  • Anche un venerdì dettato dal vento e dalla forte pioggia non ci ha fermati. Carichi dell'inizio del weekend prenotiamo un tavolo per 4 al ristorante @garage_gourmand 🍝, nel quartiere vomero di Napoli. ▪︎location 🌇: 8 locale piccolo, accogliente e ben curato nei minimi particolari con il suo arredamento urban che si abbina perfettamente al legno vivo. Pochi tavoli ben gestiti, il giusto spazio tra di essi.
▪︎cibo🍝: 8.5 materie prime di alta qualità sono la base affinché un bravo chef possa esprimere la sua arte. La scelta dei piatti sicuramente non è ampissima, ma ogni proposta contenuta  nel menù è finemente pensata più e più volte. Presentazione dei piatti🔝. Buona la scelta dei vini.
▪︎Atmosfera: 8 personale preparato e all'altezza del servizio. Affascinante usare la cassetta degli attrezzi come porta posate. Anche il minimo gesto verso la clientela viene apprezzato e un flute di benvenuto ed un entree dello chef sono solo un quid plus alla serata.
▪︎conto💲: 8 se consideriamo che abbiamo avuto il 30% di sconto utilizzando l'app the fork il conto è stato eccezionale, mentre se ci fossimo recati senza sapere dello sconto, il conto sarebbe stato giusto. 
Solo una cosa ci auguriamo: una volta che il garage gourmand si farà conoscere ad ampio raggio, mantenga la stessa cura del particolare di oggi, la stessa accortenza verso il cliente e gli stessi prezzi dei piatti.

A bit strange how I’ve never set foot in Gourmet Burger Kitchen, though it’s been on Mill Lane for years. Though I’m not really a burger person you see, only crave one every now and again. I actually prefer without the bread or just one piece of bread, anyone else with me, or think I’m a freak? 😂⠀

I didn’t expect it to look so nice in here! Really tasteful Christmas decor, love the high ceilings, the yellow and turquoise theme and the use of scrabble letters :) ⠀

My friend tried the Christmas burger as I wanted to eat light-ish that day (I opted for the crispy chicken burger with salad and corn on the cob instead of a bun. I would have it again and it was perfect for someone who isn’t fussed on bread). ⠀

He was a bit apprehensive about the cabbage, but said it was one of the best bits, tossed in pear, cinnamon and red wine for all those festive flavours. As you can see there’s a delicious, chunky beef patty, with good amount of camembert, complimented with the cranberry mayo. The only thing I have to mention as it’s kinda obvious 😅 is they forgot the prune in bacon and by the time we noticed it was too late, that would have been the cherry on top🎄 ⠀

The truffle fries were lovely too and the huge selections of options of mayo flavours was heaven for me....more on that another time as have saved the starters (my favs) for another post. Get the Christmas burger before it’s gone! 🍔

  • #ad | If you’ve been following me for a while you’ll know that I’m a big fan of @gbkburgers, and I’m happy to say that they’ve come up with some cracking additions for this Christmas.
First up is All Wrapped Up. Beef patty, cabbage pan-fried and tossed with pear, cinnamon, orange & red wine, rocket, Camembert, cranberry mayo, and topped with a prune wrapped in bacon.
I LOVED this. It’s not your typical Christmas burger, and with a big list of ingredients it’s not too heavy or over powering. That prune wrapped in bacon, life changing. Get it for £13.95 with a side and drink.
Everyday I’m Truffling is also a very good newbie. Beef patty, crumbed and fried Camembert, truffle mayo, rocket, and onion jam. Those deep fried Camembert bars add such a good texture to the burger. Firstly you’ve got the crispiness of the outside, then the oozy cheese once you bite through. The truffle mayo is good, again not too overpowering, and balanced perfectly with the onion jam. 
For someone who usually hates Brussel sprouts, I was a fan of these. Fried, with chipotle butter, grams Padano, and a side of baconnaise sauce. These also come under their new 2 sides for £5.95 deal.
I finished off with their Chocolate Vegan shake, which is VERY good. For someone who is lactose intolerant, like myself, this was an absolute pleasure to enjoy with no repercussions. 
Big up GBK, they’re the best of the nationwide chains in my opinion. If you’re not convinced, upgrade your burger with an aged patty. .

  • I’ve ‘bean’ dreaming about veeg burgers recently 😍💭🍔 (Invite)

It feels like it’s been a while since I’ve gotten my chops around a vegan burger. By a while, I mean a week, but, you know, in TLLV terms that’s a long ass time! 💁🏼‍♀️🍔 So, I was excited when @gbkburgers invited me in to test out their two vegan options 🌱 .

I LOVE a burger but I’ve never been a huge fan of a bean/veg patty (apart from @thevurgerco). I often find them dry & flavourless and in all honesty, these burgers didn’t change my mind 😞 Like always, I’m stoked to see vegan options getting more air time on a meaty menu, so props to GBK on that, but their offering could be stronger and I want to help with that, so here’s my feedback:

🍔 Jack-in-a-bun with a homemade butternut squash & quinoa patty, beetroot mayo, Korean pulled jackfruit, pickled onions, rocket on a sourdough bun - The idea here is good. It reminded me of a samosa in burger patty form. I liked the Indian spices but felt that they needed to be stronger. I found the patty very dry and too salty and would’ve loved to see a nice homemade chutney, which is what I think the jackfruit was going for, but it got totally lost in the burger .

🍔 The Californian with a homemade & pan-fried bean patty, vegan cheddar, smashed avocado, harissa mayo, paprika onions, relish, salad, sourdough bun. The patty was dry and overcooked so it was crunchy on the outside and chalky on the inside. Despite all of the ingredients, it was lacking in flavour and the chunky beans in the patty didn’t do it for me. In both burgers, I didn’t think the sourdough worked .

I’d love to see these burgers take a step up. They need a little TLC to bring them to life. It‘d also be nice to see a more ‘meaty’ option for those who aren’t big on bean burgers 🍔 🌱 .
