- Norfolk native and boxing legend Pernell “Sweet Pea” Whitaker, 55, died Sunday evening after being hit by a vehicle in Virginia Beach.
A family member confirmed to WTKR that the Olympic gold medal winner and four-weight world champion was killed in the 10 p.m. crash.
Police said the driver of the vehicle that allegedly struck Whitaker stayed at the scene and was cooperating with officers.
Whitaker who graduated from Booker T. Washington High School found a name for himself, along with international boxing recognition, by winning an Olympic gold medal at the 1984 Olympic Games and winning gold at the 1983 Pan American Games.

- In June US-based retailer @kohls added clothing for people with disabilities and complex medical needs to three of its private-label brands for kids. The Jumping Beans, SO and Urban Pipeline brands will now feature clothing with abdominal access and sensory-friendly materials, as well as wheelchair-friendly options. The idea was championed internally by Kohl’s employees whose children have special medical or developmental needs.
💡INCLUSIVE IRL. So far, 2019 has already seen the development of Lego Braille Bricks for the blind, Wheel the World wheelchair accessible tours to Machu Picchu, and a partnership between Lionsgate and Actiview for live American Sign Language interpretation of movies.
What’s pushing these very welcome moves? First, there’s simple demography. According to the WHO, the number of people requiring assistive devices (think wheelchairs, hearing aids and more) is projected to double to 2 billion by 2050. Second, it’s the right thing to do. Rising awareness of inclusivity means brands have no excuse: they must make their offering as inclusive as possible. How can you make every part of your customer experience more accessible to those who have too often been marginalised?

- | Un-loving l 'How often do you fall in love?'
'Everyday.' 'How often do you fall out of it?'
'Never.' You know There is nothing called a 'Love Bible' , though , people claim to have written one or read it.
But practically , nobody can jot down all the 'Series of Unfortunate events' that a person triumphs in love.
No single poem.
No single story.
No single book.
No single love song.
No single unsent letter.
No mails in the draft.
Nothing at all.
It is understood and misunderstood by every single individual.
Everyone is worthy of love but it is a treasure hunt you won't succeed at unless you stop looking.
There is nothing more versatile and sparse than love.
It is a word.
It is a feeling.
It is a moment.
It is growth
It is solitude.
It is kind.
It is soulful.
It is passion.
It is glory.
It is deceptive.
It is Empowering.
It is heartbreaking.
It is synonymous to pain
It is an unexpressed thought.
It is a person.
It is you.
It is me.
It is 'US'. It is not always grand gestures with Roses and letter and cakes half-baked.
Sometimes it is just a 'Hi' when life's been so full do goodbyes.
It's not always a bucket of joy and dreamland with candy houses.
Sometimes , it is melancholic and exhausting like depression.
It's not always promises that were kept and nights spent un-slept.
Sometimes , it is the ray of sunshine we've been avoiding for as long as we could.
And most of the times, it is simple and plain yet put into a complicated frame.
Love maybe a lot of things but it never leaves us.
It is not in our hands to un-love a person when all we know is to just keep falling for them again and again.
If a person says they've stopped feeling for someone , they are wrong.
Feelings aren't a race with a finishing line that go away with 'Game Over'.
And no one ever takes away all they got and all they gave in a relationship.
They leave some.
And they love some.
And they save some for a rainy day.
Maybe , in secrecy now , because they've started calling a 'New love' as their own.
It is not just 'Firsts' that are special or the 'Lasts' that stay for eternity.
It is the Transition in between that makes loving beautiful and un-loving impossible.
