My father was a Naval officer & we grew up on Naval bases with a progressive environment & schooling. Unfortunately, we had to move back to our paternal village, as my grandfather's health deteriorated. The change was unsettling as our upbringing was very different. We became the subject of discussion, for the whole village as they saw us as outsiders.
Girls here were married off before they could finish their secondary school education as a custom in this new community of ours & my elder sister fell prey. She was married at the age of 17 years & she was confined to be in the house boundaries
That was the end of her dreams. Within a year of being married, she had her first child.
Only 15, I was in shock & feared of a similar fate. It was when my parents felt guilty for her, I took the liberty of talking to them for my career. I was a good student & had always made my parents proud. My persistence paid off, they agreed to my plans of pursuing further education.
Since I was the only girl allowed to study & pursue my dreams, I was sure I had to prove them all wrong, all those who believed a girl is lesser than a boy & also I didn't want to let my parents down. I worked on being financially independent as soon as I could.

I enrolled for a computer programing course along with noncollegiate graduation degree & landed a job, immediately after the completion of the diploma, I was still in second-year graduation.
Got married at the age of 22, to a very accommodating man, but my new family wasn't too happy about me working as they feared I wouldn't do any household chores. I convinced my mother in law, to fit in every way possible in exchange for my career. She thought I would give up soon, so she agreed. But I was clear, no matter what hurdles came, I wouldn't give up & so I didn't.
Opportunities are always there we just need to find, ways to cash in.
As I did, found my way from home to school to college & then to a career.
There are always ways to achieve your dreams.
Provided you never give up
