  • This is one of my favourite old signs in Campbell River that's still here since my childhood. The Ideal is also a great place for breakfast, at least when the entire world isn't shut down in a massive pandemic lol

  • There is something extremely calming and therapeutic about the water. Today’s #VirtualEscape takes us to Ososyoos, B.C. The name ‘Osoyoos’ comes from the First Nations (Syilx’tsn) word ‘suius (soo-yoos)’ meaning ‘place where two lakes meet’. The Okanagan Valley was formed by a huge glacier during the last Ice Age approximately 17,000 years ago. As the ice sheet retreated, the glacier meltwaters formed Osoyoos Lake and all the others in the valley.

  • I've been enjoying being back on snowshoes this winter. Sort of. I mean, snowshoes are not actually that comfortable to walk in. People always want to go out in snowshoes and will scrape along flat, hardened trails just to go snowshoeing. We were in thigh deep snow so they were necessary. It was a beautiful day.

  • I’ve done my time. 14 days on the inside 👊🏻 Woohoo, I am officially done my travel related quarantine! Now what 😂 My practice is basically closed. My staff are not working. I am not working other than seeing emergencies. Spending lots of time worrying about the business, staff & patients. I want to help everyone, but my hands are tied. I am sure that a lot of business owners can relate. Just want to make sure that everyone is taken care of. How has your work been affected by this?

  • Day 2 part 1 Mt. Robson -> Jasper. Waking up under Mt.Robson and on the road again to see some mountain ranges and ice waterfalls in Jasper National Park.
Waking up to -15°C outside, but we were nice and warm in the car. Very cool seeing these massive mountain ranges with such low tree lines, definitely not what we’re used to in Whistler.

  • "Steel Blue"
This photograph is the final in a series of four images, created during a snow storm where the sky was dark and appeared to have a steel blue tint. This tree was weathering the storm, but right beside it was another tree the same size, but I chose not to include it simply because I liked the near perfect shape of this one. It was snowing hard, high winds, and cold (--10°C/14°F ), a beautiful day for a drive ; ) This tree was found allong the Jemseg Ferry Road, this short dead end road (3.5 km/ 2 mi.), is one of my favorites, any time of the year.
Pentax K200D; 50-200mm Lens at 50mm; f/9; 1/100sec.; ISO 100

During this storm I was out for a drive with my friend @mcook_photos back in the "good old days" when we didn't have to isolate from each other.

  • While editing today's batch of photos, I got to thinking. The photographer has the power to change the story, by leaving elements out or enhancing others.

This photo might give the impression of a wild, remote location, with no people for miles and miles. I enjoy remoteness, so of course my photos tend to play with that.

However, this is simply the road up Grey Mountain...which is just a few minutes drive from Whitehorse, Yukon. Just around the corner is a view of the city, and 10 minutes down the road, suddenly, you're entering a sub division. So despite appearances, a vibrant community is part of the actual story.

Every photo tells a story. I enjoy telling the story of remote places, so my photos can often leave out the people, the traffic, the community...but it doesn't mean they aren't there. I don't think I've been doing it on purpose. Yet, sometimes I am very aware of the narrative when taking the picture, and those are often the ones I share.

Our lives and actions do the same thing. What story are you telling by the way you live...especially in this strange time of crisis? Is it a story of fear, of loss, or one of trust in a faithful, loving God.

Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
-Psalm 20:7

  • Leave your mark// these last couple of weeks really get you thinking. I have found myself caught in moments retracing steps I’ve taken in my life and reminisced on moments good and bad. The current situation in the world is both confronting and challenging. It got me asking myself if I have done all I have meant to with my life? Have I made a difference and if so, is it enough? Is there more? What will I do beyond this pandemic? Will I just retreat to normal or will I forever be changed? Have you been asking yourself these questions? It’s very confronting and in this season while it may feel like we are on pause, really we are just on silent where we can take this time to consider the things that our greater than ourselves. Have you asked the question, “am I doing with my life all that I should be and could be doing”? I encourage you to consider that question and this week take a few moments to journal or reflect on it. When we self examine, it is a reset for the soul. •

  • Home was a back porch swing
Where I would sit
And mama'd sing 'Amazing Grace'
While she hung out the clothes.
Home was an easy chair
With my daddy there
And the smell of
Sunday supper on the stove.
My footsteps carry me away
But in my mind I'm always going home.

Ciò che mi è rimasto nel cuore nel nostro viaggio in Canada: la vista sulle montagne, sulle Rockies. Immense.
Vorrei tornare lì, svegliarmi all’alba a Canmore per raggiungere Banff, a Jasper per fare colazione alla Bear Pow Bakery, all’Emerald Lake per pagaiare di nuovo, sul tetto del nosteo hotel con vista Lake Louise.
