  • LANDMINE BENT-OVER ROW.

This is a great back exercise to incorporate into your workout routine. I really love this exercise because you can really get a great squeeze in the back, expanding and contracting those muscles. Notice here how the reps are done controlled, slow, and strong. Also I want you guys to look at how the weight is picked up and put down. No arch in the back, and no curl in the spine. This will help you from getting a stupid injury and possibly hurting yourself seriously.

We did 4 sets of 5 reps. Try this one out at your next gym session!

  • FOAM ROLLING.

Going off of our post from yesterday, here is a complete foam rolling session. No, it does not go by this quick, but unfortunately Instagram only allows 1 minute videos or I would of showed you the whole un-edited version. I spend about 30-60 seconds on each muscle group and then  after I do each group, I go back and re-do the tight areas I need more work on.
.
When doing this, you should be trying to put all your weight on the muscle you are working, really pressing down on the roller to roll out all those tight areas.
.
This helps a lot with recovery, as well as stretching and active recovery but the #1 most important thing to do is to eat,sleep, and drink. If you do these things properly you are on your way to a successful recovery.

Protein powder is extremely popular within sport now a days and for good reason; it can conveniently provide athletes with high quality protein sources (depending upon the brand). The unfortunate truth is that 99% of the protein powder’s sold in the “natural health market” today are trash.  From sourcing cheap raw ingredients all the way to fillers needed to add bulk to the item, these products are a far cry from what marketers advertise. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
-⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Most, if not all powders are made with commercial milk products, which come from cows who are pregnant, therefore increasing chances of ingesting carcinogenic, naturally occurring sex hormones, which have been shown to lower testosterone in men ( Maruyama et al, 2010). ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In order to add some flavour to this pasteurized, dead food item, they spike it with artificial flavours which contain flavour constituents concocted by food scientists in a laboratory using flavours derived from paper pulp or petroleum. Then we have the highly debated artificial sweeteners that are used to get you addicted to the flavour. This is how we grew up 15-20 years ago !! Just listen to the communication.. they sound just like me 😂😂😂😂.. omg of them just said “Jesus” right after a mistake 😂😂😂.. exactly what I say when they make a mistake 😂😂 .. I’m so proud right now 💚⚽️💚!!

An effective pre match meal should include a high percentage of carbohydrates, a moderate amount of protein and lesser portions of fat and fiber to ensure that there are no digestive issues when play begins. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Pre match meals should be consumed anywhere from 2-4 hours prior to the match to ensure that your body has the time to assimilate and use what it is you have just consumed as well as to decrease chances of cramps & discomfort.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

When choosing what to eat prior to matches, keep in mind that every BODY is different and there are no set rules. Within the nutritional landscape there is much misinformation.  One ridiculous and irresponsible claim is that fruits are bad for you and contain too much sugar and that vegetables have anti-nutrients in them.  PLEASE GET THIS RIDICULOUS BELIEF OUT OF YOUR HEAD NOW! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Fruits and vegetables contain high levels of antioxidants, vitamins, phytochemicals and low consumption is linked with increased risk of cancers and cardiovascular diseases, stroke and diabetes (Duthie et al 2015). In a randomized clinical trial Duthie et al (2015) took men and women with low reported fruit and vegetable intakes ( less than 3 servings per day) and separated them into a group which would consume either 8.4 servings per day or a group maintaining their current diet.  After 12 weeks the authors found that the group eating more fruits and vegetables had 30% increase in vitamin C levels, 15% increase in folate levels and a 50 and 70% increase in specific carotenoids when compared to the other group.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Joshipura et al (2001) followed nearly 85,000 individual’s aged 34-59 for 8 years.  They found that individual’s who consumed more fruits and vegetables had lower risk of heart disease.  They concluded that each 1-serving/day increase in intake of fruits and vegetable’s was associated with 4% lower risk for heart disease.  That means every fruit or vegetable you consume lowers your risk by 4%⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As a footballer you may not be concerned with heart disease.  However, if fruit and vegetables have the power to reverse the number one killer of our generation imagine what they can do for endurance, agility, wellness, energy and overall performance in healthy individuals. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
