Non è mai troppo tardi per imparare a cucinare i #meze turchi!
Per meze si intendono gli antipasti freddi (alcuni anche caldi ma la maggior parte sono “freddi”) che vengono serviti (solitamente a scelta del cliente) nei ristoranti prima di una portata calda (carne o pesce che sia) e accompagnati dal #rakı (acquavite aromatizzata all’anice allungato con acqua). Era da tempo che chiedevo alla mia coinquilina di insegnarmi qualche ricetta tradizionale turca e stasera abbiamo preparato insieme una serie di meze che non vedo l’ora di riproporre anche a casa per una cena #rakıbalık. •Prima di tutto abbiamo preparato gli #yaprak. Si tratta di foglie di vite arrotolate ripiene di riso, cipolla, #salça e prezzemolo. Dopo averle arrotolate vengono cotte al vapore chiuse tra uno strato di patate, uno di scorze di limone e uno di foglie di vite. •Il secondo e terzo meze erano a base di #süzmeyoğurt (quello che noi italiani chiamiamo ingenuamente yogurt greco) e aglio grattugiato. Nella prima versione abbiamo aggiunto menta secca e #dill. La seconda versione viene chiamata #atom (atom ricorda proprio la parola italiana “atomico” nel senso che scoppia in bocca come una bomba tanto è forte) ed include principalmente il peperoncino essiccato e fatto rosolare in padella con l’olio. •Abbiamo accompagnato queste salse spalmabili con dei #tuzlukurabiye (biscotti salati, sono simili a dei #cracker con semi di girasole o sesamo sopra, creano dipendenza). •Come dolce le ho espressamente chiesto di assistermi durante la preparazione del #kadayıflımuhallebi. Si tratta di un dolce con alla base e in cima pasta #kadayıf, uno spaghetto molto fine usato per i dolci tipo il #kunefe, e all’interno una crema di latte e panna. È uno dei miei dolci preferiti ma, non so come, mi piace solo la versione preparata secondo la ricetta della mia coinquilina. Lo stesso dolce preso altrove non ha lo stesso sapore e o risulta troppo dolce o troppo poco cremoso. •Abbiamo accompagnato tutti questi piatti con dell’ottimo vino #syriac. Non mi sento di dare giudizi specifici su questo vino vista la mia non-professionalità come sommelier, ma posso solo ammettere che era buonissimo!

  • Thrilled to have discovered @redemptionbar - a vegan, alcohol-free restaurant in London’s Notting Hill. Everything was fabulous from my Caleno & Hibiscus mocktail, to the grilled aubergine & tahini, jackfruit soft tacos, pad Thai and an indulgent hot chocolate. I’ll be back for sure 😍🙌

Had to try a traditional Okinawan food. And best experienced at Ryukyu Sabo Ashibiuna.  Main course is bitter ground which is common in tropical Asia. Twas a delicious and healthy meal.

  • Buenas tardes Food Lovers 🥐👩🏽‍🍳. Hoy os traemos un nuevo descubrimiento en Madrid: la Taberna más al Sur. Pertenece a un grupo de restaurantes localizados en la zona de Antón Martín especializados en tapas y cocina tradicional española: 
1. ⚡️Wok de tallarines con verduras: estaban tan sabrosos y jugosos que se convirtió en uno de nuestros platos favoritos (7,80€).
2. ⚡️Berenjenas rebozadas con miel y salsa de remolacha: no os imagináis lo buenas que estaban estas berenjenas: crujientes por fuera y en su punto por dentro. Además, la salsa le daba un toque fresco y diferente. 
3. ⚡️Huevos rotos con jamón: una buena ración de huevos rotos con unas patatas muy bien hechas (10,80€).
4. ⚡️Pulpo a la plancha: nos enamoró locamente este delicioso plato de pulpo porque la salsa que incluía estaba muy buena (16,80€).
5. ⚡️Chipirones a la plancha con ensalada: para nuestro gusto era una ración un poco pequeña pero estaban muy buenos (11€).
6. ⚡️Solomillo de cerdo con salsa moscatel y uvas: nos gustó mucho el marinado de este solomillo (11€).
7. ⚡️Ensalada cesar: una ensalada clásica pero bastante contundente y con ingredientes variados. 
8. ⚡️Tarta de chocolate: lo mejor de la comida llegó con el postre. No os hacéis una idea de lo buena que estaba esta tarta, me habría comido 100 más. 
9. ⚡️Tarta de queso: al igual que la de chocolate, esta tarta de queso estaba muy rica. 
Nos sorprendieron muy gratamente los platos que incluían en la carta, ya que, a pesar de ser tradicionales, les daban un toque innovador añadiendo sabores diferentes. Además, cuentan con un servicio muy profesional y atento. Lo que menos nos gustó es que nos trajeron todos los platos a la vez y no pudimos ir disfrutándolos poco a poco.

