Pure Butter tauuuu bukan Buttercup yer mak!

  • Did you know babies laugh 300 times a day but adults laugh only 20 times?! So maybe we should take a leaf out of our little one’s book and do something small everyday that puts a smile on our face - it might be making silly faces in your porridge like we have, whatever it is just smile! What is the one thing you will actively do this week to put a smile on your face?

Probiotics are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for you, especially your digestive system.⁣
⁣
Your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad. Probiotics are often called "good" or "helpful" bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy.⁣
⁣
You can find probiotics in supplements but I prefer those in food as they are natural.⁣
⁣
How Do They Work?⁣
When you lose "good" bacteria in your body, for example after you take antibiotics, probiotics can help replace them.⁣
⁣
They can help balance your "good" and "bad" bacteria to keep your body working the way it should.⁣
⁣
The most common groups include Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. Each group comprises different species, and each species has many strains.⁣
⁣
It is important to get varying sources of Probiotics to benefit from the different species.⁣
⁣
Probiotics are usually gotten from Fermented foods. The following are Common Nigerian foods that are Probiotics:⁣
⁣
🥜Fermented Cassava products e.g Garri, Fufu, Abacha, Akpu.⁣
⁣
🌽Fermented maize products e.g Ogi(PAP) Agidi ⁣
⁣
🥣Fermented millet products e.g Ogi‐baba, Kunnu⁣
⁣
⁣
🥗Ugba/Ukpaka (African Oil Bean)⁣
⁣
🥛Locally fermented milk : Nono (usually eaten as Fura Da Nono)⁣
⁣
🍻Local drinks like: Pito (beer made from fermented millet or sorghum), Palm wine (from Palm sap), Burukutu (from fermented grains). ⁣
🔞⚠️(Please Drink responsibly, don't say it is Dr.T that said you should be drinking because of Probiotics oh. Local girl's hand is not there).⁣
⁣
⁣
Atink I haff try for you people gan oh. 👏👏 For me.😁⁣ Follow @careafrik for more healthy lifestyle advise.

Which one of these is indigenous to your part of the country? 😁⁣

-
#1 Mempunyai berat badan 2 kali ganda dari waktu dilahirkan.
-
#2 Time kita makan, baby akan tengok dengan khusyuknya makanan yg terhidang kat atas meja.
-

  • She looks a little unsure in this photo but Evie started solid foods tonight! She did so well and loved her pureed apples 😊 so grateful for our backyard fruit trees. Organic, backyard grown apples, steamed and blended to a puree. We used a "maroon spoon" after many recommendations from other parents whose children also have DS.

  • STEEL CUT OATMEAL cereal..
.
.
I posted earlier that steel cut oats is the best for your baby because it is the least processed and thus it’s preservatives level is minimal..
.
.
But it’ take a little time to prepare,so here is the fast way of achieving that oatmeal cereal for your babies who is ready for solids.
.
.
From 6months and can be baby’s first food.
.
.

Oats are packed with minerals that are essential for the development of your baby like calcium, iron, zinc, phosphorous, potassium, sodium and magnesium. Calcium and phosphorous aid in bone building, iron increases the quantity of haemoglobin in the body and potassium and sodium are known to aid in neurological functions in the body. Magnesium helps generate energy and improves dental and bone health in infants.
.
.
Oats is full of fiber and easily digestible.
.
.
Remember your baby needs all the nutrients they can get from real foods.
.
.
Let’s raise healthy kids together.

  • 🍝 LIST OF EASY-TO-PREPARE RECIPES FOR FUSSY EATERS 🥞
.
.
I’m sure we’ve all seen meal-time dramas, irrational tantrums over food and we’ve all had those days when our child won’t open his mouth to eat unless the TV is turned on 😐
.
I’ve written a series on posts on how to deal with picky eaters (which I’m planning to compile and write a blog post on), but today I thought of sharing some interesting ideas which have worked for us, especially during her teething and growth spurt phase.
.
Save this post so that the next time your child won’t open his mouth to eat, you can come and check this post, see the ingredients you have and quickly whip up something healthy.
.
.
🍍Pumpkin-tomato-beetroot soup
🍍Millet vegetable noodles (add tomato purée to make it tangy)
🍍Mix dal khichdi ( add Palak or beetroot purée to make it healthier)
🍍Caramelised banana (use ghee and jaggery)
🍍Peanut butter and chapati roll (you can slice it up like Swiss rolls)
🍍Oats idli (with vegetables)
🍍Fruit sheera (Chickoo sheera has been a hit at our place)
🍍Curd with chopped fruits and chia seeds
🍍Curd with honey topped with homemade granola
🍍Instant rava appe with sambar
🍍Chicken noodle soup
🍍Beans quesadillas/chicken quesadillas (made using homemade roti instead of tortillas). Alternatively, you can place your sabzi, add some cheese or grated paneer, fold and toast till crispy.
🍍Banana-cashew butter- flax seeds smoothie
🍍Sol kadhi made using coconut milk with khichdi
🍍Cauliflower-potato mash made using cheese (great for those days when they’re super fussy)
🍍Daliya haleem: Pressure cook broken wheat with soaked lentils, veggies and chicken (or paneer for vegetarians), add tadka and spices based on your child’s preferences, top with mint leaves and lemon.
.
.
⭐️Most of these recipes are ready within 20 mins, so please ditch that packet of cerelac and opt for fresh homemade food for your child.
.
Please tag your mommy friends so that they benefit from this too.
.
Have a great day! ❤️

  • View and subscribe to my YouTube (link in my Instagram bio) on how to make this and other baby food recipes and check out my blog as well! We are getting into Fall Season now, my favorite! So what better puree to make than apple puree? Apples are such a delicious first solid food to feed to your little one because they’re sweet and so versatile with a lot of other fruits and veggies and even meats! Fall season is the perfect season to pick up apples at your local food market because of how inexpensive and plentiful they are. Look for firm apples that don’t have blemishes, holes, or bruises. Apples that give when you poke them will be unappetizing and mushy. You want juicy, crisp, flavorful apples that are sweet in flavor. Try to choose Gala, Fuji, or other sweet apples. Stay clear of sour/tart varieties of apples such as Granny Smith. Follow my easy step-by-step instructions on my blog (herbnsage.org) and youtube (link in my Instagram bio) to learn how to make your baby the healthiest and tastiest way to make apple puree!
