Duk-Duk is a secret society, part of the traditional culture of the Tolai people of the Rabaul area (Papua New Guinea). The society has religious and political as well as social objectives. It represents a form of law and order through its presiding spirits. In ritual dances, members of the society invoke the male spirit duk duk and female spirit tubuan depending on which mask the dancer wears.

Justice was executed, fines extorted, taboos, feasts, taxes and all tribal matters arranged by the Duk-Duk members, wearing masks or chalk on their faces. In carrying out punishments, they were allowed to burn houses and even kill people. Dancers wearing the tubuan masks were regarded as divine beings whose judgment and actions could not be questioned.

  • A trip to East (swipe to see the final look, Part III)
.
.
Another beautiful moment from this 'Trip to East' was getting introduced and dressed by a very senior lady from the BODO tribe, in their traditional attire, named DOKHONA.

Bodo tribes are known to be the earliest settlers in Assam. The have quite exquisitive dresses which are exhilarating the beauty and glamour of women.
Dokhona, the dress that I was draped in, is worn by Bodo women which they themselves weave on their looms found as the most important object in the courtyard of a Bodo house. It is worn to cover the whole body from chest to legs by wrapping one round at a time over the waist, along with a Jwngra (scarf) to cover the upper portion of the body.

It was an honour to dress like them, by them and become a part of Bodo tribe for a while. This not only pleased me but even gave a sense of pride to these beautiful ladies to dress someone in their attire from outside their tribe. .

In this episode, I chat with Melanie Midegs, where she shares insights from the last decade and her predictions for the next.

Melanie is a futurist, teacher of Chakra Philosophy for Business and founder of Seed to Soul. We explore psychosomatic therapy - the study of the body-mind connection - and how this changed her world, why technology will shift us to unplug, and her core message of humanity and sustainability before economics.

Key episode highlights include:
* A company can’t become truly sustainable unless its people are conscious - that’s the piece that’s still missing * Shifting focus from profit to planet * It’s hard to care about a bigger issue in the world, when our personal life isn’t feeling safe.
What Melanie predicts the next decade will hold:
* The beauty of technology and artificial intelligence is the fact that it’ll push us to the point where we need to unplug * Our current climate crisis amongst a range of other issues will get worse before it gets better, unfortunately... but two things will happen under pressure. New leaders will be born, and those who refuse to start doing things differently will struggle * Those who choose to stay ignorant to not only what's important in this world, but ignorant to their own emotional intelligence will truly struggle when their comfortable structures start crashing down around them. * There’s a new way to come back into business and still be successful, but do it from the heart.

  • 23rd January 1897-Birthday Of an Extraordinary Human Being, our very own Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose 🙌
Humare Netaji ka desh ke prati prem, sashakt aur nirmal charitr, Rashtravaadita, swatantrata sangram, apne desh ki sanskriti aur Mata-pita avam ghar ke diye hue sanskaaron ne unhe ek mahaan vyaktitv ke roop mein vikasit kiya! Desh ke logon mein unke prati vishwaas aur prem ne hi unhe aur zyada aatm vishwas se bhar diya thha jiske kaaran aaj humara Bharat desh Swatantra hai.
Desh ki azaadi mein kayi mahaan purushon ne apna balidaan diya kintu Netaji ka iss desh ke Azaadi mein bahut bada balidaan raha hai! Mujhe garv hai Iss desh ka nagrik hone par aur iss desh ki mitti par jispar humare veer sapooton ne janm liya!
Main inke path chinho par pehle se hi agrasar ho chuka hoon...Main naa to Anyay sahunga aur na anyay karunga ! Main ek azaad Bharat ka Satyagrahi hoon Aur sadaiv satya ke marg par hi chalta hoon aur chalunga. Jo log iss desh ka ahit chahte hain main unka kade roop se ninda karta hoon aur unse doori banaye rakhna main zyada pasand karta hoon . Ye desh hum sabhi Bharatiyon ka hai aur iska ahit sochna ya karna kisi ke liye bhi laabhdayak nahi hoga. Isliye apne Desh se prem karein, apne desh ki sanskriti ko aage badhaein aur desh ka naam roshan karein.
JAI HIND ! BANDE MATARAM ! 🙏
