  • HOW TO USE THE CALF PRESS MACHINE

First of all, excuse my massively hairy legs - there are calves under there somewhere!
Secondly, I have seen a lot of people using this machine incorrectly recently so I hope this helps 🙂

1⃣ How you should perform the calf press. Only the balls of your feet sit on the pads. Keeping your knees fixed in position allows the work to be focused on the calf. Also you need a complete range of motion - sinking your heels to increase dorsiflexion, and coming right up onto your tiptoes to create plantar flexion (check me out using posh words 🤣)
2️⃣ Half reps. You can use this method if you want to really fatigue your calf muscles, but usually that's only done once you have performed all the full reps that your calves can do, not as a standalone movement.
3️⃣ NOPE! THIS IS NOT A LEG PRESS MACHINE. Your knees should not be bending like this! The focus needs to be on your calves, not your Quads.
