  • I face this constantly. My body is often in overdrive cause of anxiety which causes me to be beyond exhausted. A lot of people don't understand why I am always so exhausted but if they felt what my body goes through in a day... I wish there was a way to counteract it but no amount of coffee seems to help haha. Sleep doesn't seem to help either... after a panic attack I often times need a nap cause it just takes so much out of me. Which is difficult when I have a nap out and about and I can't get the decompression time I need

We all get overwhelmed whether it's bc of a huge to-do list, family coming to visit or a panic attack. Here are some of the approaches I take to help me manage when my brain feels like it just can't.⁠

STOP ✋Press pause. Slow down. Take a moment. Maybe this means breathing to you, maybe it's a meditation. Maybe it's asking yourself what is going on to make you feel *this* overwhelmed & what can you do for you that you will enjoy. What do you need right in this very moment?⁠

TAP 👇I'm obsessed w tapping. When I don't have time for journaling & need something that cuts right to the point, I go straight to tapping. Tapping or EFT (emotional freedom technique), focuses on specific meridian points of the body whilst focusing on the negative emotion at hand. It can be used to help w anxiety & rewire those negative thought patterns.⁠

GET OUTSIDE/RUN/WALK/LIFT/DANCE 🏃‍♀️🏋️‍♀️🤸‍♀️ Movement is so key to alleviating overwhelm. "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands, they just don't." - Elle Woods.

  • I don’t know why I felt I needed to post this today but i think it’s because each and everyone single one of us need to make this our phone background. ☁️how many times a day (and you might not even realize how many times) does an idea, project, thought cross your mind & your thoughts immediately jump to “I can’t”. Even without thinking. Almost like you are programmed to I can’t. ☁️For me, I can’t Is a mask for my fears. 
I remember being invited by my fiancé to Iceland with this family and when asked I immediately said “ah sorry I can’t I have a lot of work”. While yes I work a lot, I could of made it happen. But FEAR jumped in and replied for me with I can’t. ☁️you see, flying out of the country doesn’t bring me the excitement like other people because I let fear control those emotions before even feeling them out myself first.
☁️Ways ive helped this: when asked to do something and you immediately reply with you can’t or too busy. Dig deeper: are you too busy or is fear/anxiety holding you back?
☁️currently working on this: if it is fear, expressing my feelings around why. For example, when my fiancé asked replying with “honestly the thought of getting on a plane that long and going to a foreign country makes me all kinds of anxious, I feel I can’t do it because my anxiety says I can’t”. SPEAK YOUR TRUE NEEDS AND TRUE WANTS. You will feel such a release doing so. 
Yes, it’s not easy but keep trying. It gets easier.
