  • This workout doesn't have very many isolation movements if you're looking to get in and out of the gym quickly. However, I don't recommend doing that often though to prevent muscle imbalances. .

  • This is my fancy way of making known there’s TOTALLY a difference between true health and the appearance of health.
⠀⠀
Don’t get me wrong.... I love some good abs. If it was as simple as going to the store to pick out what kind of abs you want I seriously doubt any of us would choose “dad bod” or “beer belly.” Am I right?!
⠀⠀
We all want to look great.
⠀⠀
But I see a whole lotta people out there, incredibly fit but living on prescription meds with internal issues that could potentially be completely resolved or at least improved if health was the priority.
⠀⠀
We live in a visual world. What people see is usually the highest ranking thing we take care of.
⠀⠀
Think about having company over to your house. It would be nice to be highly organized with a tidy home at all times. But I almost bet all of us have had a last minute visitor and shoved something in a closet out of sight right before they ring the doorbell.

If the clutter is unseen it doesn’t exist to the guest.
⠀⠀
Similarly, with our health we often prioritize the appearance of health over true health. I hear “I’m going to get healthy.” Almost always followed by the goal number on the scales. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Which shows what you really mean is: I’m going to lose weight.
⠀⠀
If you need some clarity on what I’m saying here please DM me! I think we all tend to lean toward doing whatever we want as long as we look fine until we are no longer fine.
⠀⠀
Life is fragile. Our bodies are gifts. We have power to take back true health. 🙌🏻❤️

  • Another teammate shout out! Kim speaks of the non scale victories and I have to be honest, they're kind of the best part! Congratulations, Kim!!! "Today has been a great day and I thought I would share☺️
I have been on this program for a little over 1 year (7 months on maintenance) 💕 and today I experienced my 1st ever NON SCALE VICTORY🙌🏻
In the same day by (2) different people I was told “your melting away” and “you have gotten so skinny” 👉🏻 SKINNY and Kim have never been in the same sentence before.

.
Feeling tired is not an illness, you just need to choose proper means to solve this problem.
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Things on the right side are short-term solutions that worsen the situation. Things on the left side are long-term solutions.
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many people start their day with a cup of coffee just to wake up, because they go to bed late and scroll social media on their phones or tablets in bed before sleep. No wonder they don't have enough sleep and quality of their sleep is not good either.
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Stop taking supplements and energy boosters, it's just a temporary solution, it doesn't solve the problem at its root. You need to go back to basics - sleep, drink enough water, get more fresh air, exercise – those are natural doctors that give you energy. All of them should be part of a healthy long-term solution.
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
If you want to experience all day energy, you should put your attention and action more on those 4 instead of picking quick fixes

  • Currently in the season of bridal showers, bachelorette parties, and mimosas🍹

It is possible to still have fun and continue to tone up and crush goals especially when you have the right tools and amazing support.
I take my workouts and superfoods with me, I try to always start my day with a workout and a healthy meal, and I don’t restrict myself from indulging and enjoying myself. Life is short so enjoy every second of it in a healthy way 💪🏼 #whynotyou

  • Ok, I look like a crazy person, but I nearly fell over tonight when I saw my book Lift to Get Lean is STILL on the shelves at @barnesandnoble 🎉🎊💫🎈💯🙋🏼‍♀️✌🏻
#filterneeded
.
This book was a labor of love and I am thrilled every time I hear from a woman who bought it.
.
I wrote this book as a strength training bible for women. If you are developing your skills in the gym and want to learn how to strength train even better, this one is for you. I created 4 really smart workouts based on the most common programming considerations I’ve used with clients over the past 25 years. If you haven’t already, pick up a copy 💪🏻
.
One of these days I’ll get myself back on track so that I can write my next book. It’s coming, I swear! #healthfirst
.
Still so grateful to @michprom @stantoncompany @womenshealthmag and @rodalebooks for this incredible life achievement 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

