  • Got a shitty boss that says inappropriate things? Here’s your options if they don’t even realise they’re being inappropriate:
1) Call them out on their inappropriate sh*t
2) Ignore them
3) Deflect and throw it back at ‘em
If they’re being malicious:
1) Be assertive and call then out in front of others
2) Talk to other colleagues and find out if you’re being singled out. If not, it’s time to band together and protect each other...full article on the website myshittyboss.com

  • I love adventures! Long, short, near, far. As a little girl everything was an adventure to me. My wild imagination could take me anywhere. I miss that carefree spirit way of thinking. I will say, my children brought a lot of that back in me, but that awful distraction called responsibility got in the way. Adulting can be many of things and a distraction to fun is one of them. It can also be an awesome adventure! My hubby and I have been on a great many adventures from our days of dating, to our surprise love baby, marriage, travel, ups and downs, we are literally going through it all together. Yes, life is a journey but I like to look at it as more of an adventure! One, it sounds more fun and two make it more fun! Often we let fear get in the way of our own adventures. Fear of failure, fear of missed deadlines(the ones in our own heads), fear of what other people will think, fear of missing out. It all gets in the way or delays what could happen for us. I want to live life with my family fearless of what the world might think. The only fear I wish to obtain is my fear of God. A healthy, respectful and loving fear. He will help guide me on this adventure of life and what it holds for me! Today, be adventurous. Take your kids on that hike you've been talking about for weeks, swim with them in the pool, run down that slip and slide, visit that art gallery you and your spouse used to live going to, let the kids have ice cream for breakfast. I too, need to listen to my own advice and step out a little bit. Instead of trying to fit in this picture perfect world, stand out! Be happy! Smile! Take on the day! Happy hump day! .

  • Don't argue. Don't question it. Don't be alarmed. Don't ask why. Ever. You can't say it. Period. It's not a discussion. I don't care if you have black friends. I dont care if you "grew up in the hood". I don't care if all you date is black people. I don't care if the black people you know told you You're allowed to say it. Those are the ignorant ones that don't know their history and are lost. Don't say it. At all. Its disrespectful no matter HOW you spell it or how you mean it. There's several other words that can used. I know these ignorant ass rappers say it every other word. Yes, its annoying as hell. But only the wack and typical ones do that. Real lyricists have so many words in their arsenal. Don't let white privilege get y'all fucked up. If we say don't say it, then just don't say it. Dont argue about it. Its not O.K. Even when delievered as a term of endearment, still dont say it. Expand your vocab. I dont care if your favorite songs have the word in it. BLANK that shit out or dont sing the song. Too much work? Not fair? Well, do we REALLY want to go through the never ending list of what's "unfair" for US...do we? Lol. Ok then, well don't make it a comparison/competition. If you can't follow the rules of the culture, don't partake in the culture.
Food for thought and INSTRUCTIONS. EAT THAT SHIT! And apply it ASAP. Thank you :) #dontsayit #nword #nonwordpass #nwordpass #respect #historylesson #arrogance #smh #theaudacity #culturalappropriation #culturalmisappropriation

  • In yesterday’s IG post, I talked about seeing the damage of my managing, controlling, and critiquing ways to my daughter’s spirit — to WHO SHE IS & who she’s divinely designed to be. Someone commented: "How do you start? Where do you start?” .
.
Although my book #handsfreemama fully describes the process/steps that I used, I’d like to offer a few starting points today. This is for those who are interested in seeing their children soar (and at times, stumble) as they live their truths in the light of self-love and self-acceptance: .
.
· It starts with being kind to ourselves about our issues and insecurities. They aren’t going to disappear overnight, but awareness and compassion are empowering and life-altering. .
.
· It starts with repeating the mantra “only love today” when the inner bully gets loud in our head and starts coming out of our mouth. .
.
· It starts with remembering to look through our children’s eyes. Perhaps where we see room for improvement, they see just right. .
.
· It starts with remembering our loved ones have teachers, bosses, coaches, and instructors who are there to offer critiques and improvements. That leaves us to listen, love, support, and encourage. .
.
· It starts with asking ourselves: Is this suggestion I’m about to give going to sound like help or judgment? Perhaps we don’t need to say anything at all. Chances are, they’re doing the best they can, just like us. .
.
To put it in a nutshell,
It starts when we decide to stop worrying about how our children’s appearance and achievements reflect on us and start focusing on how our unconditional love reflects on them.
.
.
I have learned to pause before I provide “extra feedback” to HONESTLY ask myself: What is my motivation is for saying something?
So many times (if I am REALLY being honest) I am commenting due to my own insecurities / issues / fears and although my intentions to help my child "fit in" (or whatever) really only create a sense of DOUBT in her mind that was not there before I opened my mouth. .
.
