Round 2 of salmon and pasta but if you use a different sauce, it counts as a different meal, right? 😅 Haha needed a quick meal so I went with this combo again because it was so good yesterday and I had a piece of salmon leftover 👌🏻 -
-
I am always the person who walks out the door exactly on time (okay maybe slightly late every once in awhile 😜) so I knew exactly how much time I had to throw together and eat a meal- 15 mins and luckily the pasta is ready in 8 after you boil the water 😉 Ended up throwing it into a container and eating on the go but at least I got the photo, right? 😎 I talked a little in my stories about that voice you get in your head sometimes even if you’ve been feeling great about your body that tells you that you should be this size or this body type or whatever 🤦🏼‍♀️ Idk why but even when I know I’m being irrational- sometimes it still creeps back in. But recognizing that it’s not true, looking at yourself and seeing all that your body does for you, plus acknowledging that your body is enough as is helps me fight that little negative, horrible voice that comes up sometimes 👊🏻 Everyone struggles with body image but starving yourself, beating yourself up mentally, or any other unhealthy habit isn’t the answer ❤️ Talk about it with your loved ones and don’t be alone in it. Love you guys! -

- @traderjoes frozen hashbrowns cooked in avo oil and garlic salt

  • Brunch Goals. Amirite? Made @f_factor’s waffle recipe and to make these pancakes 😜 mixed together frozen organic blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries with @sukrinusa #highfiber syrup. Fun fact: when fruits are frozen, they’re picked when they’re ripe so you get the best bang for your buck with your #nutrients (and with your real 💵 too).

😴 Why you Need Enough Sleep
.
💤 Sleep is probably one of the most underrated things when it comes to health and fitness. .
Reality is, it’s right up there pretty close to nutrition.
.
When we sleep this is when our bodies build and repair muscle, help with hormones and testosterone production.
.
If you get enough sleep 7-9 hours a day, you’ll feel better, recover, function properly and have better focus throughout the day.
.
Lack of sleep can lead to depression, early development of Alzheimer’s and other various health issues.

  • Literally been drafting this post all day because I have things to say but question my delivery. Please know this comes from a place of love and hoping to give you that nudge/push/encouragement you might need 💛
This isn’t about weighing more or weighing less. This isn’t about a dress size. This isn’t about a number on the scale. This isn’t about my eyebrows (okay this is partially about my eyebrows 😳) But mostly, this is about me getting off my butt and getting after something I wanted. I know there is this whole movement about doing what feels good and healthy at every size and that’s all fine and good! Except what if the thing that feels good is eating a whole sleeve of Oreos every day? Or what if you’re actually NOT healthy at your size? And I’m not here to point fingers or say who is and who is not healthy, but that me on the left? Not healthy. I had terrible eating habits and I didn’t move my body and I was 0% comfortable in my own skin. I needed to make some changes. And if everyone had told me to just do what felt good, I would still be in that same boat today. I knew I needed to change and even though it didn’t always feel good, I kept at it. It’s not going to be feel-good hippy dippy bologna all the time. Sometimes you have to get up and just do the damn thing! You have to make yourself workout when you don’t want to and you have to make yourself eat vegetables when you want chocolate and you have to start implementing changes to better your life. I’m not saying you have to overhaul everything you do in a day, but I am saying you have to start. And last time I said something like this someone messaged me and said that I’m making people feel bad because there’s too much pressure to constantly improving but listen! I’m not telling you to run a marathon tomorrow or plant an organic garden or fulfill your dream list by the weekend. I’m just telling you to TRY. Just try! That’s it! Pick one small thing and work on it every day. We can all be a little better in one area or another, and we are actually on this earth to do just that. To be better. To work harder. To try. All we have to do is try.

You can still stay on track and lose weight even if you have some weeks where you can’t meal prep or are traveling. There are so many ways you can do this. Here are some examples:
🍎You can buy protein bars and pair them with a fruit
🥝 Buy prepackaged nuts and pair them with a fruit
🧀 Buy individual cottage cheese cups and have them with some veggies or fruit
🍓Have a serving of Greek yogurt with some fruit and nuts for a crunch
.
Left picture: a bar plus an apple. You can always add more calories by getting a larger apple or adding some nuts.
.
Right picture: 2 cups of fruit, 1/4 cup cashews, and 5 oz yogurt.

IS A CALORIE A CALORIE? 🤔
.⠀
Yes, if 1600 calories is an appropriate target for your weight loss goal, then sticking to either of these diets would bring results. ⚖️ ⠀
.⠀
However foods offer us more than just calories. Traditionally 'healthy foods' tend to be advantageous for weight loss because they are more voluminous per kcal, more filling and more micro dense. All of this creates a healthier, less hungry environment, which makes sticking to the diet more possible. 🥕 ⠀
.⠀
Trying to eat 1600kcal of processed foods will likely result in far less filling, less voluminous food and poor micro density. Feeling sluggish and very hungry is not a great way to go about losing weight and will almost certainly lead to overconsumption or going off track. 🍪 ⠀
.
FINDING YOUR BALANCE: ⠀
.⠀
Both diets above have draw backs, there should always be an element of balance. Depriving yourself of all the foods you like and force feeding kale is a good way to get sick of dieting and give up entirely. If we understand that a calorie deficit is the physiological mechanism of weight loss.
.
This may mean swapping in a 250kcal chocolate bar in place of yogurt and fruit. In the context of a micro dense, high protein, calorie matched diet, this swap will have zero affect on your weight loss goal, other than that you may be slightly hungrier - but slightly happier! Choose the diet that helps you maintain a calorie deficit for the length of time required to lose weight, happily and healthily.

A healthy lifestyle has both short and long term health benefits. Long term, eating a balanced diet, taking regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight can add years to your life and reduce the risk of certain diseases including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis and obesity.
