  • Oi, period product manufacturers, listen up: it's time you stop polluting our bodies and seas with your plastic leaden products! .
It's 2020, the world is well aware of the negative effects that plastic pollution is having on our environment and our animal friends. We are over it. And while we don't quite know everything that plastic can do to our bodies and health, what we do know doesn't sound good... Hormonal disruption, development problems, chronic heart or lung disease, no thank you!
.
@lilletsuk @tampax @always_brand Your period products are contributing to 200,000 tonnes of period products sitting in UK landfills every year, not to mention the 2 million period products wrongfully disposed of down the toilet to clog our water ways, pollute our rivers and seas.
.
Women, let's take a stand! Join my future @exxpedition_ mate, @elladaish on her #EndPeriodPlastic campaign! The link is up in my bio 🙌
.
Let's put a stop to this plastic pollution madness, period! ❤️

  • Ocean participated in the “Kids March for Equality” today in honor of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
MLK Jr made an impact on the environmental movement.

When he delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech on August 28, 1963, there were few national safeguards to protect our air, water, wildlife and lands. Environmentalists watched as King's movement moved the conscience of the nation and pressed Congress to enact the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act and other landmark legislation aimed at making racial equality the law of the land. Taking a page out of that playbook, and inspired by the legislative progress King helped to achieve, early environmentalists began advocating for the protections to be enshrined in law. The result was the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act, the Endangered Species Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act.

  • Do you know most conventional dish sponges are made of plastic that do not decompose, and can release microplastic debris during wash that goes straight into our water system? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Additionally, odor-resistant or antimicrobial sponges have been treated with additional chemicals like Triclosan and can end up coating your dishware 😱. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Scrufah is your natural and biodegradable option that is made of sustainable loofah vegetable. Loofah fiber does not foster bacteria growth like a cellulose sponge will, and dries quickly. It scrubs extremely well while still being soft and non-abrasive. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Are you ready to make the switch and say good-bye to smelly plastic kitchen sponges?⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Check out the link in bio! ⁣⁣

  • Its time we reconnect to who we truly are. Before opinions and judgements mattered. Before fitting in a box was the only way to succeed. Before life made us hard. Before the world looked and felt scary. Before daily stresses stole our joy. Before, before, before. Lets all choose to live from today onward as who we truly are. Free from fear and judgement. Full of life and and adventure. Open to magic.

Do your shoulders a favour and never do this
.
.
😒 Some of the ridiculous reasons for wearing your backpack on a single strap
.
.
1️⃣ More effort to put first arm through and put a second arm through
.
.
2️⃣ Looks less dorky than both straps
.
.
3️⃣ Less conformist and more swagger
.
.
🎒A single-strap carry not only damages your posture but also reduces the life of your backpack as up to 10-15kgs of tension is created in a single strap which normally would be equally divided

  • THE TRUTH ABOUT PLASTIC

We all know too well that single-use plastic is unsustainable and it's one of the biggest issues for our seas and oceans. From documentaries to movies, from blog articles to newspaper pieces, we keep being told how this material who permeates every aspect of our lives is killing fish, birds and marine mammals. But that's only one side of the story.

The truth is, plastic has a terribly negative impact on the environment at every stage of its existence:

EXTRACTION – Plastic is a fossil fuels derivate. It comes from the same source that makes oil, natural gas, and even coal. As demand for fossil fuels as an energy source declines relative to production, plastic production represents a lifeline for the fossil fuel industry, but this has massive implications for the planet. Just think about problems related to fossil fuel extractions such as oil spills or groundwater pollution.

MANUFACTURING – Transforming fossil fuels into plastic requires large chemical processing plants which emit a variety of pollutants into the air. These plants are usually located very close to poor communities, which are then affected by the consequences of their proximities to these waste dumping sites. One of the biggest problems is the higher rates of disease as a result of their exposure to pollutants from nearby plants.

LEAKAGE IN FOOD – Many plastics contain chemicas which can leach, and get into our food and water. Not convinced? Try and google BPA!

DECOMPOSITION – Plastic takes hundreds of years to degrade, and only 9% of the plastic ever produced is recycled; the majority ends up in landfills or in the environment. In fact, 8 million tons of plastic enter our waterways each year, starting to show up everywhere.
It's time to #saynotoplastic once and for all!

Which one of these plastic pictures makes you the angriest? Please share whichever photo hits you the hardest with your followers and tag people who need to see it because we need EVERYONE to change the way we live and cutting down on unnecessary plastic use is SO critical right now! Let’s make people aware how urgent this crisis has become because plastic like this keeps adding up as it takes dozens or sometimes even hundreds of years to decompose, all while killing our precious wildlife and our environment too…and it’s getting worse and worse each day! We MUST make everyone aware of this problem RIGHT NOW, then we must all stand together to get companies to stop producing so much plastic and end our plastic reliance before it’s too late! This is a worldwide epidemic that must be stopped RIGHT NOW so please share this post with your followers and tag people, influencers and celebrities that need to see this as we MUST ALL WORK TOGETHER to #endplasticpollution before it’s too late and it completely destroys our planet! #plasticsucks #singleuseplastic #karmagawa #saveouroceans #savethereef

  • WOOLACOMBE BEACH | Every now and again the world has a way of reminding us of the importance of our next actions, and a stroll along our beautiful beach after recent storms last week literally stopped us in our tracks...
•
We were shocked by the billions of little pieces of plastic covering the beach, and it got us thinking... whilst we've drastically reduced our single use plastic in the hotel, there must be more we can do to ensure our beach - and coastlines across the world - stay as clean, safe and beautiful as we know them...
•
So, we're appealing for your help - as guests, holiday makers and anyone who enjoys visiting our beach - to think about these images when you visit and ensure that you take all your waste away with you. That way, we're not only keeping Woolacombe Beach looking lovely, but preventing our plastics polluting the ocean and washing up on anyone else's shore.
•
THANK YOU!

Instead of valuing my full potential, I am recklessy thrown away, contributing to Global material losses, considerably harming the environment and marine life. This is not the journey I was meant to go. I am meant to have more than one life, to be recovered, recycled and reuse!" - declares one of the multiple billion PET bottles thrown in the ocean.

  • This video of a swan cleaning up trash for her friends should remind us all about these ugly stats: 100,000 marine creatures die from plastic entanglement and approximately 1 million sea birds also die from plastic each year. That’s because there’s an estimated 46,000 pieces of plastic in every square mile of ocean and in the next few years it’s estimated that there will be more plastic than fish in our oceans! We cannot let that happen; we MUST take action now before it’s too late — many more people must be made aware of this URGENT issue so please share this video with your followers and tag people in the comments who need to see it! We can #endplasticpollution by working together and forcing companies to stop making all these single-use plastics that are destroying our environment and marine life!
