  • Where there's light, there's also shade.

Between 1845 and 1849, Ireland went through the Great Hunger caused by a potato blight, during which about one million people died of starvation and another million emigrated from the country. That was a quarter of the island's population.
It is not called famine, though, because there was food in Ireland: corn, sheep, swine, hourses, honey, salmon, beans. It was exported to England during the period.

On the other side - "Linenopolis". Or Belfast that brought ships, linen, tobacco, whiskey, iron to the country. A lower limit to temperature and milk chocolate was discovered here.

Wherever we go, we should try to find both.

  • STUMP CROSS CAVERNS 🔦
.
This remains, hands down, one of Noah's favourite ever outings and somewhere he asks every holiday and weekend to go back to. I loved this place as a child too and it still hasn't lost its sense of adventure!
.
Stump Cross Caverns is the perfect place to introduce your little ones to caves in a safe environment which is suitable for all ages and is the least claustrophobic environment you can get for a cave! I've been bringing Noah here since he was 2 and can't wait to see what Aoife thinks to it. As soon as you arrive the sense of adventure starts as they get their torch and helmet and take the stairs down to the cave. For an extra £2 there is a fun fairy door hunt to do, for which they get a guaranteed prize at the end. You also get a map of the cave but the route is straightforward and easy to navigate. It's amazing to see the little ones faces as they see the structures the limestone has formed 😳.
.
It's also one of the friendliest places to visit and the staff will go out of their way to make sure you all have a great time. Food is served until close and it's hearty Yorkshire food with plenty of choice for children served in a relaxed, homely atmosphere. There is a large free car park and there is so much to do nearby!
.
Only 3 miles from Pateley Bridge you have access to the whole of the Yorkshire Dales. You're also just up the road from Bolton Abbey and Simon's Seat. You can visit Ilkley and the Cow and Calf, Harrogate, or alternatively pop to Almscliffe Crag like we did on our way home via north Leeds.
.
One of our favourite places and perfect for young ones including toddlers. Just be careful as they go down the steps. Do remember to take a coat/warm jumper as it does get cold down there! .
Open most days but see their Facebook page for more info! Or www.stumpcrosscaverns.co.uk

  • Getting our girl power on today and partnering with a local Brownie Girl Scout group to observe nature and learn how to help local pollinators! We used bug vacuums to check out bees up close and a California pollinator identification pocket guide to try to identify how many different species we could spot.

  • It’s funny how we always drive down sunset blvd but never see this super colorful store. It’s just as colorful on the inside as the outside. Creative T-Shirts and fun vibes. They are remodeling now, but we can’t wait to see the new colors when it opens again in a few weeks. .
.
.
STOP THE PRESSES! We love color and this store is full of it. We are going to fill your feed with lots of color this week, are you ready?
.
.
ps: we are looking for cool art walls in LA and area, any suggestions?

  • It’s important to me in this space that my intention always be inspiration-focused and never envy-focused. I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately and it really needs to be said....I hear often enough that my life “looks so fun” (read in wistful tones), and it makes me want to walk around with a giant disclaimer that says “THIS IS A HIGHLIGHT REEL!”📣 I don’t like to focus on the negative (for instance in this photo, a dog was pooping like 15 ft away, and there was a never ending smell of urine like, everywhere we walked 🤮) because I’d rather share with everyone how pretty a concrete jungle can be and what a day of rare 75 degrees and low-humidity in NYC looks like. 🌆❤️ ALSO I’m a photographer so keep in mind that I’m constantly trying to 1) celebrate the best side of everything. 2) To find beauty in the mundane, and 3) share it with the world. My goal is always to inspire you to explore and to realize adventure is very much an achievable thing. “Adventure is out there!” - Russell from UP. Lol. Have fun, wilderness explorers. ☺️👍🏼
