  • In celebration of Fashion Revolution Week I wanted to share why I chose to handmake each garment for War & Drobe rather than having them mass produced. Sewing is a beautiful historical craft that I want to be a part of in preserving. When we take the time to slow down and create thoughtfully there's a personal touch that is inevitably transferred onto the garment. Each stitch is considered, every feature mulled over and because I can only sew a small number each year every garment is limited in availability. By wearing unique and rare pieces we reflect more of who we are because we too are unique and rare. So here's to @fash_rev for asking the important questions starting with "Who made my clothes?"
.
Thanks to my friends @we_resonate for taking this photo ♡ If your looking to discover inspiring sustainable brands then make sure you check them out!

  • We had the opportunity to breathe fresh energy into a tired trailer for The Generator Guys this week! Building an engaging outcome from an existing brand lends it’s own challenges, but we’re pretty charged up on how this turned out! What do you think? ⚡️✌🏻 #vehiclewraps

  • #designoftheday Portinfer Rug.
From our Island Rhythms Collection of hand knotted rugs, Portinfer Rug takes inspiration from the ebb and flow of the tide at Portinfer beach on Guernsey. This design story is of the continual waves that break one by one on the shore.

  • After 24hrs, I removed the first eight rows from clamps. 1st pic shows the next seven rows laid out next to the first eight rows. I used the first eight rows as a form for the next seven. Basically, I clamped the whole assembly together while the seven row section was glued. This insured a proper fit between the two sections, for when they get joined together.•
•
2nd pic shows both sections of the top dry-fit together after planning. I put a couple clamps on the assembly, along with my @veritastools straight edge. This allowed me to make sure the two pieces joined together tightly, and that they would stay flat under clamping pressure.•
•
3rd pic shows both pieces glued up and clamped together. I continued to check everything over with the straight edge as I applied pressure.•
•
In the 4th pic, you can see the underside of the main top, out of clamps, standing on edge, while the first seven rows of the waterfall section get glued up.

  • My finished 6’0 egg. So proud to have hand shaped this board over the past couple of months, gaining a real appreciation for craftsmanship and slowness. An incredibly fun side project to accompany my final term at uni. @the___bay

  • Really happy with how this mid century entertainment center turned out. I was able to use modern techniques and products to compliment a timeless style. I got to use my favorite wood, quarter sawn white oak for the drawer fronts and rift sawn white oak plywood for the casework. The drawer pulls were inspired by @hambuilt and the finish is @rubiomonocoatusa fumed followed by white 5% oil. •

  • Such a beautiful effect created with this lattice of natural and coloured strips of oak by basket weaver @lornaweavesoak
Her bio as weaver and woodswoman, based in Cumbria, is so alluring to all who love craftsmanship, slower living and engagement with the natural world.
There is a certain irony (or perhaps an inevitableness) in being endlessly drawn to images of the most tactile of pieces via a social media channel and the medium of a cold, smooth screen, don't you think? But also an imperative to seek, discover and value time-homoured skills all the more.
