We absolutely adore this Noah’s Ark set from @demdaco! Since we received it, we always have one squeaker with us at all times. Harper flashes us her big ole smile when we squeak them and play with her. And now that she’s officially teething, she really loves to chew on the ark 🙈😂
.
New blog post is up and it’s all about this set and the significance that this story (piece of history!!) holds for us. Go give it a read and then do yourself a favor and shop around on the @demdaco website because they have just about a million wonderful things, all with the intention of “lifting the spirit.” If you would, please shop via the links in my blog post so they know I sent you! 🙏🏻😍 Thanks so much for the support, y’all!

  • How could I ever be enough?
The women who’ve gone before have known so much, while here I am without any clue.
Then I’m quieted as I come fully present.
You, still and contented.
I’m humbled because I’m all you wanted.
And I now see, I am more than enough for you.

Two truths and a lie
1. I lived in Germany once for a total of 3 years
2. My name was originally spelled Mónica but the social security administration kept rejecting my application.
3. My first job at 16 was in a lingerie shop and I had to do bra fittings for women 60+

  • It’s been quite a while since I’ve actually sat down and created anything. I’ve let my routine take over and I can’t remember the last time I ever truly took time to myself. My husband caught me cleaning while the kids were resting and told me I needed to stop. To rest. But how? How could I stop when that’s literally what I’ve become. A never ending cleaning lady. And I realized how sad I was. I’ve pushed myself to the back. So while the kids swam last night, I sat down and created. And it felt so good. It’s amazing what a little “me” time can do for the soul. .
.
When was the last time you had “me” time. Remember that even though your family needs you, you need yourself too. ❤️

  • At The Family Room, we support new parents every day and we also try to support other organizations doing the work, too. I naturally was familiar with the March of Dimes, but have to be honest, I didn't know the extent of their programs until I met with their local development manager Amanda several months ago. Amanda came to The Family Room for Mommy & Me and reached out to me before the summer to talk about their work. We got coffee and I learned so much about how they support the health of ALL moms and babies. It is not uncommon for me to get an email asking to cancel someone’s prenatal classes because the baby came early. Sometimes, way too early. We also hear from Moms who have shared their NICU stories in just about all of our groups. In honor of Prematurity Awareness Month in November the March of Dimes is partnering with 20 local hospitals to provide NICU baby showers, which is such a great way to support parents of preemies. As soon as Amanda told me this, I was like, sign me up. There are lots of volunteer opportunities, from monetary donations to make it all possible, to wrapping gifts (they have 500 to wrap!) and helping to staff the events. I will be doing all 3 and will be at Huntington Hospital on Nov. 6 to help however I can to bring some joy and celebrate the families. For me, this is also about supporting Amanda -- a friend and mom in our community who has made a career of trying to help families. And I am always on board with supporting that. Let’s represent, Family Room friends, and show these NICU families what community means in our area. Sign up to help out in whatever way you can. Link in bio or message for me for information. Hugs, Karen

  • I always thought it was so cute when little kids would stand up holding their parents leg. They’re just so sweet and protected there. Then I looked down one day and Cece was doing it. It just shook me and reminded me to freaking pay attention. There’s nothing more important that what is right in front of you, or what is tugging at your pants. Because those things you’ve been looking forward to seeing your kid doing is happening NOW.

  • I hit a wall last night. Honest confession post. Since going back to work full time trying to juggle two jobs and owning a business plus motherhood and trying to have a social life, I realized that the one thing I was giving zero energy to was taking care of myself. Making sure the kids had wholesome breakfasts but forgetting to ever give myself a plate. Working on the business until the moment I had to go into work at my other job, leaving me to grab a cliff bar and an apple because I was still trying to eat healthy but that’s all I had time for. Last night I got very hypoglycemic and I almost fainted, was extremely dizzy and confused and after drinking some sprite I had a heart to heart with myself that somethings gotta give. There’s so much pressure these days on every front. To post daily with engaging content, have rotating inventory to stay fresh, go to three different grocery stores to eat healthy on a budget, give the animals and children (and partners) quality time even when you’re so exhausted you just want to sleep. So I guess I’m here to say I napped for three hours today, ate two breakfasts, I’m currently in an Epsom salt bath and that’s it. That’s all I did. No laundry, no errands, no photo shoots, no appointments, and it feels damn good. And I felt the need to post this in case any of you scrolling through here need someone to say, REST. It’s ok. Everything can wait. You can’t take on the world if you aren’t taking care of yourself. Also I’m very excited to be trying out the Young Living starter kit I got from @sunshineandsandlewood she is the most knowledgeable kind person and as soon as I told her my ailments she immediately told me what to use and where to put it. Take care folks💫

What was a day for research turned into us potentially selling our DVC property to buy an RV 🤦. Any other families out there who use campers on their vacations? Do you love it? Is it too much work? Do you prefer campers vs hotel rooms?

Would you believe that I got to sleep last night and only had to get up once to use the RR! Yeah I couldn’t believe it either. It was so nice! But wait, I was able to get my hair done and sleep a full 8 hours? Is this the calm before the storm? Honestly I don’t even care because my hair is done and I’m well rested. Happy Friday!!

