  • Theres Upper Body Day, Leg Day and now I can officially add Track Day to my list of workout days!! Upper Body Day Tomorrow!! Oh and I'm closing in on 2,000 lifetime miles in less than a year on the Fitbit!! For this morning: Walked over 3.5 miles in 1 hour!

  • Post exam gym session so I had to keep everything nice and light but it still felt soo good being back home, yes the gym is my home 🙈!! Since it had been a while it only felt right starting my training with my favourite muscle group... my back 🎉

  • Healing the gut isn’t something that happens in a whim or one particular thing you do. It is a process that goes on in 4 phases.

Phase 1. Remove
⠀⠀
You need to find the cause for the poor health of your guts. It may be infection from a bacteria, fungus, parasite, etc. or foods you are sensitive or intolerant to. 
Now, let’s make it clear - the fact that you like certain foods doesn’t mean your body likes them. So you have to completely remove from your diet the things that cause inflammation. This phase may go for 3-6 weeks.

Phase 2. Replace ⠀⠀
You need to replace the bad stuff with the good stuff, which was previously missing. Usually, that includes hydrochloric acid and digestive enzymes.

Phase 3. Repair
⠀⠀
In this phase you will start taking specific nutrients that are proven to support a healthy function of gastrointestinal cells. Note that you cannot jump straight to this phase! You MUST complete the previous two first.

Phase 4. Reinoculate
⠀⠀
The last phase includes the supply of healthy bacteria to your guts. DO NOT try to take this step until you make sure the other 3 are fully complete. You may be putting yourself in serious danger with lifelong consequences. ⠀⠀
If you need advice about your gut health and how to fix your unhealthy guts, speak to a specialist. A good functional medicine specialiat should be able to create a plan that is custom to you and combined with your compliance and determination, deliver the results you would expect.

When I talk to people about what I do as a coach they always say “oh so you sell like, fitness programs and shakes and stuff?” My response is, “No, I “sell” a lifestyle .” Now... not going to argue, they ARE the best products and tools out there but they only work if you do. Sure it would be great if we could melt 20 lbs in 2 weeks or get a 6-pack just in time for vacation... but wouldn’t it be better to spend the time learning how to achieve those things so you can develop all the habits necessary to maintain them for the long haul?⁣

The most important (and difficult) part of any fitness plan is patience. Try to make lasting changes rather than striving for perfection. Shift your mindset from “how do I get (insert goal)” to “how can I keep (insert goal.)” Set long-term goals and then break them into smaller, achievable goals. ⁣
.⁣
For example, if you need to lose 20 pounds, dropping 5-6 pounds per month is realistic and attainable. That means that you won’t be reaching your goal in 1 month or right on schedule but you’ll be learning all the habits you need in order to keep the weight off for the long haul. Losing it all in 1 month is both unlikely to happen, isn’t sustainable and usually has negative rebound effects. 👎🏻 ⁣

It’s one of those 1,000 mile journeys that begins with just one step. But it’s worth it! 🙌🏻⁣

There is quite possibly no one else I would make this commitment with (I like pizza and wine too much 🍕🍷), but I am so excited to have an accountability partner and someone to keep me in check.  What’s that saying, “friends that workout together, stay together,” I think that’s how it goes, anyways 😉.
