  • This is straight up perfect. It sums up how I am feeling! I am so happy I embarked on this journey with myself. I am learning new things about who I am and building a better me from the inside out. I am valueing my body and choosing to nourish myself and be more aware of what I am putting into my body. This includes food but also the thoughts and energy I allow inside. I find myself feeling more positive and trying to avoid negativity. Life is too short to be anything but the best version of yourself.

  • Stocking up on torch fired enamels. Production mode is not my favorite but it sure feels good at the end when it's all finished. Next is making earwires, drilling the beach stone accents and slides. Onward!

  • “We need to remember that it takes time to develop and create something valuable. We must become content in whatever stage we find ourselves in. We need to trust that the journey helps shape and mold us into who we are becoming. The journey needs to become the destination, because God’s timing to bring about our dreams and desires is always perfect.”~Tailor Made
.
This thought is changing everything for me lately. I tend to get antsy, and want to take control and make things happen so I can just hurry up and get to the goal. The thing is, goals are never ending, and I haven’t been enjoying the process of getting there. I realized I was doing it backwards! It’s great to have goals, but the getting there is the best part! As trite as it can sound, it’s true. The process is SO much more important than the achievement because that’s where real change and growth happens. .
I’m learning to love the process, as hard as it can be. Take one step today towards something, and enjoy it. Breathe it in, and consider how that little step is helping you become who you are meant to be. ❤️ #keepgoing #process #embracetheprocess #growth #growthmindset #journey

  • IT'S TIMELINE TUESDAY! What is she working on today?
.
.
Today I'm choosing #spokesperson videos for the Portfolio Page of my new website. I've been working on it for the past 6 months and it's been quite a journey.
Sure I could have given the task to someone else and had it done months ago but being a creative person I love putting my hands, mind and energy into every aspect of my business. Now that I've gone through the process it feels great to have the flexibility to make changes and upgrades and see the results of the efforts and headache. Many times I wanted to quit but I kept going.

And looking at how it's come together, I'm so glad I made this decision.

Look forward to sharing it soon and inviting you into my spokesperson enterprise!

“The Chink in My Armor” - by Greg Amundson @gregoryamundson in The CrossFit Journal, September 16, 2009
.
Journal article recap: Amundson, one of the highest performing CrossFit athletes at the time, failed to qualify for the 2009 CrossFit Games due to his weakness at double-unders.
.
“There was no way for me to find the chinks in my armor because I spent too much time in the comfort zone of my preferred CrossFit stimuli.
.
By diving headfirst into my weakness, I was able to see substantial improvement not only in the substandard skill, but also in fitness domains and job-related skills that had otherwise seen the ceiling of improvement.
.
I also learned that having the courage to step outside of a predetermined comfort zone and tackle chinks in the armor is the best way to improve fitness at any level in the game.”
.
This article may help you communicate the importance of working on your weaknesses.
.
I hope you found this valuable. If so, #repost or tag someone who needs to see it.

  • Working nutrition at work!
This ramen cup is actually good for you, and tastes wayyyy better than cup of noodles (with those nasty dehydrated veggies and enough sodium for the entire work week!)
.
LAYER in a quart sized mason jar:
1 cup of your favorite veggies (thin sliced fresh carrots, broccoli florets, onions, radishes...get creative)
1/4 cup frozen corn and/or peas
1/4 cup green onion (use whites and greens)
1 Tbs soy sauce or liquid aminos, optional and not necessary
1 tsp minced garlic
1 Tbs concentrated broth (I used better than boullion)
3/4 cup cooked shredded meat (pork, chicken or beef)
1/2 cup soba noodles, or another ramen-style noodle
.
Store for up to 5 days. When ready to eat, fill mason jar with boiling water and let sit for 10 minutes. I had to microwave it a few more minutes to get the noodle texture right!
.
Get ready to promote jealousy in the workplace!

  • Do you remember the last time you started a new venture or went through a life transition? Perhaps it was a career switch, getting laid off, moving to a new country, a sudden breakup or dealing with financial loss.
.
Whenever we are going through that process we tend to feel all sorts of emotions. We deal with confusion, anxiety, stress, insecurity, worries and doubts.
.
But then we finally make it. We become comfortable in our new career, we find a new job, we get acclimated with the new country, we get over an ex and we regain financial stability. And when we look back we so often say “I wouldn’t have changed a thing.”
.
Why? Because it is precisely those obstacles, challenges, delays, insecurities and sheer craziness that we go through that we end up valuing the most. All of it becomes absolutely worth it to gain the wisdom of experience.
.
You can’t see what’s on the other side if you don’t go through it. So in the infamous words from The Doors “Break on through to the other side” my friends. Embrace the process. Know that you will come out of it transformed. 🧡

Don’t be distracted by the noise. Don’t follow the herd. Focus on weakness or you’re wasting time. Don’t let outside forces dictate your actions. Build quality relationships with people that will invest in you. Ask questions always. Don’t fake it till you make it. Attack the cobweb in the corner. Learn how to compete for 27 outs... not just the clock. Understand what FINE FOCUS is vs General Focus. Never blame others. Body language is massive whether you think so or not. Learn to communicate or the game will pass you up. Bleed for your teammates. Strike one is everything on both sides. Learn ATTACK MODE. Be the one that make others PANIC or PRESS. Learn how to create outs. Always be a student first. Focus on QAB’s / Barrels not BA. Avg. If the grass is greener on the other side get to work on your yard. At the end of the day “it’s not about you”... actually is. Just figure out why it’s not. 😉

“Knuckles down” - Content for caption from Matt Bruce @brucebarbell with @brute.strength
.
When?
Keeping the bar close and arms long during the pull of Olympic lifts
.
How?
When the athlete grips the bar, cue them to point their knuckles down
.
Why?
“This turns the elbows towards the end of the bar and it also engages the tricep slightly to keep the elbows from bending prematurely.”
.
“This allows me to finish, keeping the bar up and close” - Bruce
.

Split Jerk Foot Position Setup
.
This illustration is adapted from the post “Split Jerk Foot Position Setup” on the @atginsta website featuring Jami Tikkanen @jamitikkanen and Coach Mike Burgener @mikeburgener
.
How do I use this?
Prior to drilling split jerk foot position, take a moment to draw this diagram with chalk on the platform/floor. With no bar, practice dropping from jerk position to the split jerk landing position. After building consistency with hitting these marks, add PVC pipe —> unloaded bar —> lightly loaded bar, etc.
.
For foot position drills using the PVC pipe, please see the YouTube video “Individual Position for Split Jerk / weightlifting by Torokhtiy” @torokhtiy

Are you a great coach, or are you a cheerleader?
.
Encouragement is important. However, if Bob/Sue can’t squat, he/she is going to need a lot more than a “coach” shouting “LET’S GO!”
.
Three basic skills that can separate you from being just anybody else:
👊🏼 Call all people by name.
👊🏼 Know strengths and weaknesses of each member of your class.
👊🏼 Use short, effective, actionable cues. See #chuckcarswell
