Hey. Please don’t comment on how there’s “no such thing as tone, your muscles only get bigger or smaller,” or “tone is a marketing term.”⁣
⁣
Whatever. 90% of the women I talk to want to get “toned.” So yeah - I’m using their language. I’m meeting people where they are at - that’s my goal.⁣
⁣
Knowing how to achieve muscle tone and definition can be a struggle.⁣
⁣
There are so many different voices telling you so many different things.⁣
⁣
“Light weights, 100 reps.”⁣
⁣
“No, go heavy for tone.”⁣
⁣
“Go to Soulcycle 5x/week.”⁣
⁣
“Lift weights, sprint, then do the row machine for an hour."⁣
⁣
So, what happens? A lot of people inevitably start listening to ALL of the voices and doing EVERYTHING all at once.⁣
⁣
Working out 7 days per week for 2 hours is NOT the way to achieve muscle tone. Moreover, it’s anything but sustainable.⁣
⁣
What we’ve listed in the graphic is a combination of exercises regular people do before they start working with a personal trainer. There’s nothing wrong with any of these exercises, by the way, you can add them into any workout you like.
⁣
The point is this: when people are confused, they often just try to do it all, thinking it will allow them to get results. Wrong!⁣
⁣
Please understand this is just one method. We're not saying it’s the only way to get results.⁣
⁣
Sometimes simple is best - and that’s what is outlined on the right. If you do these 3 things, and you do them regularly, you will definitely start to see muscle tone.⁣
⁣
I hope this helps!

  • How you look is determined by what you put in your mouth, how much you move during the day, HOW you train and of course, genetics. By that I mean that some people are naturally lean while most of us have to work hard to achieve the physique we want. Most people I encounter want to lose weight and ‘tone up’. Being ‘toned’ is actually having lean muscle tissue and Bodyfat low enough to see the definition/shape. It is actually quite difficult to achieve and requires hard work and dedication. You cannot achieve the ‘toned’ look without using resistance training. Endless hours on the treadmill or cross trainer will help you burn a few calories and improve heart health but will not get you ‘toned’. Thinking you are going to turn into the Incredible Hulk if you lift heavy weights is not going to happen either! Let’s not forget that muscle is denser than fat therefore it takes up LESS SPACE so you actually look smaller. Also, the more lean muscle you have the more efficient you are at burning calories. So if losing weight and getting ‘toned up’ is your main goal......
•
✅ Make sure you’re in a calorie deficit. •
✅ Prioritise weight training. Follow a structured weight training programme that implements progressive overload. •
✅ Increase your daily activity. What you do when you are NOT in the gym accounts for most of your daily energy expenditure. Make it count.....move more.
•
✅ Do some cardio for extra calorie burn. •
✅ Get sufficient sleep. All those changes in your body happen during recovery. 7-8 hours a night. •
✅ Consume enough protein. Between 1.2-2 grams of protein per Kilo of body weight. •
💪 If you are serious about changing your physique, hiring a personal trainer to help you is a great investment. For a Free consultation or any pt enquires email ccoptimalfitness@gmail.com or drop me a message. •