  • Do you find living a #healthylifestyle expensive? Is that factoring into whether or not you eat well (good quality* foods and supplements) and exercise regularly with proper monitoring (having a professional correct and adjust your posture / form / technique)?
•
I know it can seem expensive and daunting to venture down the road to healthier living but I’m here to tell you it doesn’t have to be. There are so many small changes you can start to make today without complicating your life and emptying your bank account 💰
•
🍃Five nutrition tips to start eating healthier:
1. Drink more water 💦
2. Cook at home (this ensures you know what’s being put into your food - plus it saves you money)
3. Buy whole foods (eating whole foods is cheaper and so much healthier)
4. Buy different types of protein instead of always relying on meat (hemp hearts, chia seeds, chickpeas etc)
5. Stop buying junk (it’s bad for you and pricey)
•
💪Five #exercisetips to get the most effective workout:
1. Take a monthly / bi-monthly private training session to get a program designed specifically for you OR take regular small group classes (both options ensure you’re performing your exercises with proper form (doing your exercises properly will help avoid injury = saving money on potential physical therapy for an avoidable injury 😉)
2. Workout at home (so many amazing apps with great programs *make sure you’re taking advice from certified / qualified trainers!)
3. Get outside! Head to a park and get a sweat on - monkey bars make great pull-up bars 💪)
4. Pre-plan your workouts. This helps make sure you don’t waste time during the actual workout time.
5. Stick to a routine, yo-yo-ing back and forth between different routines usually slows down your progress
•
Let me know if you have any other tips that are working for you - always looking for new and better ways to stay healthy 🍃🙌💪

  • Who else gets excited about Kale like I do? 💃🏽 It’s such a tasty side dish and I absolutely love to include it in my smoothies.
• With more nutritional value than spinach, it may help improve blood glucose control in diabetes, lower the risk of cancer, reduce blood pressure, and help prevent the development of asthma.
🥬🥬🥬🥬
• It’s high in fiber and water. Both of these help prevent constipation and promote regularity and a healthy digestive tract.
• The potassium content of kale may help reduce the risk of heart disease.
🥬🥬🥬🥬
Wait, there’s more!!!
🥬🥬🥬🥬
• The fiber and antioxidants in kale may offer protection against diabetes
• Those with type-2 diabetes may see improved blood sugar, lipids, and insulin levels.
• It is also a good source of vitamin B, C and iron which promotes iron absorption. These are essential for the release of energy from food.
🚫 Please note 🚫 Anyone who is taking blood thinning medication or who has a kidney problem should check with a doctor before adding more kale to the diet.
🥬🥬🥬🥬
Super vegetable? Heck yeah!!!
SHARE WITH ME HOW you eat your kale: As a side dish, in your salad or as an ingredient in your smoothies?

Have you ever thought about that?
We all have 24hours during the day. It’s up to you how you want to use them ⏰

  • Still out here grinding 🙋🏼‍♂️
.
Definitely took a step back with my training, and letting life come into the picture more often. It’s not healthy to ONLY spend your time weighing food, training and missing out on time with friends and family.
.
Remember, we are doing this to improve our lives, and not letting it BECOME your whole life. If you aren’t living, what is the point of it all? .
Hey, if taking a step back, and spending more time doing other things in life has me still looking like this, what have you got to lose ;) ✌🏻

  • You’ve probably heard various myths about when you are most infectious when you have a cold or flu. ⠀ ⠀
Here are the #facts!⠀
⠀
The infectious period for a common cold and influenza is from about 1 day before symptoms begin and for the first 5-7 days of the illness. ⠀
⠀
After 5 days, the level of infectiousness is probably very low. However young children, older people, and those with weakened immune systems are able to infect others for a longer time.⠀
⠀
The most important thing is you can do is stay home and rest if you aren’t feeling well, as it’s the best way to a speedy recovery! It also helps to stop the spread of viruses to others. ⠀

It presents in different forms, ranging from full on panic attacks that make it impossible to function at school, work or social situations to milder test anxiety or OCD. Most people are able to manage anxiety symptoms with medication or therapeutic techniques, but they never actually address the underlying root cause of what is happening in the body and brain to trigger the anxiety.

Managing symptoms does not solve the underlying issues that cause anxiety. In order to resolve your anxiety, you need to understand what causes your anxiety.

  • 'Tell me something about yourself'
Hardest question ever am I right?!
⠀⠀⠀
You hear this question at every interview and hear more often as a coach!
⠀⠀⠀
'What are 4-5 things that make you you outside of coaching?'
⠀⠀⠀
I swear I have the hardest time answering it! But as I'm writing this I think the pictures I chose that stood out to me tell a bit about who I am.
⠀⠀⠀
SWIPE LEFT ⬅️
⠀⠀⠀
So ya I'm a Beachbody coach and it makes me the happiest and healthiest I have ever been in a 'job'
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe Left. I'm also weird as fuck and most people (you're lucky) don't get to see that side of me.
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe Left. I suffer with chronic pain in my lips for the last 5 years. Now it's more invisible but it still reminds me that it's there every day. That's part of the reason I'm thankful to work virtually cause talking all day long makes my symptoms worse.
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe left. After gaining 80lbs and being diagnosed with Lyme Disease and a Thyroid problem I've lost 60lbs and have made a complete lifestyle change.
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe left. I just got married to my high school sweet heart who I met on the bus in grade 10. If you haven't noticed we are still obsessed with each other💕
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe left. I love wearing dresses but I can not walk in heels. So yes you will almost always find me wearing pretty outfits with my Addidas Sandals😎
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe left. I started with just walking less than a km a day and am now in love with sweating and moving my body and challenging it to get stronger every day💪🏻
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe left. I am OBSESSED with the ocean and the sunshine and heat🙌🏻 I do not like winter pretty much at all and have been planning my escape from the cold for years.
⠀⠀⠀
Swipe left. Neither Graeme or I want kids but family is still one of the most important things to me ever and now I never have to miss the small and big events✨
⠀⠀⠀
So that's just a part of me I guess 💁🏻‍♀️ I also started watching greys 6 years late but have already watched the whole series 3 three times. I overthink everything and I love with all of my heart 💕
⠀⠀⠀
The names Leah Tang😎

