  • Cheeseburger Helper. 💙

This has made its way to the permanent meals list at my house. I used 1 lb 96/4 ground beef and subbed the cheese sauce for 3/4 cup Great Value double cheddar pasta sauce. Each time I make this dish I tweak the recipe a little more. This time I used 4 cups shredded cabbage vs 2, simmered in 3/4 cup water with cooked beef and spices covered for 10-12 minutes. Stirred in the cheese sauce and added 1 T Hoosier Hill Farms cheddar powder. Served with sautéed green beans.

Diet: It’s a no brainer that food is fuel. If we’re not eating enough, we’ll feel like we’re riding on empty & have no energy for work or the gym. If feeling crummy, dial up that intake & consider eating more carbs!⁣⁣

Exercise: Body was indeed made to move… but wasn’t made to be slammed into the floor on the daily either. Consider netting 8-10k steps daily, pick up something heavy 2-3x/wk, get out of breath 1-2x/wk, &then get outta the gym.⁣⁣

Caffeine: There is totally too much of a good thing. Try reducing consumption to 200mg or less & see if there’s a change in how we feel.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Adrenal health: Stress is a helluva drug. Meditate. Journal. Reduce time on electronics. Consider supplementing with adaptogens.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Sleep: No explanation necessary. Less than 7 hours? Stay outta the gym.⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Thyroid: As someone that’s been hypothyroid since 17 years old, I promise ya if there’s a deficiency in thyroid hormone, you’ll have no energy & want to spend every minute possible sleeping. Check our blogs on hypothyroidism.⁣⁣

Iron: Easily bruise? Chronically cold? Chronically tired? Check those iron levels. If labs are no bueno, consider high-quality red meat daily + eating/supping beef liver (@ancesteralsupplements)⁣⁣

B Vitamins: Necessary for happy hormones, adrenals, & menstrual cycles. B12 in particular is a biggie that many are deficient in, so don’t be afraid to check labs! We love @zhounutrition.⁣⁣

  • Like most Moms I've got that “#hotmess” thing going on most of the time. 
It hit the other day like whoa..I sometimes feel like I AM a tornado 🌪

Between the laundry, the dishes, the puppy and little boy messes, the cooking, the brother brawls, working outside of the home (not for much longer🙏🏻🙌🏻), coaching other women + building a business, working out and focusing on my own wellness (as part of said business), staying connected in our Church and to add to it all...I am homeschooling my kindergartener and attempting to homeschool my preschooler at the same time 😜🖍. I am busy but I am not at all listing my obligations and responsibilities to be like “look how full my plate is.” I am sharing because I know you’re thinking, “yeah girl same..” Because I have SO many women tell me they can’t find time or don’t have time to exercise or start a business even though they really desire to make healthy changes and reach AMAZING goals. 
I may feel like a tornado at times but I am an intentional one. First of all because Jesus, and second of all due to an intentional mindset. 
Words of wisdom from the amazing John C. Maxwell, “Intentional thinking precedes intentional living. The intentional life  is deliberate, consistent, and willful. The unintentional life is passive, inconsistent, and disappointing. Sadly, most people accept their life instead of living it! They get the left-overs instead of the main course.” You may continue to feel like you’re on the crazy train (like me), but if you take action instead of “getting ready to get ready” you’ll enjoy the fullest and see some amazing things happen 👏🏻. Welp off to church 🤣. .

  • How Badly Do You Want Abs?

Most people who want to lose weight want a flat stomach. Especially for women, that little pooch of fat below our belly buttons is the last fat to come off when we lose weight. Often, you never completely lose it. Or you might get rid of it, but it's almost impossible to not gain it back, unless your diet is super clean and you don't enjoy any splurges.

I don't want to discourage you from trying! Just know that your workouts and your nutrition need to be dialed in. You pretty much will need to give up sweets and alcohol for awhile to achieve that aesthetic. Sure, it can be done.  But are you willing to pay the cost?

