So thankful to have this one by my side! @pa_baltrock Conquering the mountain with your better half or friends is so much more fun 🙏🏼 Losing or winning no matter what as long as you’re doing it together 💪🏼 We met so many people this season it’s still buzzing how people are willing to help each other or just sit next to a bonfire with beer & good talks 🏕 Hopefully 2020 will bring around awesome memories too ✨

  • I'm sure you're all getting bored and sick of the photos, but don't worry I plan on having another YouTube video for you this week coming to watch instead 😉
Shall be making episode 2 of season 2 when I get to LaPaz (only 150 miles away from where I am now) It will be picking up from Watson Lake in the Yukon, was much colder back then, today we got 31c and the coldest I saw up there was -22c, never did I think in my whole life that I would be on the same trip that has a 53c temperature difference.

  • They are still at it. What happened to take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints? Someone is going to have to clean up this continuing vandalism, how disrespectful to those workers #cyclingnz #cycletouring #hearttobeat #vandalism

  • Day 55 (Bicycling across China)
114.89+ miles
January 19, 2020 (Sunday)
Eshan to Mojiang

Got started a few minutes before 10am. Wish I would have worn gloves this morning, the air was chilly as I pedalled away from Eshan.

Felt like I would be in hills all day, but I had two good descents. And some of those hills looked like mountains around me.

Around mile 88+, mentally I was not going to be able to complete the miles still left to Mojiang. I was still climbing. My left toes were feeling numb. This happened a few days ago. It is kinda painful. So I stopped to lower the seat. I do not know if it helped much, by now I had other issues I was thinking about.

Mentally, I did not know what I needed to put inside me to get me going again: Ice Cream?, Milk? I stopped at a small town and got 3 small bottles of orange Fanta to try and cheer me up. (They only had small bottles). By 6pm, with 1 hour of light, I still had 24 miles to make Mojiang. But I was still climbing. Going 6mph. So I knew I was in trouble.

I cycled in the dark for an hour. I started thinking about just trying to find a camp spot for the night. I do not have a sleeping bag with me, but I kept thinking by the time I reach town, everything might be closed anyway. Eventually there was some descending which is nerve-racking trying with a bicycle light. But it was not a total descent in to town. It was slow going. One nice surprise was the Only Tunnel of the day is 5k outside of Mojiang.

By the time I actually got into a room, it was 8.45pm. I ordered food from next door. I am sure I will be thirsty tonight. The bicycle got left in the lobby, which is far away from where I am staying. My clothes are really dirty, I am really dirty, and this hotel only provides small packets of soap. My hands are...
⁣
Fraaie prestaties weer. En hoe was jouw weekend? 😃👊🏻

  • Can we all just take a moment to admire this dad’s face tho? It’s fucking gold! 😂

A little backstory: I was cycling solo to the north of Thailand, and rolled up to this gas station in the middle of nowhere. In Thai, I asked a woman working there if I could camp behind it as I had already cycled over 30miles in over 90 degree heat that day, she gladly welcomed me in! Her daughter guided me to the showers and helped me set up my tent; she was a fucking doll, seriously! The man in the photo was her husband. He really wanted to be in this photo and even though I’ll never forget how wonderful and accommodating they were, this photo trumps it all. His face is fucking solid! 😂😂😂

  • [Bicycle around the world, South America]
In South America, we sometimes see roads that we cannot imagine.
Even more surprising, the inconceivable road is very commonly used as an integral part of people's lives.
The photo was taken while driving along the Andes in Peru.
The multiple broken roads behind the bicycle are the roads I have to run after. (↓ Travel status posted on blog)

Moments like these make you feel far, far from home.
