  • three years ago when i started posting about fitness, i had no idea where i was going. i had no idea what i was doing. i had no idea where i would would end up.
and three years later, i still donโ€™t. the scenery has changed. iโ€™ve *definitely* changed, a lot. but the funny thing about the universe is that it keeps moving, keeps shifting, keeps growing, and weโ€™re drug (whether we want to go or not) along with it. so to think that we could ever know whatโ€™s going to happen or what weโ€™re going to become is a waste of time and energy. because three years ago, if you would have told me that i would be a full-time engineer, powerlifter, strength coach to 24 athletes, living in New Jersey...well i wouldโ€™ve called you crazy. but the universe loves to laugh at our plans.
all of this ramble to say, if youโ€™re freaking out right now about whatโ€™s going to happen and where youโ€™re going and what youโ€™re going to do, itโ€™s ok. itโ€™s ok to ~not know~ because really, none of us know. we set goals and we run towards them full speed, but on some grander level, our trajectories will fluctuate as the universe chooses. iโ€™m not saying to give up on your hopes and dreams, because iโ€™m living my dream right now. but this wasnโ€™t my dream 3 years ago. this definitely wasnโ€™t my dream 10 years ago. and iโ€™m sure in another 10 years my dream will shift as the universe sees a need and pushes me to fill it. we are but little ship captains in this big river of life, and we can do our best to adjust the sails and pursue our heartsโ€™ desires, but we will always be directed by the current, leading us one way or another. so take a deep breath with me. the universe loves to play jokes, and this thing called life happens to be the biggest joke of all. i think one day weโ€™ll be able to look back and laugh at this great adventure, but in the meantime, buckle your seatbelts. the uncertainty of life is scary, but i think letting that fear hold you back from truly *~living~* is even scarier.

I always thought... how can you ๐๐Ž๐“ have time for yourself?? How can you be ๐’๐Ž dang busy ALL the time? Well, I can tuck my tail &confidently say that I get it now. I GET IT! Trying to wrangle 3 chirren is every bit of a full-time job. You donโ€™t get a momentโ€™s peace, hell, you donโ€™t even get a moment to yourself. This is a new reality I had no idea even existed. โฃโฃ

  • woke up this morning missing the stage a lilโ€™ extra. i love being up there, and wow iโ€™d put on my beautiful sparkly bikini and heels and step up there again in a heartbeat - but, it is not the time. entering bulking season is difficult not only because you must alter your mentality, but because as competitors we LOVE what we do - and that is competing. itโ€™s prep, itโ€™s show day, itโ€™s having that medal hung around your neck after weeks and weeks of sacrifice. but, itโ€™s also the off-season. itโ€™s the hours spent in the gym growing the physique, itโ€™s knowing what we need to further develop - eating above maintenance, and improving. getting strong is fun. eating above maintenance is fun. every season has its place.
