  • What did we do when we discovered moth holes in our wool sweaters besides cry? Took the rest of the wool and silk items to the cleaners or washed them, and ordered tiny wasps ( wing span 1/50 of an inch!!) to eat the moth larvae. Love this non-toxic way to handle this problem!! #nontoxic #goodinsects #greensolutions #easytouse #writers

  • Calling all gardeners! Today is #NationalSwapSeedDay, a day where gardeners have historically swapped seeds from their best plants. Did you know that seeds were one of the first commodities valued and traded? Today is also a great opportunity to check out @sonoranseedlife powered by Plant Aid.

  • As a company that uses timber in its production, we do all we can to pay extra attention to make sure that our log cabins are made from sustainably sourced wood. All our material is FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified, we use environmentally friendly solutions in our logistics and we support worthwhile initiatives that actively tackle climate change and other environmental challenges.
One such initiative is @worldcleanupday.ldiw, which is a global event with Estonian roots. This weekend, World Cleanup Day leaders from 180 countries are gathered in Tallinn to set their agenda for the year ahead and speak about the success of 2019 when 21 million people across the world joined a cleanup. We encourage everyone to join the next World Cleanup Day on 19 September 2020 and keep our forests clean!

  • Bringing together voices to grow a sisterhood collective and build a thriving voice in The design industry has been a long time dream and this year is the year to take my Brilliant Dream forward.
Let’s look into the root of the word sister. We can learn so much from studying the beginning, the intention of a word.

Here it is, The Latin word ‘sistere’ means ‘to cause to stand’. The idea here is to ‘set something up in a standing position’. Isn’t that freaking awesome? And oh so true?
A sister’s support can pull us from the very edge of the cliff, straight into revival, redemption, and reclamation.
There is nothing more profound than having another woman stand for us, when we cannot stand for ourselves.

In Design terms wherein a builder can ‘sister a joist’, meaning you place a strong board right next to a weaker one, to strengthen it and straighten sagging joists.
Sistering is about both sisters gaining strength, rather than either one of them weakening. That is why good sistering has to begin with really good self-care.

Building others up!
Come join Us in self-care and creating this sisterhood of Design and be the “ sister joist” you’ve always wanted.
We’ve got you!

  • “There’s so much CO2 in our atmosphere, planting trees will no longer save us.” 😨 Many of you have probably read that headline in the past few days. We want to tell you that this is false! Trees 🌲 by themselves may not save us, but they will contribute... on a massive scale! 😊

According to the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), we have almost 11 years to reverse 🔁 the effect of climate change or we will face severe irreversible consequences. While we might not be able to “grow enough trees to capture the necessary amount of CO2 that would help us meet the targets set by the Paris Agreement,” (@studentproblems) planting 🌳🌳 will definitely contribute to slowing down climate change! As @dailymail puts it, “planting trees clearly isn't going to be the sole solution to global warming, but it can still help.” 😊 Places like Australia 🇦🇺, for instance, promise to plant 1 billion trees by 2050 to fight the climate crisis. (@glblctzn). 💚😱 In the video, @worldeconomicforum explains that by planting a trillion trees, we can erase over a decade of carbon emissions! 😁 We’re definitely not too far that planting trees won’t “save us.” Instead, they will benefit us! 🌿

We’re well informed that there are other measures you’d have to take to slow down climate change, ❗️ but our goal as @plantforeverorg is to develop urban forests! 🌳🌲 We need to keep in mind that trees do more than just absorb carbon dioxide, and you can view their numerous other benefits by visiting our earlier posts. ☺️ Along with planting trees, 🌳 there are various ways YOU could reduce your carbon footprint 👣 like switching over to biking/walking 🚶‍♂️ rather than driving 🚙 or purchasing products with little to no packaging! -

If you live in the Edmonton area and would like to reduce your carbon footprint, 👣 you can accept a free tree 🌲 for your home. Other ways you can aid us in tree planting is by registering to volunteer on our website or donating 💚 (we’re a nonprofit and solely rely on donations to function). Link in bio: @plantforeverorg

  • Canada’s climate is warming twice the global rate 🌎 and nearly three times the global average in the Far North. ❄️ To help protect and prevent climate change from getting worse, Canada is investing its time into renewable energy! 🌱

Hydroelectricity, bioenergy and solar energy ☀️ are just a few of many sources the country is using to help slow down the effects of climate change! 59.3% of Canada’s electricity generation comes from moving 🌊, or hydropower! -

Canada 🇨🇦 is endeavoring to eliminate the dangers that come along with climate change, but they can definitely do more! 😊 Increasing its targets for its pledge to the Paris Agreement as well as having a concrete plan about how to achieve those commitments will be a great way to begin! As of now, Canada is aimed to fall 79 megatonnes short of its 2030 GHG emission target. 😱 More than half of Canada’s energy (60%) comes from renewable sources, but it isn’t enough. The country needs to increase that number so that most, if not all, of the energy, can come from renewable sources such as hydropower and wind power! 💚

How can your country, or Canada, work to further reduce their contribution to climate change? Let us know! -

  • What is green energy and why is it so important when we talk about the climate crisis? 🌱⚡💡 Green energy is renewable energy generated from natural resources such as sunlight, wind or water. Traditional energy is generated from fossil fuels like oil, coal and gas, all resources that are not renewable. If we have a look at the global CO2 emissions per production sector we will see that over 40% of them come from electricity and heat production, therefore it plays a big role what kind of energy we are using ⚡ ⁣
⁣
One of the big benefits of green energy is that is has much lower CO2 emissions than energy from fossil fuels, hence shifting to green energy worldwide would lower the global CO2 emissions immensely. ⁣
⁣
Using clean energy also has some disadvantages, like that some of them rely on the weather but overall the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. ⁣
Green technologies became more affordable in the last years, so hopefully we can make the global change soon enough 💪⁣
⁣
If you have the option to obtain green energy in your city think about switching to it! If you live in a house you may also want to think about installing green energy technologies. Of course politics and industry have to change too - you can also support that by voting for example.⁣
⁣
🍃 Have you thought about using green energy before? ⁣

I haven't used plastic cling wrap for almost a year now. I'm never going back! These @abeego beeswax food wraps are a total game changer in the kitchen. I've prevented so much unnecessary plastic waste with these!⠀
⠀
⠀
They keep food fresh for sooo long! Don't be afraid to squish and press these around any shape of food or container. They stick so well! To clean, just wash with cool water and the soft side of the sponge. ⠀
⠀
I've also made my own Beeswax wraps and shared tutorial on my blog! They are quite easy! Check out my DIY beeswax wraps tutorial on my blog. Link is in my profile!⠀
