  • We're back from vacations , all settled and Alhumdulillah gotten back in the routine that means our play dates are back too !!
Birdie and amma have been enjoying the play dough lately and since she likes it so much ima gonna take advantage and sneak in some learning 🤗
So today we did this fun little sort and match activity .. birdie hadn't seen her animals in a long time and I wanted to check if she still identified them so I put the stash of animals in front of her , called an animal for her to search and collect all of them and give them home (the play dough circle )
What I loved about this activity was it worked on multiple aspects .. birdie rolled out the dough and cut the circles working on her motor skills and then she searched for the animals, matched them up and placed them lovingly on the side to make a home for a new animal.
This activity was purely on instinct , we had no plans but since birdie was enjoying the rolling , I decided to test her a little during play which ended up being more fun !
.
.
.
Swipe to see birdie doing the activity independently as mumma wasn't allowed to touch anything becausbirdiee wants to do everything herself 🙄

  • We needed a calm down activity before lunch today and this took me all of 2 minutes to set up 😁
.
I gathered pegs and a round piece of wood (but you could also use cardboard) 👌
.
I placed them in a basket and gave it to the Big Sis without any instructions 🙊
.
She picked up the pegs and placed them around half the circle and then begun using it as a fan saying "I'm waving it mummy."
.
She then continued to place the pegs all the way around and exclaimed "it's a sun" 🌞
.
What are your favourite calm down activities?I 👇

  • Huevos verdes con jamón 💚💚💚 anyone? 📚🌈📚🌈📚🌈📚 We love finding books we love in Spanish so we can have both versions available at home. Jaxon used to always ask me to read in Spanish to him, but recently, thanks to preschool, he is starting to ask me to read in English too! Which is exciting ➡️ Do you read in other language to your kids? Do you translate the books yourself or buy them in that other language? #LiveColorfulKids

  • Finn watched over our caterpillars with love and attention and he was quite attached. He knew we would release them when they were ready to fly. We prepared for this. One of our books said that the butterflies would take our wishes up to God. So, before we released them, he very seriously told each one a wish that he wanted taken up to God. He was ecstatic when we first released them but he quickly realized they were flying away and not returning. Tears and a broken heart. I’ve never seen such sadness cross his face. One of our butterflies was born missing half its wing. He gently picked it up and lovingly asked it if it would lay eggs in our bushes. We just finished reading Charlotte’s Web and I pointed out that this was similar to the few baby’s belonging to Charlotte who stayed behind with Wilbur when all the rest of them drifted away. The whole adventure ended with Finn crying in bed that night because his wishes hadn’t come true. He was worried God didn’t hear them. We got to discuss how God works and that sometimes things don’t happen when you want them to or quite the way you want them to but that this doesn’t mean your prayers aren’t heard. I ended up typing a letter to Finn, from God, and slipping it under his pillow. The excitement and joy was truly beautiful. The look on his face as I read it...I will never forget. I told him that he can talk to God whenever he wants. We’ve always prayed but I feel like this was the first time it all made sense for him. We left for Palm Springs the next day and Finn made sure his letter from God cams with us. He now wants to write letters to God, with my help of course. I couldn’t ask for a more beautiful first writing journal than that!

  • Started a new unit for history this week, and I’m surprised and happy to see my son is enjoying this read-aloud on Martha Washington. He questioned the silver vs pewter silverware mentioned in the first chapter, so he went and grabbed this 1840’s fork from our cabinet and looked at it while I read. I knew there was a reason I held onto a random old fork 🤷🏽‍♀️😆 Truly admire George Washington’s mother and have reflected back on her all week. Baby is still hanging out with us 💛
•
“...George Washington’s mother was a kind woman who taught George to be fearless and strong and to stand for truth no matter what it may cost. His mother also taught him to have very good manners. George was taught to treat his mother with respect. His mother had to work very hard to run the plantation without a husband, but every day she found time to gather her children around her and read good books to them...His mother’s influence helped George become a great man.”

  • Excited for one of my little kiwis to come play tomorrow. Pulls up on sofas and tables but didn't have a walker. Didn't want the generic one. Have lots of boys in my care so this little push along work bench from @mothercareuk walker is going to be amazing . PLUS 50% off sale !! I love it. It's different and unique . Hope he loves it. The older ones can hammer and screw things and push some shapes in on the side .