  • It’s #aldihaul time! .
.
I remember my first time going into @aldiusa and I couldn’t believe how adorable everything was! I feel like I bought everything in the store that day! 😂 .
.
Fast forward to today and I am learning how to choose healthier options for my family. Not necessarily to be physically “fit,” but rather that we are fueling our bodies for energy, better gut health and just overall wellness. .
.
I love that @aldiusa has so many affordable foods that helps our family be healthier. Do you see any of your favorites from my #aldifinds this morning or what is one of your favorites?

We first tried to get pregnant three days after our wedding, talk about stressed out! On October 23, we had two vials, some other BM (baby making) essentials and our two @mosiebaby syringes. After days of ovulation tracking I was PUPO (pregnant until proven otherwise) after two, 12 hour spaced, at-home inseminations. Two weeks later, we got the dreaded and heartbreaking negative. That was hard on us, harder than we could have ever imagined. Because of that, we decided we would try one more round and then take a break. November 22, Thanksgiving, came and I tested positive for ovulation!!! Only thing is, our two vials weren’t scheduled to arrive until the next day. We were pessimistic, doubtful and sure we missed our window. We tried anyways, with all the same products around 2 PM and then around 10 PM. On December 5th, only 12 days later (3 and half weeks gestation) we got our BFP! On August 9, 2019 at 04:15 AM, weighing 6 pounds and 11 ounces and only 39 weeks our Cruz decided to bless us with his birth. Thank you so much, Mosie Baby. We wouldn’t be mommies without you!

  • I have cried and struggled with this choice. But our breastfeeding journey has come to a close. He will not latch and my milk supply has been dropping. Working, grad schooling, spending time with him, pumping, and running a house has been a juggling act that I just can't keep up with anymore. I'm so glad my body was able to do this for him for 5 months, but sadly my mental health has plummeted over it. I find myself constantly anxious about my supply and making sure I pump on time or figuring out when I will pump next. I just don't enjoy myself at all because I'm always so worried about if he has enough to eat, and lately I don't make enough. Luckily, our boy loves formula and it has helped him with his sleep training. I'm so heartbroken that this chapter is over, but fed is best and atleast we can both be happy. 🖤🍼💙 .

  • The littlest ball of sunshine. She slept for 12 hours straight last night, then went back to sleep for another hour and a half. 😳😱 that has not happened in a long time. She’s usually waking up 2-3 times every night. River wakes throughout the night because she’s having night terrors, and they are so so hard. 😭 So basically I have been a walking zombie. OH and we have had mold under our bathroom floors for like 5 months now, most likely longer, and we “should” be getting that taken care of next week. Gotta love military housing. 🙄🙃

  • If you are silent about your beliefs because you are worried someone will be offended, then your beliefs are not that important to you but rather what people think about you is. What people see about you will speak more loudly than how people feel about you, because in the end, when we stand up for what is right and true, we will have many who hate us or love us but all will know what we are fighting for. - T.B. • It's been a couple years since I've introduced our family here! I'm Kortni living a small town life with my husband and boys in Utah 👋 Some facts you may not know about us: ▪️My husband Nick plays guitar and sings in a band. When I met him he was playing punk rock in cut off shorts and flip-flops in the middle of winter. He had me at hello. ▪️I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and my husband is agnostic. Which has made us experts at meeting in the middle. (And sadly I'll lose so many of you tonight for this reason alone.) ▪️I've wanted to adopt since I was 16 years old. ▪️I didn't see either of my children come into this world. And I wouldn't change it. I would every time, want the first person to love them to keep those three sacred days of their lives to herself, after what she gave me for the rest of mine. ▪️I've never won the lottery, but I imagine it feels a little like being handed your three day old baby for the first time and hearing the words "congratulations, you are a mother." They are my wildest dreams come true and I am grateful every day that God pried my fingers off the life I was holding on to so hard and placed this one in my hands instead. ▪️If you are wondering if we will adopt again, I'm right there with you. I had back surgery earlier this year and I can't lift much of anything, let alone a child. but once/if I fully recover I'm all in. As for my husband, well once adoption ceases to do a number on your heart and wallet he will be all in. Odds are not looking good, but foster care is something we have talked about. 🙏 ▪️Also you should know that I bribe my boys to hold my hand in public.

It means the world to me that you are here! Whether it's for adoption, the run-on sentences or our messiest moments; thank you for joining me in this little corner of the internet.

Tell me something about YOU or ask me anything below.

  • They said it couldn’t be done. They said you’ll hate it. They said it’s too much work.
.
I’m here to say anything is possible. I did it. I loved it. And even though I feel like I ran three marathons consecutively, it was sooooo worth it. Every minute. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. ♥️♥️♥️

  • I know I should probably pack away that changing pad & those pacifiers displayed in that pretty little jar, but I just don’t want to admit that my littlest baby is growing out of the term “baby” 🥺 I don’t know for certain what the future holds for us in terms of having another sweet babe or not, but either way packing away tiny baby things hurts a mama’s heart. I think I will hold on to those last little remnants of tiny baby hood scattered about his room for a tad longer ⚘ ⠀
⠀
found that sweet happy bear storage bag & peg hooks on @babyshop & right now they are giving my followers 15% off using code Alyssa15, but it only lasts for 48hrs so runrunrun! ✱ ✱ ✱
