Foam rolling is perfect for releasing tight muscles, working out knots and is a great way to warm up before a session. But a lot of people don’t really know what they’re doing when using them.⠀

The idea is to find a particularly tight area or knot and apply pressure to it. This should be quite painful and can feel like the pain is radiating to other areas. Apply pressure to this area continuously until the pain dissipates, usually for a minute or two. The area should then feel softer, looser and be able to move more freely. You can use a number of tools to do this depending on the area you’re trying to target such as a kettle bell or a massage ball.⠀

Good areas to work that tend to be tight in everyone are the hips and and groin, around the scapula and traps, and the insertion of the delt and pec. You’ll be surprised how tight these area are and how much of a difference to your training and day to day life it will make time work on these areas.⠀

Additionally, exercise can increase the production of endorphins, which are known to help produce positive feelings and reduce the perception of pain.
Furthermore, exercise has been shown to reduce symptoms in people suffering from anxiety. It can also help them be more aware of their mental state and practice distraction from their fears.   • I’m not even gonna lie, I’m a bit frustrated!! 😤 I decided Jan was a shit month, but guess what.. Feb isn’t much better 🤣🤷🏽‍♀️ It’s not like I feel down or anything but I just can’t seem to find my motivation to workout. And when I don’t workout.. well I feel like my day is ruined anyway so I eat crap 🤦🏽‍♀️ I finally got back at it this week until I got sick 🤧 So now I’m in bed, super annoying!!

But you know what, there’s more to life than a great shape. And to be honest, I like my current shape, it’s a bit more curvy but nothing wrong with that right?!😌 It’s good to realise that “fitness bodies” are hard work come and with sacrifices. Sacrifices I’m willing to make most of the time, because at that moment they actually don’t feel like a sacrifice.. if that makes sense 🤔 But lately I just wasn’t having it 🤷🏽‍♀️ My prio’s were elsewhere and that’s ok!

I feel like I need to set some short term and long term goals to get my engine running. Bought a nice goal planner book for it, but before I got the chance to write my goals down Chacha destroyed it (Swipe) 😩 Guess what I’m trying to say is.. Chacha is what happens when you’re busy making other plans 🤣😭 Life doesn’t alway go as planned and that can be frustrating. But.. get yourself a new book, shake it off and give it another go! 💃🏽💪🏽 #lifestruggles #update #fitjourney
