a little relentless in the gym right now. All means to an end though 👊
.

So when it’s a double workout day, including an hour elliptical doing a ‘session’ this morning (followed by strength 💪) followed by spin class this evening, damn right I’m rewarding myself with two doughnuts. 🍩 .

Carrot. Donkey. That is all 😂

  • ✨Everything you want is on the other side of fear ✨as my wise little sis @alicebw_ tells me often and it’s so true!
Having had to pull out of a number of races this year (mainly due to the fear of failure and not being able to finish them) I’m so glad that I ran the @run_north_west Quarry Bank trail race 10 days ago! It was a huge reminder to me that times don’t matter but doing what you love and just keeping fit without any pressure really does matter! Mindset matters and after this race, I felt so much more positive about running again! This week, with the help of my Ironman @brookes07 I’ve managed 6 training sessions- including venturing into the weights section of the gym (something that massively intimidates me) and 35 miles! Feel through the weaker days and enjoy the stronger ones 🙌🏻!

  • The Day after Tomorrow... ⛈🙈
Weit gekommen bin ich heute nicht, da auf dem Weg einige lange Hindernisse lagen. Da bin ich lieber direkt umgekehrt 😊
Schon beeindruckend was die Natur in nur paar Minuten leisten kann... 😮
Wer hatte heute mehr Glück? 😀