Me? I love cupcakes (obviously). And wine. I'm more interested in maintaining my current weight (give or take a few lbs) and adding muscle/getting stronger than I am in achieving a 6-pack. I enjoy flexible dieting, where I'm dialed in most of the time, but I also allow some splurges, like dessert, alcohol, and nice dinners out. This type of eating prevents me from going off the rails and binging. I may never have a visible 6-pack, but I'm strong and healthy, and at the end of the day, that's what's really important.

What about you? Give me a like if you look like you work out, but also like you enjoy cupcakes from time to time! (btw you should see the looks I get at the gym when I wear this top!) 🤣

At the end of August we held a 5 day squat depth challenge.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Our goals were to teach REAL mobility techniques to crossfitters who were struggling with feeling comfortable, confident, strong and stable in the bottom of their squat.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
During these 5 days, we brought the members through a guided program where we taught them the fundamentals that we use with all of our clients.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here were a few of the techniques we used! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
E.N.G (Eccentric Neural Grooving)
C.A.Rs (Controlled Articular Rotations)
PAILS/RAILS (Progressive/regressive Angular Isometric Loading)
Primal Flows (Our concoction of stretching movements to get the most bang for your buck)

These techniques are all extremely powerful BUT…
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When you find the perfect recipe for these ingredients for the specific individual, that’s when the results are game changing…

One of the most important factors to identify as you start your fitness journey is the amount of support you get from your family and friends.
•
We have all heard how we are the average of the five people that we spend the most time with. We’ve also heard how important it is to surround ourselves around like-minded people.
•
But what about our direct support system? How big of a factor does our spouse, roommate or family that lives close have on our health and wellness?
•
One of the most important questions I ask new members I meet is what their level of support looks like at home.
•
If you have an unsupportive spouse, unfortunately your likelihood of success is much lower. But if your spouse is onboard with you and excited to make lifestyle changes WITH you, then I can say there is a much higher chance for success.
•
Are you supporting your spouse and do you feel like you’re being supportive?
•
I’m blessed to have a wife that supports, pushes and believes in me.
•
The odds of you doing this on your own are slim. Instead, surround yourself with like-minded people. Find yourself spending more time with health conscious people and you’ll find yourself making better decisions regularly.
•
Find community at the gym that supports and believes in you. Know that they are rooting for you and want you to be successful.
•
Continually address what your relationships and support at home look like.
•
Remember that being supported is one of the most underrated factors to your success in your health and wellness.

  • Homemade breakfast in Greece 🇬🇷🤗 I fell in love with this country, with the beautiful views, with the people and with the food 😍 Even if we have a quite small kitchen with limited equipment in our villa, I enjoyed preparing this plate so much!! Not Instagram worthy fried eggs (still not bad for the new pan and first time try, right? 😌), a piece of bread with sun dried tomato paste sprinkled with feta, a few slices of the sweetest peach I have ever had, cucumber and tomato seasoned with Greek spices mix and olives (because who needs avocado when you have the most delicious olives around you) 🍳🥒🍅🤩 It was easy, healthy, delicious and tasted like home 😍

  • When you’re obsessed with Cheez Its like I am and Pizza Hut announces a new STUFFED CHEEZ-IT PIZZA (❗️), you wait for your heart palpitations to subside and line up by yourself waiting for their doors to open up. An order includes four giant Cheez It-looking pizza squares filled with mozzarella cheese, your choice of pepperoni or without. Marinara on the side. The crust is supposedly infused with the “sharp cheddar flavor of Cheez-Its.” Is it good pizza? NOT REALLY. The disappointment is more on the inside, because it’s not stretchy mozzarella cheese like I expected (see picture 2). But the crust really does taste like Cheez-Its and the fact that you can hoist cheese-filled Cheez Its triumphantly over your head while you walk out of a Pizza Hut is pretty cool. 3/10 product, 10 out of 10 idea.