  • It's all about the mochi! 😍😍😍

🇺🇸🇬🇧⬇️| Mochi = prajitura japoneza din orez. Stiu, termenul de "prajitura" e cam vag pt ca nu are nici aluat (cel putin nu din faina) si nici crema sau topping. Mochi sunt ca nice bilute gelatinoase facute dintr-un anumit fel de orez, umplute cu tot felul de chestii, de la capsuni proaspete la pasta de fasole rosie (care e dulce btw). Se face un pic ca untul traditional la noi: se bate orezul intr-un vas mare de lemn pana cand arata ca o plastilina. Cam asa e si ca textura 😋

Este mega popular in Asia, mai ales Japonia (considerata ca tara de origine, desi exista si variante chinezesti). Dar, la cat e de popular, e si la fel de periculos. Tocmai din cauza texturii de plastilina lipicioasa pentru ca trebuie mestecat ca lumea altfel risti o moarte prin sufocare. Deci nu glumesc 😊in fiecare an sunt raportate destule decese prin sufocare cu mochi in Japonia. In mod special la seniorii cu proteze si la copii mici. Asa ca mestecati cu grija 😉

Calling it a cake is maybe too far fetched. There's no dough and no topping, at least not in the traditional way we know it. But it has a soft texture and you'll fall in love with it like everyone else, trust me! My favourite is green tea mochi. The one in the third pic was truly amazing: fresh matcha mochi with a fresh strawberry inside! DIVINE! •
But there are so many variations & fillings out there, with banana, taro, red beans and the list goes on and on and on.

Now Mochi is a very popular dessert. But also a dangerous one. It's hard to chew as it's very sticky and lots of people (especially elderly with fake teeth) die of choking by mochi every year. I am not kiding, it's real news 😊So try to enjoy mochi while you are young and avoid death by mochi by chewing it with care😉

Pour le premier brunch de l'année, c'est chez @lesbainsdumarais que je suis allée ! C'était une surprise pour mon anniversaire, je ne connaissais pas l'adresse jusqu'au bout 👀
Moi qui pensais connaître, eh bien pas du tout. C'est un spa en plein cœur du Marais avec une partie coffeeshop. J'adore le concept ! Tous les weekends Les Bains du Marais propose une offre pour le brunch.
J'ai choisi la formule à 29 euros :
- Tartines de pain et viennoiseries
- Salede de tomates et sa burratina
- Pancakes et œufs brouillés
- Gaufre à la pâte à tartiner
- Boisson chaude
- Boisson froide
Autant dire que nous sommes calés à la fin ! Mais l'endroit est tellement cosy que l'on y reste pour bien digérer.
J'ai hâte de retourner chez eux pour mon soin !

  • If you’re new here, you might now know that I lived in Italy for a few months during college… If you’re not new here, you’re probably sick of hearing about it (but it was the best experience of my life and it’s the reason The Foreign Fork exists, so you’re going to have to keep hearing about it lol).

The main benefit of living in Italy is, duh, the food! Even going to the grocery store is such a different experience than going to the supermarket in America. The foods are so fresh and so FLAVORFUL. And there was so much to experiment with!

One night, my friend Elizabeth invited me over to her apartment to cook dinner…. We loved to experiment with different Italian foods, and she had had an idea: Gnocchi with Brown Butter.

I went over to Elizabeth’s apartment that night, and we gossiped about Italian boys, ate nutella, and then cooked gnocchi with brown butter. Can you think of a more perfect study abroad experience? No wonder we’re still best friends 😉

Anyways, the brown butter on our gnocchi recipe was a game changer…. I was thinking about it the other day and had an idea. The only thing that could have made that dish better was some sage and toasted walnuts. And thus, our recipe for today was born🥰

MY TAKE: And that ladies and gentlemen is great marketing. I would love to attack that Snickers bar with a meat cleaver and eat it like a ravenous barbarian. When in reality I could probably only manage a small bit off the corner. 🤗
