  • Found my self back at the Tishifang tea house for lunch again. This time I tried the dumpling soup. Such a wonderful spot. They sit solo diners together. I ended up having a lovely lunch with this elderly woman and we talked about veganism and our work.. you meet some amazing people when you go a bit outside your comfort zone!

  • Vegan sushi?? Don’t mind if it do! Had this lovely “salmon” roll at Ying vegetarian.. you can find them on happy cow., there wasn’t much flavor but the texture was there.. it was really just for the aesthetic to look like fish sushi.. although I prefer full veggie sushi for flavor this was fun to get!

  • Chinese Culture is interwined with food to celebrate a variety of festivals. This is particularly true for the Lunar New Year where a play on words is used to give symbolic meaning to the dishes enjoyed.

For example, glutinous mochi rice balls "Tong Yeun" means togetherness and the number 3 means life. 
When cooking Chinese dessert soups, brown cane sugar in slab form is often used. This gives a warming sweetness with a depth unmatched by granulated sugar. 
We will be serving Tong Yeun in sweet ginger soup at our next pop up.

  • In a land filled with noodles and carbs, my body needed some green action.. stopped by this lovely cafe in Central called Mana!For some fast slow food! The cafe was super cute with vegan quotes all around. They do have some cheese in the menu so just look out for that. I had the signature burger which was made with mushrooms, tempeh, beets and more.. the kale side was the real winner (in the back with the chickpeas) the dressing was divine. Def worth checking out for a light lunch!

  • #YellowShop 💛Ditch the giant coffee chain and support local! This cozy little cafe @coffeequestion is a hidden gem in town, located around the Lai Chi Kok/ Cheung Sha Wan area, only a few seats are offered and they mainly serve light meals and freshly brewed coffee👍🏻

We have tried this oat latte which is a great option to wake you up in the morning or cheer up your afternoon time. We could never imagine such a small place could offer that range of different types of such good quality coffee. They have a few vegetarian options, we haven’t had chance to try the food yet, but we are guessing they could easily veganize some courses for you 🌿

One thing to remember is make sure you ask for a dine-in cup as they might serve in a take-away paper cup if you didn’t specify when you place the order ☕️☕️☕️

  • While exploring Lamma island we found BookWorm cafe in the northern village of Yung Shue Wan. First off this village is so cute..filled with lots of small bars and shops. @bookwormcafe  is a veggie cafe with a very small menu. Most everything was vegan except the cheese on the pizza. I tried the Veggie Calamari since I’ve never had a vegan version before. It was made from konjac.. the texture and consistency was there but the flavor was a little bland.. could use some dashi! But otherwise it was a lovely little snack 🙂oh and the iced coffee was amazzzzing 😍

  • Hiked Lamma island this past weekend which I recommend to anyone visiting Hong Kong! About half way through there was an elderly  man selling frozen pineapple on a stick. Had to get one! It was the perfect refreshment for a hot day.

  • Had a lovely dinner of Ma Po Tofu last night at @sohofama .. such a cute spot with a separate veggie menu. This was perfect to set me off for a night out in Hong Kong!

  • Had the loveliest farewell do today on the rural outskirts of Hong Kong with a fully #vegan menu, served by the loveliest people. Just look at these jelly with edible flowers! All the ingredients are locally produced and sourced from villages nearby. Even the gorgeous wood platter is reclaimed wood 😍

  • Visited some lace mills in mainland China today (I work in the fashion industry) and they prepared a wonderful vegan lunch for us. It was a lot of food! My favorite was the first photo of rice noodles with mushrooms and fried garlic 🤤it’s super awesome that the whole meal was plant based rather than just one dish which meant everyone ate happily vegan with no complaints 🙂

  • It's no secret that we've been big fans of @omnipork for a long time and famously persuaded Angie's dad to bring some back from a recent trip to Hong Kong just so that we can try it! Well you won't need to go to that extreme measure as we have the honour to be supporting them with their UK launch 🐽

We are thrilled to reveal the first @omnipork @greenmonday.uk collab dish 💥Showcasing the PK Omnipork Gua Bao 💥

Gua bao originated from Taiwan and a must visit for street food enthusiasts. You will find famous street food markets within close proximity to temples where street food vendors awaits the hungry worshippers ❤️ We are serving a panko crumbed Omnipork patty ( vegan "pork"), with siracha mayo slaw, pickled red onion, tonkatsu sauce and all sandwiched in a fluffy steamed Gua Bao 😆

This is a UK exclusive and only available at @vegannightsldn . We can't wait for you to try it and remember we are also running a competition for you plus a friend to win free entry plus a meal on us. Please see the previous post for details 🤞

  • Three more sleeps!!!! We grew up eating congee and it is our favourite pick me up food.  This is our ultimate comfort food.

A famous Congee house in Hong Kong uses copper pots to heat up congee (this is expensive as pots are renewed every six months due to the soft nature of the metal). Copper pots are used because it conducts heat very quickly and evenly, so that the silky smooth texture of the congee is maintained. Yum!

We will be serving congee with fried dough and coriander oil, topped with peanuts and preserved vegetables.
