Dorothy Dandridge, photographed before she was a superstar in 1946 by Vera Jackson, a staff photographer for the California Eagle, a legendary and historic Black newspaper out of Los Angeles. Ms. Jackson (1911-1999) was one of the few women photographers in the Black press in the 1940s and 1950s and covered everything from entertainment and society events to politics and crime for the newspaper under its venerable publisher, Charlotta Bass. #DorothyDandridge #VeraJackson #CharlottaBass #vintageblackglamour
