  • 🥑💍 AVOCA-I-DO!! Avocado proposals are all the rage these days... been seeing them pop up everywhere! And while it’s a super cute idea... if you’re gonna do this make sure you DO eat the avocado after so all that healthy fat and yummy goodness isn’t wasted!

Here are a few more avoca-do’s and don’ts... I’ve opened a few avocados with dark spots. I actually met an avocado farmer at the California state fair who said unless it’s rancid, they’re just fine to eat, just cut out the dark spots! So for all you avo lovers, may there be no avocado left behind! 🥑❤️

  • 🥬🥦🥔🍗 Today I want to talk a little bit about CALORIE DEFICITS and fat/weight loss and what's actually healthy.
_ 
I think most of us know by now that if you want to achieve weight loss, you have to be in a calorie deficit, i.e. eating less than the amount of energy you burn per day. This is absolutely true. But no matter what your goals are, the QUALITY of the foods that you eat matter immensely. 
_ 
And if your goal is fat loss, achieving your goal in a healthy, sustainable way matters too.
_ 
Going on extreme restrictive diets that limit calories rarely work. Why? Because of the way restriction makes you feel. You might feel hangry and thinking about food 24/7, tired, and depressed. 
_ 
I truly feel that no matter your starting point, a steady and conservative approach to fat loss is better than trying to lose too much very quickly, only to create unhealthy habits, such as skipping meals or not getting a well-rounded balance of macronutrients — carbs, fat, and protein.
_ 
Making sure that you're eating healthy, balanced nutrition is key, even if you're trying for a calorie deficit. For example, one of my clients started her deficit on 200 calories less per day (1800 instead of 2000), the equivalent of 1 bag of potato chips. We started by tracking her nutritional intake to the point where she learned so much about food and portions that she now eats more intuitively without having to track anymore. She checked in with me a few weeks ago and lost 20 lbs while eating delicious, nutritious foods that make her body feel good!

I'm a strong believer in eating better, not necessarily less and often swapping more nutritious foods for less nutritious ones will keep you fulller longer, and feeling great!

🍒Overnight Banana-Berry Oatmeal

INGREDIENTS
½ cup rolled oats
½ cup blueberries
1 banana
1 container Vanilla Greek Yogurt
½ tablespoon honey

PREPARATION
1. In a blender, combine Chobani® Vanilla Greek Yogurt, banana, blueberries, honey, and vanilla extract. Blend until creamy. 
2. In a 16-ounce canning jar, place oats, top with smoothie, and stir.
3. Refrigerate 8 hours (overnight). 4. Serve with additional blueberries and banana slices.
5. Enjoy!

🥛Banana-Berry Chia Smoothie

INGREDIENTS
1 frozen banana
½ cup frozen strawberries
1 container Chobani® Vanilla Greek Yogurt
½ tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon black chia seeds

PREPARATION
1. In a blender, combine banana, strawberry, Chobani Vanilla Greek Yogurt, and honey. Add chia and pulse quickly to combine. 
2. Enjoy!

🥣Banana-Berry Bowl

INGREDIENTS
1 frozen banana
½ cup frozen blackberries
1 container Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1 tablespoon honey
2 tablespoon pepita (pumpkin seeds), divided
2 tablespoons grated coconut, divided 
Additional fresh banana and berries for garnish

PREPARATION
1. In a blender combine Vanilla Greek Yogurt, bananas, blackberries, honey, 1 tablespoon of pumpkin seeds, and 1 tablespoon of coconut. 
2. Pour into a bowl and top with additional pumpkin seeds, coconut, blackberries, and banana.
3. Enjoy!

🍭Banana-Berry Pops

INGREDIENTS
1 banana
½ cup fresh strawberries
1 container Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1 tablespoon honey
8 tablespoons granola

PREPARATION
1. In a blender, combine banana, strawberry, Greek Yogurt, and honey. 
2. Pour into pop molds (leaving gap) and top with 2 tablespoons in each pop. 
3. Freeze at least 8 hours. Enjoy!
