  • In honor of Black History Month D4LDC would like to salute Phylicia Colding. She began dancing at the late age of 10. After taking Dance classes at places like Joyce LaVerne, Suitland High School VPA, Dance Theater of Harlem, Dance Institute of Washington, Washington Ballet School and Philadanco. She wanted to start her own Dance business teaching all that she have learn. Phylicia had a dream to start her own Dance school into something big but you have to start somewhere. She started her business in 2009 it was slow coming but she was determined not to give up on her dream. She started teaching at Hillcrest Heights Community Center but quickly began to realize that she really wanted her own space. So she started her own dance studio with the help of her mom out of her house in a small place of the back of her home. After becoming pregnant with her second child and had to go on bed rest she had to rebuild her dance school with getting new students. That did not discourage her. She continued to keep pressing on to her dream. She offer FREE classes last year and even reach out to areas Elementary school. She received a few students in which she love teaching. Just like Mrs Joyce LaVerne started her Dance school in the basement of her home with a small amount of students before getting her own studio place and even people like Karel Shook and Arthur Mitchell started Dance Theatre of Harlem in the basement of a church with just 30 student they had a dream. So as Dr Martin Luther King said I Have a Dream and so does Phylicia. You have to start small just like other Dance school did. So in honor of Black History Month We Salute Phylicia Colding and her dream. Keep pressing on to your dream. #dance4lif #littledancer #danceismylife #youngdancers #d4ldc #lovedance #danceismylife #ballet #jazz #Ballerina #dreamtodance #danceinstructor #founder #owner #daretodream
