But we are definitely 😅! Missing one little arrow in the maze of „Fiery Furnace“ in #archesnationalpark and realizing too late could mean that you won’t ever find back to the official trail. But there are definitely worse places to get lost in 🙃. No worries mum, we got out of there after all!
.
A big request to our instagram family: Doris applied for a #fjallravenpolar2019 contest to spend 5 days in Norway’s Arctic in April ❄️. She could really need your support by voting her up in that ranking 👉 link in bio! Thank you 🤗!

  • Reposted March 20th, 2018 • @tmo.22698 In Daniel 3 there’s a story about 3 men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, who refused to worship King Nebuchadnezzar’s gods. Long story short, the king had the three guys thrown into a fiery furnace that was raging in flames. Much to his surprise, the guys did not have even one singed strand of hair due to their faith. Guards even said that they saw a 4th man in the fire which would be the one protecting them from the flames. This story inspired my piece titled “Faith’s Flame” in spite of the irony. Being on fire for God is the ultimate flame. 🔥 #photography #fieryfurnace #biblicalreference #canon #fire #faith #louisianaphotographer

  • day 50 - halfway point! We woke up and went with our permit to hike the fiery furnace (I was calling it flaming candles the day before). It started off very rainy and we had to take cover a few times. But it was incredible and so quiet for most of it. It was challenging at times but we made it out and now I’m comfy in my bed. .

  • We loved the exclusivity of #fieryfurnace! Thanks to their limited 75/day released permits - we were able to thoroughly enjoy ourselves. We even got to do a little rock climbing 😉

  • I had the good fortune of joining a tour hike through the Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park yesterday evening. This area feautures a lot of unique rock formations to hike and climb through, eventually leading us to a canyon. We took a pause here, where 2 "eyes" in the rock looked down upon the 10 of us. After giving us time to explore, the ranger asked each of us find a place in the canyon to get comfortable, lay down, and simply listen to the sounds that come through.
For five minutes we sat with ourselves and took in the world around us. You could hear the wind coming through the canyon, the occasional bird call, but the most distracting noise was all the thoughts running through my mind. How did I slow them down? I started focusing on my breath. Did all those thoughts disappear? Not completely, but the noise in my mind was significantly reduced and I found myself more present in the moment than I was before.

This experience was a reminder that mindfulness takes ongoing practice. Even if you begin to feel successful in your meditation practice at home or at the studio, being in a different environment will present new "noise" to soften. So today I invite you to go outside, wherever that may be, and simply sit with yourself for at least 5 minutes and listen to what's around you. I'd love to hear what you discover. And, if not for anything else, enjoy the 5 minutes of peace on your own ☺️🙏 #fieryfurnace #archesnationalpark #peaceofmind #yogithoughts #bepresent #settledown #lookaround

  • Day 4: Passers-by
•
When traveling alone, I’m often surprised how grateful I am to interact with strangers. What dynamic others lend to life (and photos)!
•
The permitted Fiery Furnace hike in Arches National Park is intended to both protect the landscape and give folks the feeling that they are alone within and among the area’s thin vertical rock formations called fins. Hikers have to pay close attention to find arrow markers that often blend into the rock and its lichen. For minutes on end—20 or 30 at a time—I would run into no one. Then, almost as if it were meant to be, I’d run into a patch of humans also on a detour—unintended or otherwise. We’d backtrack, find the arrows together, then break back apart. A small microcosm of life.
•
We are meant to help each other through obstacles and confusion, whether for a minute or a lifetime. We are also meant to enjoy space.
•
These past few days in my new home state, I find myself reflecting on my connections. Who is pointing me to my hidden arrows? Who is standing in my way? Who offers their hand to pull me up that can’t-do-it-myself boulder? Who always seems to be walking away?

  • Exploring the Fiery Furnace in Arches National Park! The Fiery Furnace is a two mileish, permit based, labyrinth of a hike. It’s hard to get truly lost because of small arrow indicators and frequent tour guides wandering through the furnace, but we did get tripped up a few times and wander into a few dead ends like this one! One of the most interesting and interactive hikes I’ve ever been on! Even on a cool day the furnace gets super hot and is hard to find shade or water, make sure you’re prepared! #fieryfurnace #archesnationalpark #ilovemoab #moabutah #iloveutah #beutahful #labyrinth #ilovearches #gooutside

  • Hey @health_with_jake - I haven’t seen you in a month and I’m kiiinda over this whole snow-in-May thing. What do you say we meet up on a beach somewhere? Yes? Okay cool, I’ll meet you under the palm trees tomorrow! 🌴
•
It’s true - I’ve never been a beach vacation kind of person, but for the past few months I haven’t been able to get the idea of snorkeling and running around in the sunshine with my bare feet in the sand out of my head. ☀️
•
Plus, I’ve never been to the Caribbean and I’ve just gotta see what all the hype is about! 🌊
•
So, first thing tomorrow I’m headed to the land of clear water, ancient Mayan ruins, sunshine, and (hopefully) no shortage of dancing and good food. 💃🏼
•
Catch ya later, snowy alpine - Mexico, nos vemos pronto! ✈️

  • We had so much fun exploring the Fiery Furnace at Arches National Park. It requires a permit and there is an extra fee involved but it is so worth it. At every turn, there is something beautiful to see and surprises around every corner.
•
•
Since it is a permitted hike, it requires a short orientation at the visitor center. It is also technically an unmarked trail although there are small arrows throughout pointing you in the right direction. We were a little nervous we may get lost, but generally it was pretty easy to navigate. •
•
This has been one of our favorite hikes to date and we highly recommend this one! If you do hike it, make sure to go down every dead end! #hoppinthemap #beernerdtravel

  • Surprise Arch in Arches National Park. It requires a permit, but we highly recommend the Fiery Furnace Trail. Since they only allow 75 people in per day, you have the opportunity to explore around every corner in relative solitude. We almost didn’t follow this path, but Ashley insisted and we found this beautiful arch. Anywhere else in the park, this spot would be packed, but we sat under it and ate lunch without anyone coming through. It was such a surprise and greatly enjoyed! #hoppinthemap #beernerdtravels

  • I am filled with quiet joy for no reason save the fact that I’m alive. The message I received is clear—there’s no time to lose from loving, no place but here to offer kindness, no day but this to be my true, unfettered self and pass the flame from heart to heart. This is the only moment that exists – so simple, so exquisite, and so real. (Danna Faulds)
