  • The front porch is American as blackberry cobbler on the 4th of July.
In the days before air conditioning, the front porch was a way to get out of a stuffy house in the evening. Folks would sit with their families or visit with their neighbors and there was a beautiful sense of community as people passed by.

When my grandmother was alive, the place to gather at her house was the front porch. The adults would talk, discuss books or work crossword puzzles while the kids played in the yard.
When we built our house, we chose the plan because of the long front porch. We made it two feet wider because we wanted the porch to be an extension of our home. Our family has logged many hours out there. It's a nice place to go and sit after dinner. It's a good place to have breakfast or lunch, and it's a quiet place if you just need a few moments of peace. I've even taken a nap or two out there.

What about you? Do you enjoy your porch too?

I'd love to hear about it in the comments.

  • It’s the month of May madness! If you are feeling the pinch of fitting everything in, my latest blog post is for you. My lack of planning may even make you feel better about your life. 😅
.
There really is so much to squeeze in this month. And our kids often have ideas of their own that can make things more complicated for us. Like making homemade ice cream for a How-To project 😉
.
But everything always works out. And when you learn how to choose your thoughts on purpose, you can enjoy and be present in these moments that won’t last forever. Link to post in bio.

  • I wasn’t very interested in mothers. It seemed like because so many people do it that it was something kind of easy and you took it in stride, but it isn’t—it’s really hard. Motherhood is totally wrapped up, for me, in work and effort—not in a bad way, in a rewarding way, but in a-lot-of-work way. That brings up my own feelings about how unfair the state of being a mother is in our culture, because you are saddled with so much, it’s absurd. No other role would be left this haphazard and unsupported. No paid childcare, no system of childcare until they go to kindergarten—that is completely absurd. Barely any family leave, and totally at the whim of the companies, and no support, and especially in our political moment, the hypocrisy of it being “pro-family” which is such a lie—you feel like, how many hits are we going to get? Maybe in another moment I would have navigated this stuff a little better, but I’m not navigating it well now because I’m fucking mad. My daughter is three and it’s still two years before she can go to public school. Are you kidding me? And you’re supposed to be an expert in what early childhood health and education is supposed to be as you go interview al these preschools and you’re like, I don’t know! I didn’t spend my time doing that. And you have to forego like $1400 dollars a month. And hope you get in! I hate the whole thing so much, I want to burn it all down. I look around and I’m like, nobody’s tackled this before? And nobody’s tackling it now? And meanwhile people talk about family values and all this bullshit. ‘Mother’ is a really tainted word in some ways because it has been co-opted by these bullshit artists of the right who are into “family values.” But motherhood, it’s really hard, and in our culture it’s not made easy. Boom, that’s it. Of course I love my relationship with my daughter, I love having a daughter, but the struggle of it is no joke.

  • This month’s warmer bundle set is near and dear to my heart. My dad was known for this “white” cowboy hat. With the fragrances that any southerner would love, I will have to indulge myself and check out this bundle deal! ❤️🐎 #Scentsy #familyvalues

  • The biggest love comes after the biggest heart break or when is it right time to go f’’’g wild
A heartbreak after break up is one of the most indescribable pains we can ever experience.

It does not only take you away from your usual passions, but it blinds you from the immense power of your heart. The excruciating pain you feel tricks you to perceive that you have nothing left to offer or share.

You might be feeling yourself as complete failure and not deserving of love.
Then, comes a time when you find it hard to trust anyone once again. You doubt that the next person will not give you pain anymore. You feel that perhaps, something was wrong with you that’s why you lost the love of your life.
How do you learn to trust people again?
How do you hold space for the pain you are going through?
Is there a way to protect your heart so it won’t get broken again?

Do you know, that your biggest true love, comes along, after the biggest heart break?
Get ready!
Get excited!
And let’s get to inner work to tune up with amazing love that is coming up your way.
Unless I want to repeat the same pattern of break up again-

I take my time to heal.

I take my time to rediscover myself.
I take my time to chill and rest.
I connect with my inner child, and I moan and suffer my loss deeply.
I feel all the pain of my 💔 broken heart; read more: https://www.facebook.com/100001862334821/posts/2661634120575306?s=100001862334821&sfns=mo

  • Always remember where you started 💫
.
183lbs
18 years old
Insecure
Low self-esteem
Not happy with myself
Self-doubt
Undergrad ◽️
That’s where I started & with $160 from my college refund I started the journey that would change my entire adulthood ❤️ because of those $160 I was able to learn about me, learn who I am, my aspirations in life, there’s no limit to what I CAN do

  • Modesty has been on my mind lately. I was brought up with strict guidelines when it came to how I dressed. I'm so thankful that my parents understood the importance of modesty. It really does shape how you see and treat yourself as well as how others treat you. As an adult I feel awkward and uncomfortable if I am wearing something that is questionably unmodest. It's just not right. As a mom I know that I will hold these same standards for my children and teach them the importance of valuing modesty. I pray that it will be enough. The world seems to be set on devaluing human decency and giving everything away for nothing. Raising a family with proper morals is becoming a greater task with every passing generation.

  • Each day I strive to be more present with the people I love💙
.
It’s so easy to get disconnected in a world where communicating is supposed to be so easy...
.
Many of us have come crave the likes, reactions and comments, but feel empty and alone despite this engagement.
.
Our livelihood and humanity depends on real, genuine interaction...so do more of that!
.
Social media is a wonderful platform and provides another avenue to connect, don’t get me wrong.
.
Just remember that if this were to go away some day, it’s the more tangible, in-person relationships that we would be more immersed with.
.
What shape would those bonds m be in if that were the case? Something to think about...
.
I encourage you to call (don’t text or message) someone who comes to mind today that you haven’t spoken with in a while.
.
I promise it will bless their day, and yours too 💙