  • What's your favorite summer salad combo? I just love fresh corn, avocado, arugula mixed in my lettuce and cilantro. A little squeeze of lemon, sprinkle of Himalayan salt, pepper and good to go. Happy gal. 🍋#summersalads

  • 🔥Morning or Evening Workouts🔥

First thing is first...whether you workout in the morning or evening or anywhere in between, the fact that you're getting one in is what matters. Some people will say the morning is better because of XY and Z and others will say the evening is better, but truthfully it is what you prefer and your preference!
-
However, there are benefits and detriments to working out at different times of the day! Working out in the morning is a great way to start the day, kicks up your metabolism to a whole new level of burning, is usually when you're the most awake to get it done, and definitely gets you energized for the rest of the day not to mention it's over and done with and you don't have to worry about it later! However, you have less food in you, thus less fuel, and if you're not an early bird, you're probably not going to have too much fun doing it bright and early😂
.
On the other hand, working out in the evening is one of the best destressers from the day, you'll be able to lift more from the additional good in your system (more food means more fuel) and you can sleep in an extra hour or so, but you may have to push through fatigue that you gained throughout the day and psychologically it is a bit harder to have gone through a whole work day, still knowing that you have to workout.
-
Regardless of when you did it, there is going to be benefits and detriments! I personally prefer the morning if my schedule allows it and it is something I can stick to in the long term! Remember, consistency is what is important! .

  • 💪 Awesome transformation by @loving_lessofme_more: ⬇️145lbs with keto & exercise⁣
👉 When I think about it, I’m sometimes ashamed that my daughter ⁣
witnessed my self-loathing for so many years. I always preached self-confidence to her but I couldn’t muster up the empathy to embrace it myself because I knew what she didn’t… I was fat and fat was humiliating. When I look at this picture from our family trip in 2016 I know my sweet girl isn’t judging me or ashamed of me. She’s simply looking up to her mom… following my lead… learning how she should feel about her own body. If I could go back I would have seen myself through her eyes and realized that my weight was never the problem. It was my poor self-confidence and terrible self-esteem that was humiliating- not my body. I’m proud of the goals I’ve achieved and continue to work hard towards and I’m proud that my girls can witness my new healthy lifestyle. But I am even more proud that my daughters have a strong mom to look up to. Not because I weigh less, but because I know better. I know that my self-worth and self-confidence is in no way related to the size of my body or societies’ perception of it. And instead of telling them how to have self-confidence ... I can lead by example ♥️⠀
145lbs difference, What are you waiting for?

IS A CALORIE A CALORIE? 🤔
.⠀
Yes, if 1600 calories is an appropriate target for your weight loss goal, then sticking to either of these diets would bring results. ⚖️ ⠀
.⠀
However foods offer us more than just calories. Traditionally 'healthy foods' tend to be advantageous for weight loss because they are more voluminous per kcal, more filling and more micro dense. All of this creates a healthier, less hungry environment, which makes sticking to the diet more possible. 🥕 ⠀
.⠀
Trying to eat 1600kcal of processed foods will likely result in far less filling, less voluminous food and poor micro density. Feeling sluggish and very hungry is not a great way to go about losing weight and will almost certainly lead to overconsumption or going off track. 🍪 ⠀
.
FINDING YOUR BALANCE: ⠀
.⠀
Both diets above have draw backs, there should always be an element of balance. Depriving yourself of all the foods you like and force feeding kale is a good way to get sick of dieting and give up entirely. If we understand that a calorie deficit is the physiological mechanism of weight loss.
.
This may mean swapping in a 250kcal chocolate bar in place of yogurt and fruit. In the context of a micro dense, high protein, calorie matched diet, this swap will have zero affect on your weight loss goal, other than that you may be slightly hungrier - but slightly happier! Choose the diet that helps you maintain a calorie deficit for the length of time required to lose weight, happily and healthily.
