🏋️‍♀️First pump class in ages today 💪⁣
⁣
There is, ahem, quite a bit of work to do I think! 🤭⁣
⁣
BUT it was still fun along with being a good wake up call⁣
⁣
AND I remembered how to do almost everything so that was good⁣

Enjoying the momentum x 💪

  • Build Bigger Bicep Peaks by combining the Cable Bar Curl with the Hammer Curl on the Preacher Curl Bench.

CABLE BAR CURLS are a more isolate exercise (they isolate the bicep with fewer synergistic muscles participating in the movement) and also provides more constant tension on the muscle. They are better at shaping the muscle or finishing it off at the end of your bicep session
_

PREACHER CURLS help to fully stretch out the biceps and isolate the muscle. Simply by bracing your arms against the preacher bench when curling will eliminate body momentum and force all the workload on the bicep muscles
_

HAMMER CURLS help work the brachialis, which is that bump of a muscle that’s between the biceps and triceps. The brachialis muscle looks awesome when developed because it adds more lines to the arms and just makes them look even more impressive and full when flexed
_

This is an awesome isolation exercise that you can do either as a pre-exhaust move at the beginning of a bicep workout, or as a finishing move at the end of your workout

  • Some of you already know I've been battling a heart arrhythmia. It causes scary palpations sometimes. It's gotten worse in the past year.

It's one of those odd circumstances: I know it's gotten worse because I've not been working my heart, but working my heart is scary. I get stuck in this loop where I'm afraid to exercise, but I know if I don't my heart will just get worse.

So after some research and some trial and error, I've begun supplementing with a good quality omega 3, limiting my saturated fat, and keeping my heart rate below 160. While 160/170 would be a great cardio goal, until I know my heart is strong enough to handle more strenuous activity I'm staying in a safer zone. I notice 155 is a good high to shoot for right now. I managed to stay between 140 and 153 today. (Thank goodness for wearable fitness tracking!) So. Here we go again. Just starting slower and focusing on endurance first.

  • A couple key points that I have found helpful the past few years: 1. Find coaches that will push you mentally and physically, while building confidence; 2. Surround yourself with like-minded athletes with common goals; 3. Do something every day to be a better person in society, sharpen tools as an athlete, become and empathetic individual in your relationships; 4. Train hard when others relax; 5. Lift heavy-ass weights #5starmafia #goodworkouttoday #CoachJuanKnows #Mafia #Baseballlife
